My Family Of The Family

Our family of origin plays a large role in socializing us. Specifically, our family of origin “is the family in which we are raised and socialized to adhere to the customs and norms of the culture in which we live” (Welch, 2012, pg. 6). Who our family members are and how they live their lives influences us, helping to make us into the people we become. I owe a lot to all of my family members and a love them all very much. I grew up in a very family oriented environment which makes me place a lot of value on my family members and all they have done for me. On my mother’s side of the family, William and Theresa married in 1935. They gave birth to Joan who is now seventy-nine, and Carol Ann who is now seventy-six. Joan is my grandmother, and she married my grandfather Edwin in 1956. They had Jamie who is fifty-five, Kelly who is forty-nine, and Michael who is forty-seven. My grandparents divorced in 1947, and my grandmother married Ronald in 1980. He had two children from a previous marriage, Doreen who is fifty-four and Ronald who is fifty. Ronald and my grandmother had Christine together who is thirty-five. My grandfather married Kathy in 1976. Edwin is eighty-two and Kathy is eighty-one.
My grandmother Joan is stubborn, but wise and creative. She has lived with me and my parents for many years and has been very influential on my development because of that. She has helped me shape my morals and decide the type of person I want to be. Carol Ann has
