My first turkey
Have you ever shot a turkey? Do you know what it feels like when you shoot a turkey? Well, I have. I woke up and jumped out of my bed, hopped in the car and we were off. We got there and walked to our hunting blind. Just in case you don't know what that Is it’s where you sit and wait for a turkey to come by but It’s not that easy at all. You have to call in the turkey. I have been waiting forever for a turkey. I felt like today was the day. We were about to leave then out popped a hen. Then out popped two toms. I was shaking really bad and my dad had to help get my gun up. Gobble gobble gobble omg he's coming! The tail was so pretty and bushy. By then I totally forgot about the crisp morning air. The gun was freezing on my cheek. then I took the gun off

I scream with a reply of YES!! I will be freezing, but I want to get my first deer. So we head out and my fingers are so numb in the first five minutes. I tell my dad I thought I heard something cause I did, we waited the next ten minutes. There was nothing so I think I was just hearing things. then I see a buck I say dad there it is. He said to get on him and shoot. So I got on him and I shot the deer ran off. We waited twenty minutes to track him and when we are traking him we see a buck that looks exactly like him and my dad said stop maybe we can get another shot for you. The I see a dead deer up ahead and I say that's not, my deer my deer is right there! Then we took pictures and we headed back
Both essays cover two very different subjects Dave Barry’s essay covers sexism as he chose Thanksgiving dinner prep as the focus point so that he can point out how a simple family gathering is one the most sexist events that happens throughout a year. While David Sedaris takes place in his youth, right away you can tell that young David is plagued with severe OCD and not the cleaning kind. His essay starts out with his teacher scolding him for licking the light switches in the classroom, and he doesn’t understand why he gets in trouble for it. Both essays are done very well and both are connected by humor. Dave Barry on sexism and David Sedaris on mental illness but David Sedairs’s in my opinion is the better essay.
To conserve, to hunt, and to share; three key components in the conservation and preservation of the hunt and the habitat. These are the three ambitions of the National Wild Turkey Federation and it is essential to keep these pretensions alive and well in our everyday lives. Today, I write to you in regards of the federation’s scholarship opportunity. I believe I possess the qualities that help enhance these goals of the Turkey Federation.
When we put the boat back in as we are driving down the bayou we see some duck swimming in the woods and we stop and pull up and tie off the boat and start walking to them. Well, as we are chasing them we jump some up but we don't shot. Well, when we find the ones we were chasing and we shot my dad hits one and it lays there and as we go to get it gets up and flies away. well we decided to go get the boat and the decoys and hunt there well on the way out my cousin gets the bright idea to try to climb over the log instead of going around it and I said ¨ have fun trying to get over that log¨ and he said ¨ I will.¨ When he gets to the top of the log and gets stood up he losses his balance and slips and falls as he is falling he drops his gun in the water and luckily it hits his legs and he catches it and when he gets up he looks like he is going to cry and then I bust out laughing and so does my dad then my cousin just starts laughing. When we got to the boat my dad said do you all want to hunt here or go were we normally do and we said were we normally do and he said ok. When we get there my cousin takes his waiters completely off and dumps the water out of them and puts the back on and when we get to our spot there ducks are everywhere. We end up going home with every body limited out which mean everybody kills their limit
Things were just going great! I thought for sure that they were going to shoot my Moose. But my dad wasn't going to let that happen. We ran right by the truck and set-up in the nearest spot we could see the Moose. It was a pretty bad position and I was basically laying backward in the middle of a bush trying to get steady. The other hunters were kneeling down and looking through their scopes. My dad could not believe his eyes and all he said was "shoot, and make sure you get
The next Monday coach gave us practice off so I headed home again. That night I went over to my brother's house and borrowed his shotgun because it had a fully rifled barrel with a scope. This gun was much better than mine. While I was there we talked about where he had shot his deer and where he had saw other deer. I headed home that night with little hope that I would actually get a deer at all. It was really cold when I got up the next morning. I headed out to a spot near where my brother shot his deer. As I walked out the snow covered ground crunched under my feet. I got set up in my spot and settled down for the wait. I was sitting there for about forty five minutes when I heard a noise.
