My First Experience of Camp - Original Writing
"AHHHHHHHHHH!" The cry of my fellow companion echoed throughout the musty wooden cabin. "A massive spider!" was the next shout from the top bunk of my bed. Disorientated, and still half asleep, I asked what the matter was. I fumbled for the compulsory torch we had been issued with and switched it on. There was no electricity in the cabin; the torch light cast weird shadows and created an eerie atmosphere. I got out of my sleeping bag to check on him. My friend was quite agitated and clearly scared. He looked at me, with fear etched into his face. He was holding his pillow as if it was something that would make it all go away, but I knew it could not.

My face lit up, and I began to listen intently. We were told to go into the woods and to find as many examples of different vegetation as possible in order to make a poster. We quickly got into groups, and I made sure that I was in the same group as Paul, my friend who had screamed in the night. He was small for his age with short black hair that he used to gel so that it stuck up in the front. We had been best friends since year 2, and I felt protective towards him. We immediately decided to split up in order to find as many different varieties of vegetation to ensure that we had the best. I looked up and all I could see was a sea of green. The smell of plant life and earth was fresh and calming to my senses as I walked towards the wood. The sound of twigs snapping and crunching leaves beneath my feet was the only sound I could hear. All the time I was on the lookout for signs of life that we could use in our poster. I spotted a fern leaf, which would have been perfect for a tree in the poster. As I walked on, I came across an amazing number of interesting samples that would ensure the victory in the poster making competition. I had a spring in my step, everything was going right. I stopped. I looked around me. All I could see were trees. I could hear nothing. Not even the faint whisper
When I was taking a photo of the purple sky and two stretching lakes across the Bonney Pass in the Teton Mountains; I knew this place that I loved had transformed me into a better person and a more confident woman.

“I am evolving from being an animal, ' Shin said. 'But it is going very, very slowly. Sometime I try to cry and laugh like other people, just to see if it feels like anything. Yet tears don 't come. Laughter doesn 't come.” Tears, laughter, this all comes easy to most of the world, but it is much more complex than that for North Korean escapee, Shin Dong-Hyuk. After living in a prison camp for his entire life, it is no wonder how tears and laughter would be difficult to manage. Both Shin’s past and the environment of places like Camp 14 play a significant role in who he is today. Understanding the struggle to assimilate after escaping hell on earth and how all of these events have affected Shin and his mental health is crucial. To fully
Attending Troop N Camp Cadet was truly an experience that I cannot say enough great things about. The camp truly pushed me to my mental and physical limits, and because of that, graduation day was a day I will never forget. As I think back on this experience, many people stand out to me. One of the main groups of people was of course the advisors, which were helped by the junior counselors. I believe that I, being given the opportunity to be a junior counselor, would be provided with a positive experience for many reasons.
Where did you learn to play basketball, play defense and offense, or be part of a team? There’s a good chance it was at camp, right? We know that camp is not just a place for kids to spend a fun summer, but an excellent setting in which kids can learn life skills that they will rely on long after the camp experience has passed.
Hannah is a twenty year old girl from Egan. For the past 3 years she has spent her summers at a bible camp up north called Trout Lake Camps. The first time Hannah stepped foot at the camp she didn’t want to go. She spent the school year there working in the office. Towards the end of his story, Elie doesn’t recognize himself anymore and is unaware of the person he has become. Elie’s changes are apparent in many ways meaning physically, emotionally, religiously. His reactions toward his father during his experiences in the camp has changed as well. Elie hasn’t seen himself in a mirror since he left the ghetto. He couldn’t recognize who was staring back at him through the mirror; he saw a frail young boy who had been put through the worst type of suffrage and torture and knew from that day on ......
The forest gave me a peculiar feeling as I entered. This was because there were no forest animals making noise or motion. But, I continued on walking. As, I was walking I noticed a silhouette appear across a tree. The silhouette
Golden streaks of sunlight cast a soft orange glow on my eyelids causing them to peel wide open. I found myself sprawled out in the pasture I collapsed in upon encountering the being. My heart rate slowed to its usual rhythm as it pounded within the cavity of my chest regaining equilibrium. Lush vegetation surrounded me. The sweet scent of the various species of plants from the bromeliads to the hairy gardenia permeated the sticky air. To my left was a secluded wooden cabin.
“Making the impossible possible” is the motto of Camp Able. Camp Able offers a summer camp experience for people with special needs, whether they be physical or mental. This week-long session affects the lives of many and I can vouch for that. This experience has given me so many fond memories and has filled me with a more humble spirit. All of the staff that takes part in the one-on-one care and assisted daily living are volunteers who graciously dedicate their time and money to go through online certification, staff training, and the week itself. My experience in volunteering for this event caused me to have some very mixed feelings, but I learned so much along the way.
That night our last assignment was to escape from a prison camp nestled in the jungle not far from our location. We were formed up in platoon size chunks and marched down a dusty road with instructions to periodically peel off into the woods when the guards were looking in groups of four. The march began and the Sgt. gave the word that every 30 seconds a different group would run for the woods and work their way to friendly lines. Now with my group we had an officer candidate for West Point when he graduated this phase of training, and he didn’t let us forget that. We were all the same rank though for the moment and we would see what leadership qualities he lacked shortly thereafter. When it came our time to bolt we charged out through ditch
The hike was only a little more ways left to the campsite, and we had to hurry because it started getting dark. The sky had a pink hue, and the clouds were scattered everywhere. We went over a sketchy looking bridge that was over water, and then went down a rather large hill. We finally got to the campsite as the sun was setting. We immediately set up our tents and hammocks to get settled in. After the tents were all up, we started up a fire. We started it out small, and then built it up to the point where it was raging. The five of us huddled around the fire watching cinders shoot of into the air and told stories for hours. The fire started to die down so we put it out and went to bed. I took my one person tent and my sleeping bag and went off to hit the

As I left behind the somber forest, I now recognized an appreciation for nature that I did not realize I had. I now knew there was more to nature than just trees and animals, but also I found the
