My favorite book is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling. It marked the start of an amazing series, just as it marked the beginning of a little girl's passion that would remain for years to come. These books helped and consoled me through the toughest time of my life, fighting off my demons much like a patronus does a dementor. Reading of Harry's triumphs in the late hours of the night saved me many tears, providing a happy escape from my miserable life. Art has always served as an escape, whether one is making or appreciating it. It allows them to take their mind off of worries, doubts, frustrations, and completely focus on a task that comes easier to them than their daily life. For example, to read about and delve into …show more content…
Because of this, one begins to see the humanity inside these books and then connect that humanity to the world. One starts to recognize that there are Dolores Umbridges in the world, there are Voldemorts in the world, there are Albus Dumbledores in the world, and there are Harry Potters in the world. Many works of art are made in the image of the world, to reflect the good and the bad. These works of art can connect us to the world. For example, 400 million Harry Potter books have been sold worldwide, in over 200 territories, and in 68 languages, which means that somewhere halfway across the world, I share a connection with someone, not through language, religion, or race, but through art. Hence, "one cannot bind oneself to [the world] more certainly than through art.”
What Johann Wolfgang von Goethe has stated is not, in fact, paradoxical, for individually, art is an escape from the world, but looking at the world as a whole, art provides connections that language or diplomacy never could. My favorite book is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Reading is a nice way to just sit back and let your imagination be free. In an article titled “How Reading changed my Life” by Anna Quindlen she goes on to talk about how it shaped her as a person and it helps strengthen emotional connectedness. In her book she states, “Socrates was wrong: a reader learns what he or she does not know from books, what has passed and yet is forever present through print”. Ultimately, its about having this joy where we can just grab a book escape and lose yourself in the book, to get lost in the print forgetting about any matters going on in ones life. Being lost and having no care in the world are the reasons to want to grab a book and develop our minds, books will also help shape who we are due to the fact that when we read we are constantly learning new things and educating ourselves. Romanticism can be a feeling used to describe how a reader feels when cracking a brand new book open, the smell of the ink on paper and the creases a book acquires from constant use are physical evidence of the journey the book has taken with its reader that cant be duplicated with an

My experience with literature started when I was in the first grade. My first-grade teacher was named Ms. Young. Every Friday, all the teachers would come together to have story time and read the children a book. I would be so excited for story time because I would sit down with my best friends Ashley and Jordan, and we would listen to the teacher that was assigned to read to us. During story time, all the children would gather around in a big circle and the teacher would be in the center in a big brown rocking chair, and read. Over time in the school year, the children would read bigger and longer books like the Junie B. Jones series, chapter books, and the extreme level, which would be the Harry potter series. Sometimes I would fall asleep because the book that was read was very dull. I remember Ms. Young read to us the “Very Hungary Caterpillar”9 by Eric Carle. I loved that book as a child. It had great illustrations of the caterpillar turning into a butterfly. This book made me love reading for the rest of my life. Now in college, I love to read books. I only
To most people, a significant other, a tragic event, or a loyal pet can change their life and affect them deeply. However, for me it has always been books. I have read many books throughout my life, some more or less significant than others. Various pieces of literature have made me laugh, cry, or have intrigued my adolescent mind. An author has a way to connect with someone in a way that no digital image can imitate.
The Iliad, The Odyssey and The Harry Potter series were always my favorite and no matter how many times I read them, I find new things I missed and record the heroic deeds
There is a beauty in books. Each book opens up your mind to a world unknown. Each page of a book makes you think to yourself "what's going to happen next?". Books give you thoughts and opinions. Books teach you things you never knew. They allow you to escape reality and enter someone else's world. Books
Ever since I was able to perceive and understand the world of arts, I was immediately inclined and interested in it. My range of interest towards the arts are very diverse, they include: literature, dance, and the classical pieces of the Renaissance. Furthermore, my favorite works of literature would have to be The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, and To Kill a
My passion for reading began the summer before junior high, the English class I would be taking had a required summer reading list. I had no desire to read “boring books” over the summer and summarize them. Fortunately, my parents made me read the first book and I was hooked. Consequently, I became obsessed (in a positive way) with this unbelievable adventure; “The Hatchet” by Gary Paulsen; transported me to the wilderness that summer and sparked my love for reading. From that moment on reading became my favorite pastime. Literature expanded my world beyond the Rio Grande Valley I visited the “Island of the Blue Dolphins”, and decided I needed dogs with “Where the Red Fern Grows”. I have several beloved books that I never get tired of reading,
A great work of art that has had a powerful impact on me is the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. The book which is set in Alabama during the 1930’s, tells the story of a young girl named Scout as she faces the reality of life. The novel discuss many hard hitting subject like racism, class separation, and doing the right thing whether it is socially acceptable or not. It has impacted my view of the world and has taught me many lessons that I still use today in my everyday life.
Courage means to have the strength to do something that frightens you knowing it will be difficult or dangerous. Someone can only show their courage through their words and actions. To Kill A Mockingbird is a book by Harper Lee.It revolves around young girl’s life called Scout. Scout lives in Maycomb with her father, Atticus, her brother, Jem, and their cook, Calpurnia. Scout and Jem go through many things and witness many act and types of courage. I have read numerous delightful books by a variety of amazing authors. These books span from the genres of Action and Adventure, Mystery, Romance, and Comedy, some of the titles include: Harry Potter: The Order of the Phoenix, The Help, Bridge to Terabithia, Beloved, The Color Purple, and To Kill a Mockingbird. In my opinion these books all have their great qualities which make them a great read, although I must say if I were to recommend one book out of the group, I would definitely say read To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
The best works, in my opinion, cause you to lose track of time and are so immersive that you can’t think of anything you would rather be doing. The transcendental aspect of literature is something that I am working to perfect.
Book is definitely one the most interesting in the world. Because of our curiosity, we read books to gain our knowledge in different things, it also gives us relaxation everytime we read it.
Many books have significance for me; several of the ones that have remained most influential are not equipollent to those I would list as my "favorites." Desired books are dynamic to follow read and; in spite of this, major books remain those, which form us as people.
