My ancestors were very fortunate to not have to surrender their land, as the Native Americans did. Before the Indian Removal Act of 1830, the land belonged to the Mdewakanton Sioux Indians. The name of my mission is La Purisima Concepcion. Father Presidente found La Purisima Concepcion on December 8th 1787. La Purisima was the 11th mission in the mission chain. This mission is located within the Santa Barbara county in a town called Lompoc. This is the rebuilt mission. The other one, a few miles away, was destroyed by earthquakes.
