"Here's your locker combination. Just go right down that hall," said Mrs. Breech pointing toward the sophomore hall. I walked into the sophomore hall so that I could find my locker and make sure that my combination worked. I turn the shiny black dial right to 27, left to 49, right again to 32. Clicking at each number, the lock clicked once more as I lifted the small silver latch. I was ecstatic that my clean, creamy white locker had the correct combination. That would make my life a lot easier when school started in two weeks. On the first day of school, my locker is still clean and radiant in the fluorescent hall lighting. Gradually books accumulate on the bottom shelf, and syllabuses and lists of rules fill the top shelf. My …show more content…
They also add a little fruity pizzazz to the stale air. Joining the fruit loops on the bottom shelf, are the contents of the entire Library of Congress, which includes my English, history, chemistry, and algebra textbooks. Also on the bottom shelf is a dark pink magnetic organizer that has detached itself from the magnet. The magnet hangs on the locker wall, lonely without its companion and bearing gluey emotional scars. The gray sweatshirt on the hook has been replaced with a heavy Pacific Trail jacket that is the same color as the deep blue waters at Morrow Point. A pair of blue and red striped gloves peek from the pocket of the jacket. My wallet, which contains my driver's permit, brings light into the pocket that it shares with the gloves, by casting radiant beams of light off of my Eiffel tower key chain. On the very bottom shelf is a small photograph album, whose front cover is decorated with some type of green leaf. Inside are my favorite photographs; my grandparents on their wedding day, my mother's senior picture, a delicate ballerina, the Denver Zoo, my best friends from Denver and last but not least my sixteenth birthday cake. A fully stocked pantry on the upper shelf includes such items as, a Kit Kat, golden almond and oats 'n' honey granola bars, and a chilled mixture of unsweetened coffee and hot chocolate in its own 13 ounce cup with rendition of Van Gogh's Starry Starry Night. The cup not only holds the coffee; it adds
I found that there's people in high school that's going to want, what you have. I realize I don't have the luxury of explaining myself every time and I shouldn't have to. I see people finesse other people to get there way. They will be friends with you in the beginning but turn into your worst enemy at the end. During school, I had P.E class as my 2nd period and I had to change my clothes to get a good grade. As I took the lock out of my Locker, I started putting my clothes inside my locker and putting my iPhone in my bag. As soon as I put my bag in the locker, someone came to me and ask "is coach here today?" And I said " no, we have a substitute" he said " ok thanks man". After that we all left the locker room to go to the gym. I went back to my locker (the
Suddenly, I recognized the building. Just last week, I had visited the exact same campus. My eyes explored the hall in front of me for the second time. It’s Early College High School, I realized. This
Like most my age, I am always equipped with a smart phone. Many would deem it necessary in this day and age. Some people get them as young as 10 years old. I only carry one per my parent's request. Not to say that I don’t enjoy the perks of having it with me: access to any answer for any question that might be asked, the capability to talk to my family and friends at any given moment throughout the day, and plenty of applications to screw around with if I find myself with extra time. It weighs almost nothing, so light that at any given moment I will panic because I worry I lost it. It holds a different kind of weight though. It is heavy in the moments that it is “lost”, when there is a fear that it is not with me,
The first thing you notice is the harsh, musty smell that hits you like a punch in the face. Always crowded the boys locker room at Brooke Point High School leaves some vivid and unsettling memories. The walls were lined with small red lockers, all filled with cloths that were drenched in sweat. It had a water fountain that in the four years I attended, never was functional. The two stalls located in the middle of the long hall were functional, but never had toilet paper in them. The experiences I had in that room were awful, mainly due to the fact that all the schools money went to fund the football teams locker room and weight room. If you weren't on a sports team you were forced to change in a old musty and disgusting locker room.
