My world is an exciting and thrillful ride nearly each and every day. When it comes to my life nothing ever appears to be boring. Whether I am doing something with my family or within my community or spending time at school there is never a dull moment. At school I could be leading my class in discussion. I could be volunteering at local businesses in my community. Or, simply helping my little brother with his math homework. Nevertheless these are all activities that help shape me and the dreams that I will strive towards.
My family, for example, help me develop my character throughout my childhood and into my adolescence. Each one of them help me learn different things through our relationships. My little brother , who is eleven, teaches me how to be caring and supportive to someone who is younger and to not anger so easy when he makes mistakes. He tells me all the time how he looks up to me and wants to be like me when he grows up. Then my little sister always looks to me for protection. She is the full blown princess of the family and takes complete advantage of it as well she is spoiled to the core. Yet, this teaches me to relax and have fun. By being her metaphorical knight in shining armor and not caring how people look at me as a play with her it teaches me that I can be myself I do not have to fit into the social norms. Lastly there is my mother, who does everything for me, she is the backbone of our family and supports us no matter what. She is always there to take us where we need and want to go and she always makes sure if we wanna do something that we are able to. My mother is nothing more than a hard-working woman with dedication and drive to provide for her children. This has been so amazing to me because she has been the perfect role model to me and has always been my supportive shoulder to lean on.
My community was not, at first, a main priority in my life. But, once I started volunteering I felt great being able to help people in need. Whether it was going to help with the second harvest food bank in town to help however I could or going to middle school athletic events to keep book at a track meet. These types of positive change in and throughout my community made me ecstatic just to be a
Engaging with my community is important because I been helping people volunteer around me since middle school and continuing in high school because of the help I received in elementary. I wanted to help the elementary children because of all the support and help that I received. Helping them makes me think of when I needed help and received through people. I mostly helps with volunteering around with little kids in different elementary schools at my school district. I want them to be safe and help them during their hard times. I wanted to help people because I wanted people to understand what they are learning and have a good education. When I’m volunteering I help keep the children safe and cheer them on when they are competing.
In regard to community, I have volunteered for my clubs, DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), BPA (Business Professionals of America), NTHS (National Technical Honor Society), Cross Country and others. From helping the club itself to representing the club through charitable acts, such as making christmas a little better for military families, or helping at assisted living centers. My parents taught me at a young age how to be a considerate
There are many things I want to do when I am out there in the real world. I am like every teenager out there with countless dreams. I grew up with so many dreams. When I was still young, I wanted to be a police officer, a firefighter, an astronaut, even a doctor! But as I grew up I would narrow it all down to one or two choices and I have to choose one and what I want to be in life soon. I already know what I want to do with my life. What I Intend to do later in life is just to live a normal life and being happy with what I am doing, but since I love exotic cars, I plan on buying one. But buying these types of car is going to cost me huge amounts of money.
Moreover, I often volunteer to do service in my community. I have been doing volunteer work for Walk for Hunger since from 2011. Also I participate many times in school food bank, which school donates food to families who need help. It was a wonderful experience because I was able to help out my community in a positive way. I like to be there for people who are in need because it shows people that I am a caring and loving them.
Actively participating in the betterment of my community is a trait that my family has instilled in me. It not only makes the lives of others better but makes me feel satisfied in providing them that service, that being said I try to help whenever I can and wish to continue doing so for the rest of my life.
While in the big picture I am a rather small puzzle piece. I consider my volunteer work with Cyclone Aid and Irish Miracle to be the most significant events I have done volunteer work with. Cyclone Aid and Irish Miracle are can drives held every year by my school and every year the amount of people that volunteer to walk around the city collecting cans is immense. To me the value of these events is that I get to go home knowing that I have helped feed people for weeks to come by just simply going door to door for donations. The reason I feel so good about helping my community is because when I drive downtown and through some areas it is very visible that some people just are not getting the help they need. In terms of scope, nothing surpasses
When I was a child, my mom had influenced me on every event of my life, from what class I need to take to which kind of clothes I should wear. Later on is my career, she guided my to business, a major that I have no interest in it. By the time she passed away, I have to make my own decision. I took classes from different study area through high school and figures out my strengths and weakness. It helps
There are many people that have the strongest impact in your lives. They are your role model and you want to be like them. These can be your family members, friends, or people that you just see on T.V. Whoever they might be they impacted your life because of want you learned from them. One person that had the strongest impact that made me who I am today is my mom. My mom had impacted my life and made me who I am today because she taught how to treat other how I want to be treated, don't judge other people because of their looks, and if you don't try you won't succeed. These are only the few lesson that I learned from my mom as a kid.
The best parts of being in my community have been going and babysitting every week, learning to love and be "the cool teenager" that I always looked up to for the next generation of kids. These weren't just strangers but people who I come back to year after year because they are just as much part of my life as I have been as there, playing games, doing homework, burning popcorn- all of the memories that come from being together.
Do you ever dream of being the richest person on earth. I do but unlike everybody else dream my came true. It was 11:30 am Tuesday July 5, I was just a boy who dreams big things. It's a very hot day and I needed to hurry and get on a ship to go to Chicago and make my dreams come true. I was running so fast my shoes were starting to burn like a volcano. I'm running and running and I finally make it to the boat and this man says
“Yara, breathe”, my father says in his soft and understanding voice. My nerves get the best of me as the plane shudders. I vomit into one of the bags given to my family and I, which was much needed considering only my father has ever been on an airplane. He would take trips almost yearly to visit his brother in Jordan. That was before the war made it almost impossible to leave our home. Before father lost his job. Before the Syrian war took everything from us.
This famous quote by Albus Dumbledore from Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire has impacted my life in a positive way. Growing up and discovering my dreams continues to be an exciting time in my life, and being passionate enough about those dreams to share them with those around me. The downside to sharing my dreams, one being the dream to become a professional eSport player, came with a lot of negative comments. Being told by those who I thought were my friends, "You're not going to make it", "That's a stupid dream", really hurt me. However, just like Dumbledore tells Harry, it's about how we grow to become what we desire. Over my 17 years of living, various literature pieces have shaped my way of thinking and have prepared me for moving into the ‘real world' post Year 12.
One of my favorite memories as a child was putting on my pink leotard and matching tutu to dance in front of a large window in my living room. I loved to watch my reflection as I did my uncoordinated three-year-old dances. Twirling, jumping, and spinning, my family would always cheer me on with loving adulation. My confidence was always high when I was dancing in front of the window with my supportive family behind me. I would proudly dance in front of the window, often without music, until my small body was too tired for an encore.
I went back to the gym, where I had trained since I was seven years old. It was bouncing with many kids, bursting with excitement. I was one of those kids many years ago, not to know that one day that their dream is gonna have many twists and turns. That they might feel defeated and feel like they never gonna get back up again. But if they try hard enough they can do the impossible just like I did.
I always had a less interesting dream than others; I never really wanted to be anything more than “successful.” Success meant owning a home, being rich, and having a family to enjoy it with--without working. Even though I've had certain career dreams, they were never my passion and I would've been just fine “winning the lottery or marrying a millionaire instead.” I guess it all just comes from the way I was brought up. Growing up on twenty-third in the Mission District already meant I wouldn't get far, with the gang activity and poverty I was surrounded by. My parents used what little money they had to send me to a private school which I am grateful for. In addition, I was from a very traditional Latino household, meaning I'd be held back
