As a young girl, going to a university had appeared to be a farfetched daydream. However, I have matured since those thoughts and have spent countless hours depositing effort to reach this so called farfetched dream. Illinois State University was one of the numerous universities sprinting through my mind. With Bloomington only being 45 minutes away from my hometown, I would be eligible to visit my brother if need be. My younger brother, Payton, has depended on me a great deal since my parent’s divorce. Therefore, it would be in my best interest to be close to home. Secondly, the program and technology offered in my field of study intrigued my longing for knowledge. Illinois State University has often been recognized, by the staff of my high school, as a top notch university for those interested in teaching. Lastly, I chose this 4-year university

I had always went to activities and functions such as football games, summer programs, and other special events. I did not know whether I would attend a historically Black College or University (HBCU) or not at the time. I had finally decided to go to a HBCU, and I would attend Tougaloo College in the fall to further my education. I have many goals and objectives for pursing my educational experience at a historically Black College, and I plan to achieve them.

I selected Governors State University because I earned my Bachelors there and because of the small classes and the diversity of the school. The professors there help you through the courses and are dedicated to their students. I am captivated about succeeding, but even more passionate about Counseling. GSU has started me towards my career and I am positive it will lead me to where I belong in my field. As a student, I am an active participant in academic and clubs. Illinois State University is located in Normal, Illinois. This is approximately 169 miles away from my hometown Belleville, Illinois. I believe Illinois State is a good fit for me because it is only about two and a half hours away from home. It makes me feel good to know that I am close enough to home, if I ever needed to do anything for my family. I also wanted to go to an in-state university, so that I could be close to my family. ASU was the only state school to offer such a program for students like me that are un-sure on which career path they want to take or need guidance pinpointing themselves to a certain area of study. I also feel that ASU being one of the biggest universities in the nation has many more opportunities for their students in contrast to going to a smaller
I have had a lifetime goal to attend college, it just didn’t happen early in life. When I first came to CCU, there was no doubt that getting my bachelors in early childhood would be my major. My passion has always been young children. It started when I babysat as a young teenager and has continued in my life as a preschool teacher. Education is constantly changing: therefore, I feel I need to have more knowledge and wisdom to be the best teacher possible. Education is by far one of the most important tools to have a successful life. With diligence, I want to be a leading educator and to be a gateway for my students to learn. It’s exhilarating how many lives a teacher will touch each day. A teacher has the power to reach out and make learning a positive and memorable experience for every child. Furthermore, teachers are one of the first caregivers for young children. Although I am not at the beginning of my career, while at CCU, I will grow in faith, help and learn from others, and strive to graduate with honors.
My academic goal is to graduate Argosy University with a bachelors degree in Forensic Psychology in three years time. Forensic Psychology is the study of the criminal mind, in a nutshell. The main motivation to achieve this goal would be intrinsic. I love asking questions and knowing the answers as to why people do what they do, and in a criminals case, what led them to committing the crime. This goal, however, may have some extrinsic motivation as well. Being knowledgeable about certain behaviors that criminals poses may help solve or even prevent a crime. In addition, having a degree will help open different paths in life, ones that may present me with greater job opportunities. My attitude toward the learning process will help my achievement of each goal because I am eager, determined and motivated. My greatest desire is to succeed in life, and obtaining an education is one thing I know will help me. I perhaps will need to make some adjustments along my journey. I do not know yet if I will find another educational path that intrigues me the most. For now, I do not feel that any adjustments need to be made.
Going to college has been a dream of mine growing up. I am the first ever in my family to go to college but figuring out how to pay for it has been a challenge. I desire to achieve my academic and career goals and this scholarship can help me succeed in my journey.
Picking the school I wanted was far from simple since I had a few schools that all had their advantages and disadvantages. When I was searching for schools, I looked for two things a Criminal Justice major and a good soccer program. Urbana appeared to be a school that was good academically, so I could focus on getting my degree while playing soccer. One thing I really liked about the soccer team was that there were international students on the team. Meeting people from other countries and learning how their culture differs from ours interested me. Also, the soccer program is well