The excerpt ‘Turkey’s in the Kitchen’ by Dave Barry was written to portray his thoughts on gender roles in a common setting. Barry’s purpose in writing this piece is to address the steryotypes that are placed on men and women’s roles in household duties by using a humorous approach. The author uses personal anecdotes, humor, and diction to establish pathos and ethos to appeal to the audience.
First, At about eleven o'clock I was riding around on my deer lease just listening to music and looking for deer. Also I was checking my game cameras. Next, I checked my deer camera and I thought I would make a circle and see if I could see any deer. So we are about halfway through making a circle and we start seeing some deer. Also, we saw a really big ten point, but it's about eleven thirty now and it's getting frigid .
Trying to make as little noise as possible I walk to where I will sit. Along the way, I creep over a knoll and jump four deer browsing on small alders. Immediately upon seeing me, they streak through the trees; I stop and listen to their feet pounding into the earth, and realize there are many deer in the area and my chances of seeing a deer while sitting will be very good. After 15 minutes of sneaking through the oaks and maple trees I find the tree I will sit in. My father set the the stand in the tree a few weeks before my arrival. I crawl up and as I sit down it is just getting light in the east.
The wild turkey is an animal most people have heard of because of hunting reasons, but do you know the basic facts? The wild turkey species has 6 subspecies; these include the eastern wild turkey, Osceola (Florida) wild turkey, Rio Grande wild turkey, Merriam's wild turkey, Gould's wild turkey, and Ocellated wild turkey. These turkeys are different in color but are mostly the same because they are the same species of animal. The wild turkey is dark in color, either brown, black, or a similar color. Their wings are dark and are boldly barred with white.

How many people eat and hunt for turkeys each year? There's way too many I have to hide and run to live but they always use decoys to attract us. One time it was me and my best friend a hunter had shot him to death and I was hit with one BB. I got to live another day but for how long. Can you believe that we used to be an national symbol. Even Benjamin Franklin was for us to be a symbol. I even seen my own mom get shot at good thing he is just a little boy because she got grazed that's it. But uncle Charley wasn't so lucky we had ventured to someone's yard and they kind of shot him then cooked him.
I am a loving turkey. Thanksgiving is my least favorite holiday. I have to run around the yard and try not to get killed. Let me properly introduce myself. I am Jingle the turkey. I am named Jingle because my owners got me last Christmas. I am only two years old now. I have three, well now two other brothers. Our owners choose one of us each Thanksgiving to make for the family. The family isn’t very nice either. I would be fine being eaten if it were my favorite people. Well, actually no. Turkey’s have feelings too. We are living things with families. I mean we don’t eat people. That actually brings me on to me next topic.
So the next day I went out to the woods again and started looking for arrows. I found a few good sticks and took them back to camp and started sharpening them. I put a little crease in the end of the arrow and then put in the quiver then I shot it and surprisingly it went pretty far probably a good 20 feet. So I took it out and started looking for food then I saw it a rabbit sitting right in front of me I put the arrow in the quiver and I shot it. I took it back to camp and I realized I had to skin it so I used my rock knife to skin it and I found another straight stick to stab the rabbit and then I cooked it over the fire. I was
Throughout history, the middle east has often been the focus of news reporters. A middle eastern country that has not been exempt from this, is Turkey. Turkey has not only been a focus, but it also has had a very long, complicated history.
After that we sat in silence for about 20 minutes until the cold began to nip at my feet and the tips of my fingers which made me very restless but I tried to do my best so I would not scare away the deer. When we hit the 60 minute mark I was bored out of my mind, I thought I would go crazy, but suddenly my Father grabbed my coat and pointed out Words the west side of the field that we were watching. I
