Though I have never had a real job, I have accumulated work experience in a different way. Most days I must complete chores around the house, such as doing the dishes, cleaning the bathroom, or stacking firewood. I also cut my dad’s hair and mow my grandparents’ lawn. Doing these tasks has taught me not to complain but rather to stay positive no matter the circumstance.
I worked three hours on Saturday 8/15/2015 and three hours 8/16/2015 at Old Navy. I worked on the registers both days. Saturday was the slowest day I have ever worked so far. This is probably due to the fact people were no longer back to school shopping and it was late at night. I learned about what to do when it is slow in the store which is organize the merchandise in the lines and in the front of the store. My manger gave me the project to organize the shoes which tend to get very messy. This posed a challenge as there were no hangers for all of the shoes on the rack. I had to strategically place them so the rack to look neat. I also had organize the sunglasses and jewelry. I was then taught how to take out the trash and re-bag the hanger
Through out my high school career I never took my education seriously. For most of the four years it was a big blur. I’m not quite sure if it was because of me or if I found myself blaming my surroundings or teachers for my lack of focus and strive to learn. A failure can mean different things to everyone else. Maybe there’s just different types or categories of failures. These failures are meant to teach us something, or motivate us to simply not make these mistakes again.
Early on, I didn’t notice it. Work kept coming in and clients continued to seem pleased. However as the year came to a close, my work began to feel — different. Not bad or inferior. Just different.
The day starts with me walking up to the front doors of AMC. I knock on the door and wait for the manager to let me in. A gust of wind blows past cutting right through my fleece jacket making me flinch. One of my managers opens the door and I retreat into the warmth of the theater. I go to the back of concessions, then to the break room and wait till five minutes before I'm scheduled to work to clock on. I clock on and put on my AMC hat. I'm working concessions
When I worked at Popeyes, my position was a crew member. The atmosphere varied everyday but the one thing that remained the same was the goal of making the customer happy and satisfied. When I arrived, I had to log in and look on the board to see where I would be working. Most of the time I worked drive thru. Before taking my first order, I had to count my drawer and make sure that it contained the same amount listed on the drawer sheet. After that, I could start my day. When taking orders, I had to remember to
“Work Like a Fool, Dream Like a Genius.” Ban Ki-Moon, the Secretary General of the United Nations, said through his biography. This quote shows how to live properly to all people in the world. It also shows how important it is to have a dream. Some people might say that having a dream is worthless to live in the reality because even though people have a dream, most people cannot make those dreams come true. Consequently, people compromise with the reality, and they choose profitable jobs regardless of what they really want to do in the future. However, I believe that I can achieve what I want out of my life through what I did in the past, what I do in the present, and what I will do in the future regardless of whatever hardships of the reality will block my way.
