The computing innovation represented by my computational artifact is the Amazon Echo. The Amazon Echo’s intended purpose and function is to help with household activities and do other tasks by responding to “Alexa”. My computational artifact accurately displays the Amazon Echo’s function because it provides an explanation of how it works. I also compared it to a known rival, google home, which illustrated its abilities while adding details to its function. My artifact accurately displays the echo’s effect because it shows the large amount of consumers for the product over the past two years which depicts its impactful effect on society.
2a: The computing innovation represented by my computational artifact is Amazon Echo. Making life at home more simplistic and enjoyable represents the intended purpose of the Amazon Echo. Amazon Echo functions by being able to control lights in the house, the temperature, play music, and order a pizza, all with the sound of an individual's voice. The individual before giving the Amazon Echo a command has to say “Alexa”, (also the personal assistant), or “Hey Alexa.”, then proceed by telling Alexa what the individual would like it to do. My computational artifact represents the intended purpose because it shows how the Amazon Echo processes all the information.
Explain how you were challenged in creating the artifact. I was challenged by creating this artifact because it required to having a in depth understanding of all essential. To use past experiences to incorporate what you have done to achieve meeting the essential. Also, it required to know each essential to be able to know rather or not you understand the essential. Also, is trying to make sure have the required knowledge, and realizing you don’t have as much of experience and skills pertaining to the competencies. Considering the cultural and religious when providing care.
In some point in our lives we feel accomplished, while other parts we feel challenged by certain things. Humans can go through the lowest points in their lives due to setbacks that could occur in one’s life. My artifact portrays Pi’s hope, unity, authority, and strong perseverance in the face of adversity; that is, the struggles that brings him living in the pacific with a large tiger. It consists of Pi’s hand joining with Richard Parker’s, a watch on Pi’s hand, and an orange whistle.
The artifact I uploaded to demonstrate my proficiency in Standard 6 is my final leadership project for the Supervision of Instruction course I completed at the end of August 2015. This project required me to identify an area in which I wanted to improve my professional practices as an administrator, and then implement a plan for improvement which involved communicating with staff, tracking growth, developing action steps, and identifying potential obstacles. The area I chose to focus on was student achievement, and my goal was to increase all students’ academic growth in literacy by improving teachers’ instructional practices through professional development, feedback, and collaboration. The feedback that I received from my professor reassured
Everyone has had their hair cut before; however, most people do not notice one tool that is commonly used. The public has limited knowledge about shearing scissors. Hairstylists refer to the scissors as a best friend because they use them 75% of the time.
I am writing to you in regards to the recent lootings of Sinagua sites and the destruction of historical context that can never be replaced. Not only is looting illegal on Federal land due to various Archaeological protection laws, its severely inhibits archaeologists jobs to recover the precious data that it left from the people of the past. Archaeologists already have a difficult job teasing out wide swathing theories about culture and various uses of artifacts and features from very little evidence. Much of the analysis has to with the context of the find and its provenience related to everything around it. Once an artifact has been removed from In Situ in loses the valuable information that was once associated with it. We can no longer tell for certain when the artifact was used due to the destruction of the strata, when we could have once created a relative time line comparing surrounding feature and artifacts. Any possibility for absolute dating techniques would be null and void as it is essential that we know that the artifact in question had come from the same stratigraphic layer as
For my first Artifact Analysis, I’ve decided to go with the Slave Ship diagram. The first thing that popped into my head when I saw this image was cramped. Meaning the slave ship is filled with so many Africans bungled up next to each other that there’s hardly any room to move let alone breath. As I was reading Commentary, one of the things that really stood out to me was the dehumanization that the Europeans were inflicting on the Africans. A quote from the text states, “The Portuguese were in search of pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon, but found the black skinned peoples who they would later call Negroes, curious items of trade” (31). The phrase “curious items of trade” indefinitely demonstrates the perception of what the African
The main goals of the assignment was to introduce myself and articulate a challenge relating to one of the modes of written, oral, visual, electronic, or non-verbal communication.
State what skills you now have because of participating in the artifact development process. The skills I now have is a more complex way of using my critical thinking skills, being able to look at the whole clinical picture. As well as, being a leader able to advocate and protect my patient. Also, being able to understand the patient values, beliefs and cultures and not letting my own personal moral get in the way of dealing and caring for my patient. One thing that I understand a lot better is health care policy. As nurses, we should know about the health care policy to explain it to our patient if they have questions in relations to it, being able to advocate, just in case not being treated properly in accordance to their health care policy.
Albert Einstein once said, “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” This quote describes the responsibilities and standards of teaching children. I believe that teachers should be held to high standards for being the foundation of a student’s education and well-being. For my future students, my responsibilities as a future educator include supplementing the growth of a variety of students’ knowledge and creativity, abiding as a role model for students and colleagues, and understanding the issues in the foundations of education.
Cortana is the computing innovation that is represented by my computational artifact. The main purpose and function of Cortana is to assist users digitally through asking Cortana via typing or voice command.(1) For example, my computational artifact illustrates where users can ask Cortana for assistance. With just a click on the microphone or typing in the “Ask me anything” box.
The computing innovation that is represented by my computational artifact is the social media platform: Facebook. Facebook allows users to share their lives with friends and the world. One of the main purpose and function of Facebook is to build relationships around the world. In my computational artifact, it starts by giving facts about the average user and how the amount of people that are active on Facebook have increased over the years. This artifact shows how the amount of time that is spent on facebook brings people closer. The bottom part shows how this is done and what the layout of Facebook currently looks like.
Voxi offers an alternative to the patronising description that is given for the opposition in the form of an admiring description of a group “fired up by new things”, “excited by the possibility of the unknown”, a group that sees “possibilities for making things better”. This flattery largely focuses on verbs, and optimism to portray this group as selflessly trying to change the world. The colloquial language and enthusiastic tone is somewhat contagious by convention, and the open ended and vague nature of the compliments invites the reader to think of all the good the technology could be doing. This allows the reader to feel included because they are led to identify with this group, and thus are more likely to align themselves to Voxi’s position. Voxi compares the pro-technology group to “pearls”, a universally recognisable allusion to something precious. Although Voxi admits that this analogy may be slightly excessive, they maintain that it is the enthusiasts that have progressed humanity. The picture embedded in the text depicts a human head, with microchips seeming to be coming from the brain. Despite the objectively fantastical nature of this concept, the almost diagram-like illustration suggests scientific involvement. This illustration is intended as a visual representation of how the use of technology and the exchange of information digitally could lead to
The computing innovation found in my computational artifact is Stuxnet. Stuxnet is a piece of malware that was specially designed to be used as a cyber weapon. Stuxnet's target was the Iranian nuclear program. The amazing part of the stuxnet malware was the fact that it didn't harm the average computer. The precedence in the past was that malware would harm the computer that it was placed on. Stuxnet would lie dormant until it reached computers with the nuclear program's software on it. My artifact explains how this malware was created and how it was spread around the world.
The second artifact is ceremonies and rites. This artifact is defined as a set of activities that are repeated on important occasions. Ceremonies and rites provide opportunities to reward employees and sends a message to individuals who exhibit the corporate values (Nelson, 2017). Amazon has been rated one of the top ten companies with an “awesome” training and development program for new employees. They offer a month-long training and leadership program prior to hire (Thottam). They also prepay 95% of tuition for employees at fulfillment centers to take course in in-demand fields. The ceremonies and rites artifact has contributed to the success of Amazon. Amazon’s investment in the new hire training program creates a culture where employees
