I am attracted to this specific college and program because it is focused enough on what I need to be a Genetic Counselor. This major is not too focused where I would be forced to stay with genetics as a career if I decide to change my mind. Majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology would allow me to be exposed to other biological sciences besides Biology if I do decide to change my career choice.
I plan to minor in Asian Languages, which is also in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. By the time I graduate high school, I will have completed seven years of Chinese language and culture study. I wanted to continue my study of Chinese somewhere where I would be able to further my knowledge of Chinese language
My intended major at this university is sociology. My interest in sociology was developed after speaking to several people while I was in my former school. During my time in school, I always found that observing other people is exciting. I would sit and listen to them talk about their lives, their relationships with their friends, families and teachers. I
It feels like everyday I meet people who ask me what college I want to attend. I give them the usual list of colleges I wish to apply to, but when Hofstra University comes up, people ask me, “why do you want to apply to Hofstra University?” I say there are infinite reasons why I wish to go to Hofstra. The number one reason being that it is really close to home. Hofstra is an excellent school - one of the best schools in New York. Hofstra has over a 100 distinct majors and minors to choose from ranging from Biology to Engineering to American Studies. I plan to major in Biology, and Hofstra is the best for my major because it has resources to offer its students giving them hands on experiences. Being an AP student, I love to take arduous classes
Most importantly, it has the major (Agricultural Science) that I want to take and study in. With an acceptance rate of 39%, it will be challenging to have a chance but I am willing to go through with it. Its location is also convenient that it is in Pomona, California. This school would be a good fit for my personal needs and career aspirations because it has the major I want, is locally efficient, and is one of the few universities that teaches students by having them do it themselves. I will pursue admission to this college and see where it leads me in the
Attending a collage is the first step for your future career. We all knew that if we want a good job we need to work hard and to study smart. Also, you should attend a good collage, which has a good ranking, I chose Susquehanna University because it has all the material to support me reaching my goal. One of the Susquehanna University goals is teach us how to identify and describe the basic principles and theories of the biological sciences, by providing the university very good staffs. Biology department staffs are awesome, they are very helpful and their teaching styles are exciting. I really like the biology major and the university staff made me love it more. When I see my biology class professor I think I want to teach this course, because
In order to review their inherited genetic risks and help them understand and provide counseling according to their specific needs the genetic counselor should know the Trosacks ' have already established that their unborn child has Tay Sachs disease and based on those needs they should be provided with appropriate guidance and counseling as they progress through their pregnancy. The discussion should include what causes genetic disorders, and what that means to the Trosack couple specifically, including dominant, recessive and x-linked disorders. However, recessive disorders should be fully discussed in this case. Another topic to include in the discussion are what genes and chromosomes are, and the relation to Tay Sachs disease.
If I ever truly wanted anything for myself, it is an education at this school while maintaining the least amount of debt possible and graduating with a degree in Biomedical Sciences and Criminal Justice. I believe that with these degrees, I could work with the FBI to change the world. This is a career that I can see myself in, and where I will enjoy myself and feel that all of the effort put towards my degree will have been worth
The captive care curriculum is a major I am extremely interested in. I love the hands on component. Specifically the bear tracking program and the live animals on campus. Instant admissions is a great opportunity for me to see the ferrets, hedgehogs, snakes, and other animals in the small animals room. Also the program has many exciting classes that are personal interests of mine. For example the Animal Behavior and Mammalogy courses. At Instant admissions I can explore your campus and become familiar with the people
The perfect combination of research, personal connection, and health care. Genetic Counseling is the practice of informing and advising patients who may have a potential risk of genetic disorders concerning appropriate testing methods, medical treatment, and many other critical decisions concerning their health. I have chosen to pursue the career of genetic counseling because it fulfills the dream I have had that I will one day be able to do research concerning genetics and interact with the patients that the research would affect. My decision to become a genetic counselor has been influenced by many factors; including my high school biology class, which played a part in introducing me to the profession, and my personal discovery of the unique

Genetic counseling is the job path I want to take when I am older. This profession has a tough price to pay, especially when talking to patients, because sometimes the truth is hard to hear. This challenge is a daily task for genetic counselors, but the job also has great pay, credibility, and work conditions. If I were to go into this field, it will not only be suitable, it will be enjoyable. Becoming a genetic counselor requires a lot of prep in college and tertiary levels of education, but this career is worthy because of the credibility and enjoyment of the field.
Moreover, the main goal I want to achieve is for me to learn a lot about my main interest or my future career. My future career is to be a doctor or a surgeon. In both cases, I want to get the basics down. Since this will be my major I want to take a lot of science courses. Also, science relates to a lot of other subjects mainly math, and technology, which both are in the courses. By being accepted into this school this brings me one step closer to accomplishing my dream goal.
To begin with, I’m taking Advanced Placement Biology because I want to challenge. I want to be able to step out of my comfort zone so that I can really see what I’m capable of accomplishing. I strongly believe
Firstly, I want to follow my passion for the medical field with a biology degree. It will help me to get a good foundation when I get into pharmacy school. Choosing biology as my major is a good opportunity for me to learn new things that are a benefit later when I take the PCAT. At some point, the researchers have shown that people completed in a four-year program to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, chemistry, or in the familiar field would get higher chances of admission to the pharmacy and medical school. So, I need to work hard for it.
Over the years I have thought of many different careers and majors that I believed I should do. Most of the time they were based on what I saw other people, who I looked up to doing. My cousin Courtney was a lifeguard, so I wanted to be a lifeguard, my mom was a nurse, so I wanted to work in the medical field. Then I would be watching sporting events with my dad, and I wanted to be a sports journalist/reporter. It wasn’t until high school that I really started to look at what I liked to do and what I was good at.
Every living thing is the product of the genes that were passed down from ancestors. Genes make up everything we are. One gets their traits from their parents. Most people live full lives with relatively good health. However, some people inherit mutated genes or faulty genes. This could lead to genetic disorders that could be life threatening. Even today, many genetic disorders still remain incurable, leaving many people without hope. Genetic therapy could be their answer. It is through this research that the cure for genetic disorders can be found. Though some people believe it is unethical or immoral to alter genes, current therapeutics have not been able to save the lives of the patients with these diseases. Genetic therapy
