I give them the usual list of colleges I wish to apply to, but when Hofstra University comes up, people ask me, “why do you want to apply to Hofstra University?” I say there are infinite reasons why I wish to go to Hofstra. The number one reason being that it is really close to home. Hofstra is an excellent school - one of the best schools in New York. Hofstra has over a 100 distinct majors and minors to choose from ranging from Biology to Engineering to American Studies. I plan to major in Biology, and Hofstra is the best for my major because it has resources to offer its students giving them hands on experiences. Being an AP student, I love to take arduous classes

With an acceptance rate of 39%, it will be challenging to have a chance but I am willing to go through with it. Its location is also convenient that it is in Pomona, California. The captive care curriculum is a major I am extremely interested in. I love the hands on component. Specifically the bear tracking program and the live animals on campus. Firstly, I want to follow my passion for the medical field with a biology degree. It will help me to get a good foundation when I get into pharmacy school. Choosing biology as my major is a good opportunity for me to learn new things that are a benefit later when I take the PCAT. Over the years I have thought of many different careers and majors that I believed I should do. Most of the time they were based on what I saw other people, who I looked up to doing. My cousin Courtney was a lifeguard, so I wanted to be a lifeguard, my mom was a nurse, so I wanted to work in the medical field.
