I have probably changed my mind when it came to my future career at least a hundred times. I have dreamt of being a teacher, a writer, a marine biologist, a baker, an occupational therapist, and many more things. Now, I know for a fact I want to go in to the medical field. I want to make a difference in people’s lives. After taking the job interest survey and going through the wide variety of jobs to my interest I have decided. I want to be a pediatric surgeon.
I have no doubt in my mind that my interests and my choice in career will change within the span of the next five years but for the past year I’ve been set on being a surgeon. I have hopped from speciality to speciality and at times thought it would be too hard and contemplated

Also, every time I had to go to the doctor when I was little I dreaded it all the time, just like every other kid in the world. Doctor appointments are scary, especially when they end up involving surgery. In this career, I have the ability to put these kids that are going through a rough time that they did not ask for at ease and at least try to make them smile a bit. That reason alone is enough to make me choose this job and specialty.
Within the time from me deciding I want to be a surgeon to now, I have found out a lot of information about the occupation. You have to have many skills and abilities including active listening, critical thinking, judgement and decision making, oral comprehension, oral expression, and inductive reasoning. You also have to have integrity, concern for others, stress tolerance, analytical thinking, attention to details, and above all you have to be dependable. The knowledge that is required is what you would expect, medicine and dentistry, english language, and therapy and counseling. In order to become a pediatric surgeon I will have to get my doctoral or professional degree and go through an intern year and a residency. I plan on attending Dartmouth College which is an Ivy League School and ranked one of the best learning institutions in the world. The only downside is it is in New Hampshire. I planned on
A Pediatrician is a child’s physician, dealing with the physical, mental, and emotional well being of the child. You undoubtedly have to have a strong love for children and have patience to be a Pediatrician. If you don’t like children then it is apparent being a Pediatrician is not the job for you. I have dreamed of being a Pediatrician since I was 7 years old, ever since I was rushed to the emergency room for an accident I had. I remember how the doctor interacted with me; he introduced himself, and he explained what a Pediatrician did. He told me step by step what he was doing, as he was doing it, and how he was going to do it. From then is when I realized that doctors were not scary, and since that day I have dreamed of becoming a
For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. These interests were most likely brought to life from my desire to want to help people and learn more about the human body. The experiences I’ve had throughout my life have brought me closer to the belief that I can one day make a difference in the world through medicine. All though I am not completely decided on what I would like my future career to be, I have been able to narrow my options down to a few of the many choices available.
I have had a passion for becoming a healthcare provider for children for quite a while (for a long time). Children are one of the most important individuals of society because they are the future and will one day be in charge of the world. Their health at a young age is indicative to how their health will be as adults. Childhood has a great effect on how a person turns out to be so I hope to help children I hope to use prevention and education to preserve and restore the health of my patients. My career goals are to prevent children from having to spend time in hospitals or in pain and to help them live out their life and dreams to the fullest extent. Children play a very large role in their families, and when a child becomes sick, the whole family becomes distressed. Pediatricians not only heal children, but they help and prevent a family from suffering. I love medicine and children, and I hope to combine these two passions by becoming a pediatrician.
It wasn’t until previously from watching Grey’s Anatomy and Nip/Tuck that I realized I want to become a pediatric neurosurgeon. The fact that I would be able to help children while still focusing on the most precious parts of the body, the brain and spinal cord, really made me want to work harder in everything I do. I would be able to gain skills like patience and precision which I never had as a child would help me to mature into a better person as well as surgeon because the amount of accuracy I would search for in everything I
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” As a child, we have all been asked this question; and as unrealistic children, we all had dreams of being a superhero, princess, cowboy, or astronaut. Later on in life, as time went by, and as we became more knowledgeable, our answers became more serious. Some of us wanted to be teachers, business owners, or a veterinarian. However, I have always wanted to be a doctor, but not just any doctor. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a pediatrician. Now, half way through my junior year in high school, I have started to question the details of this career, and all the hard work it takes to become a part of the medical field.
Another career that I have interest in is being a surgeon. To become a surgeon an individual must complete four years of medical school, two years of internship, and two years of residency (The College Board). This is a huge disadvantage to this career. An advantage that this career has to offer is that being a surgeon you are able to manage a team of
Ever since I went to the hospital in fourth grade, I knew I wanted to have a career in the medical field. After highschool, I plan to go to college and then pursue my job in the healthcare world. My goal is to be successful doing the job that I love. To achieve my goal, I have good people skills and like working with others, and I have done a lot of group work, which will help me in the future. Getting into a group called Club Scrub, a learning experience about different medical careers located at the Monroe Hospital, will also help be choose which specific medical career I want.
The career I choose to become when I’m older is a pediatrician. I choose this career because when I was in the second grade our teacher was teaching a lesson on what you want to be when you 're older. I had no clue but I always wanted to help someone or something in needed like for example a vet or doctor.
I aspire to be a surgeon, I always wanted to. No matter what others opinions were, no matter who tried to drive my plans

The story in which I concluded that I wanted to become a surgeon all started in my sophomore year of high school. I joined allied health science at a vocational school mostly because it seemed interesting and my mom said she took allied health science when she was in high school. At first, I wasn’t so sure about this class and I was thinking about joining police science. I ended up staying with allied health instead because I don't give up on things and my mom thought I should stay as well. I ended up really liking allied health and studying all the different things involved with anatomy. I always get really good grades on my test and allied health became my hobby; it didn’t seem like school to me. Then I started to think about what I wanted
I believe that I will succeed in becoming a pediatric surgeon for many reasons. First, this has been my lifelong dream and nothing will deter me from achieving my dream. Second, I have done a lot of research on which college has a good science department. Third, I took part in my high school’s sports medicine class because I am interested in injuries/illnesses and how to treat them. Fourth, I have a plan for where I am going to med school and where I will be doing my residency.
For a while, I was unsure what type of career in medicine I wanted until I witnessed my first surgery. A valve replacement was the first surgery I have ever witnessed. The dedication and intricate work that the surgeon and his team put forth to save the patient’s life instantly fascinated me. Throughout the surgery, the doctor remained focused and worked diligently with the team, almost in a synchronous matter. The surgeon not only maintained being in charge of the operating room, but he was also able to work efficiently with the team at the same time. Witnessing the surgery changed me and instantly made realize that I wanted to not only be in the surgery room, but to be the surgeon. The entire process compelled me to look more into
