My First Black President: A Role Model

Barack Obama has impacted America in many ways since he was elected the 44th president on November 4th, 2008. The first African American president of the United States has taken the world by storm and done many great things for this country. Barack Obama has accomplished many things in his personal life, and also as the president of the United States. Obama has affected the world financially, economically, and rebuilt our image as a nation.

Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States of America on November 4, 2008. He was the first black man to be elected to office. Due to the Civil Rights Movement and abolishment of slavery, African Americans gained many new freedoms and possibilities. African Americans gained the right to vote, the right to get a quality education, and they were seen as equals to the whites. This all eventually lead to the election of Barack Obama.

A dog named Squirrel goes through many changes in her life with losing her mother, then her brother, being abused, surviving on her own, making new friends losing those friends and finding a good home for good where she can live her elder years. To me the book basically covers the life of a human, as I got older and repeatedly read the book I realized that it has substantial similarities with the way humans generally go through life. Barack Obama has many achievements and will be remembered well in history. In the past year, Obama took action that directly affected the black community. High incarceration rates, police brutality, healthcare, and education were some of the issues he addressed.

Being president isn’t just about leading, it’s about changing history, changing the future, putting the people’s needs before your own, and wanting to improve America. Finally, Ta-Nehisi Coates shows his support for this claim in his article “The First White President.” In this article Coates discusses how minorities, such as African Americans, have always been outsiders because of society’s racism, but with President Trump they lost all hope of becoming insiders. Before, with Obama as president, minorities had some hope of becoming insiders, “Barack Obama delivered to black people the hoary message that if the work twice as hard as white people anything is possible” which gave light to the possibility of change, but with a different society in charge, all minorities were now more outsiders than before (Coates). This is not a new division, for African American people have always been pushed to the outside.

Throughout our country's history, we’ve come a long way from the first president to our current president. Obama was the best president we've had in the past 10 years, because he changed many things that needed to be changed and he always looked at world as a whole. If I were to agree on who is the best president i would say Barack Obama.

America we had the first ever black president. It was great and give a lot of people hope especially the black community because they have seen it all. Barack Obama made (White) people look at black people in a differently and even if you hated you know he was a classy man.Former President Obama was a role model to many black men. He shows black men that they can be anything thing they put their minds to even the thing that seems to be impossible like being a black president.

Through the years we have realized that the African American community has grown and developed. Our communities have come to live in harmony with one another. Although it took a long time for African Americans to get their say in society, they have come to show the world that they deserve their chance. We have learned that we need each other because it brings more color, music, and new ideas into our lives.

When I survey the landscape in black America, it does not take long for me to recognize the massive impression of a vehement struggle of a collective group of people to simply keep their head above water. The problem in the black community is that it is where every ill of this nation is felt first. It is the place in which much of the economic devastation is felt and absorbed in order to relieve some of the pressure off of this nation’s more affluent citizens.

From the 1920’s to the mid 1930’s a literary, intellectual, and artistic movement occurred that kindled the African Americans a new cultural identity. This movement became known as the Harlem Renaissance, which is also known as the “New Negro Movement”. With this movement, African Americans sought out to challenge the “Negro” stereotype that they had received from others while developing innovation and great cultural activity. The Harlem Renaissance became an artistic explosion in the creative arts. Thus, many African Americans turned to writing, art, music, and theatrics to express their selves.

He is the first African American to in history to run on a major ticket. In the beginning of his campaign a lot of people questioned his authority and wanted to know could he handle the responsibilities of a president for such a big country. “ I want to know how deep is your love for the people, what kind of courage have you manifested in the stances that you have and what are you willing to sacrifice for. This is the fundamental question. I don’t care what color you are. You see, you can’t take black people for granted just cause your black”. (C.West) These questions just made Obama a much stronger person and he continued to fight.

Hemingway’s works for almost a century have been deemed sexist under the scrutinizing eyes of some readers. They stake their claims around examples such as: shorter scene length and tension in dialogue with women compared to more generous length and easier-going conversations with men, protagonist comfort level between men versus women, and sentence flow when women are involved. Critics rebuke said statements by saying although there are definitely sections of text that contain these accusations, there are other examples that show equality between men and women. Hemingway was not gender biased, but his life experiences and personality greatly affected his works, which makes sense due to his personal lack of connection and uneasiness with women (Torma).

Everyday we learn a lesson, but it it is a process that we must go through. It can feel overwhelming at first since the beginning is pretty much a blank space. At a young age my passion for art really showed; however, I didn’t quite understand how to start or knew any techniques that I could use. In time I was able to learn completely. I had many people there to help me in the process and once I did, it felt like I was taught to do something that could only keep progressing in. I learned that my artistic abilities were not automatically exceptional; I needed time and dedication to develop my talent.
