My First And Last Retail Jobs Essay

Since I the age of 17, I’ve always had and kept a job. From toy stores, clothing stores and shoe stores, I had always had a way with retail. One of my last retail jobs was a sales associate at a sneaker store called Journey’s. It was my first and last experience working for commission. I was on the sales floor persuading and competing with my fellow co-workers for a 30% commission. Selling at first,0. became fresh and new experience for me, I had the ability to interact, laugh and enjoy people from all different walks of life while at work. Over a series of months, I was starting to feel untrue and phony, from selling and even over selling to customers. Not only was I being one of the top seller, my own coworkers were trying to compete with me. The sales floor was a jungle and I and my co-workers was fishing out the best prey. There were multiple tactics used in order to complete a sale and then some. Not only are these tactics effective, it can go unnoticed to customers and is made innocent, making potential customers returning customers just as planned.
During the hiring process my boss asked me questions such as my likes, dislikes, and hobbies. Unsure if I was being interviewed or on a date, but soon I learned the environment at Journey’s looked a lot like a skate park, or a fun hang-out place. It might be a coincidence, but I noticed my co-workers were all attractive in some shape of form. I also noticed that my coworkers all represented one of each of Boston