behind that cabinet is another identical cabinet, except this cabinet is filled top to bottom with towels. Yellow, ripped, color stained towels that have been used by the Career Center for who knows how long. Following around the corner on the outside of the teacher’s office is another counter that has the nail polish rack, and underneath it in all the cabinets hand sanitizer, pedicure products, and other miscellaneous nail care
She returned to my backpack, once again sorting the mundane from the forbidden. My Little Mermaid compact went into the biohazard bag. The mirror. Breakable. Could be a sharp. My pulled out my school journal, quickly flipped through it before taking my pen out of it and putting it in the bag. Sharp. My charging cable went into the bag. Could be used to strangle
First and foremost, it makes sure that there is no firearm in the locker. There have been 142 school shootings. Teachers could help make sure that number does not grow by checking lockers to see if there is anything dangerous like a gun or a knife. Students might get mad at each other and try to harm someone. For instance if a girlfrend is stolen or sport position lost to another kid or if a student is getting bullied and
When we were playing ultimate football inside one of the players threw the ball to one of the sideline players. When he threw it to me for the touchdown I dove for it and caught the ball and got a touchdown. When I fell to the ground Jacob started running to try to stop me from catching it he was trying to slow down so he was basically stomping to try to stop himself. Then he stomped on my hand I yelled in pain Dawson helped me up it hurt really bad and then Mrs Dibbens asked me if I was ok. I said yes because I thought that it was just a little injury and it would be better by my next hour. When I went into the locker room I tried to change but my hand hurt to much. But I managed to do it the hardest part of changing was when I was putting on my shoes. When I left the locker room I was about 5 minutes late to my next period. When I got there he asked Mr. Hatch asked me why I was holding my hand. I told him that Jacob Haag stepped on my hand. I asked him if I could go to the nurses he told me yes and I
As I write this, I’m in between apartments and living at home for the time being, so I’ve taken this moment of desperate, post-collegiate aimlessness solitude to clean out my childhood bedroom. The small pile of sweat-stained band t-shirts, folders of AP History notes my high school teachers insisted I’d need in college, and Mad Magazine issues are worth some nostalgic currency, but I had no idea I was stocked in pitiful high school mix CDs.
You enter the large set of double doors leading into the main hallway of yet another new school. Your mind drifts to your old school as you observe your own reflection in the glass insets of the entry doors inviting you into a new world. A world you’d rather not be a part of, not now. This is not a new experience. It’s one that keeps repeating itself over and over. Larson Junior High will make the second school you’ve attended in the short time of being a ninth grader, and a total of eight schools since beginning the first grade.
After leaving elementary, I was a little nervous to start middle school because I thought the work was going to be hard. I attended McIntyre in sixth grade, which was not far from my elementary school. I was surprised that my mom had attended McIntyre when she was a little girl. I was excited when I got there, because I would always hear how things were so different in middle school— lockers, more activities, and more freedom. It was cool that all of us (sixth graders) had a whole building to ourselves, which meant no crowded hallways! McIntyre was the only school that I went to that had lockers. I was glad that there were lockers because before school started that year I was practicing combinations on a lock. I struggled at first to go to my lockers in between classes, but then it was all a piece of cake when I remembered my combination. I met nice teachers, and made a few more friends in middle school. Some of my friends from elementary also attended McIntyre. I became apart of club in sixth grade, called the National Junior Honor Society. At first I didn’t know exactly what the NJHS was, but I was told that it was
Locker checks are used to make sure no one is doing anything wrong or has anything they should not have. When lockers are being checked it may cause people to start getting mad at principles and that would cause more disrespect towards others. When doing this it is not letting students have trust and freedom from principles , invading student space, and there is no need for it unless there is suspicious activities happening.
(The scene opens on a school hallway. Lockers line one side. They are split in half: there is one locker on top, and one on the bottom. There is a group of high school girls talking and giggling next to the lockers. Ella Clark is one of the girls, and she is opening a locker on top, while talking to another girl. Enter Dahlia White. She kneels down at one of the lockers on the bottom, and starts to open it.)
Among the objects on the bottom shelf are a Terrestrial globe, a Arithmetic book, a set-square, a pair of dividers, a lute, German hymn-book and a case of flutes.
It looks as if it’s the same size as a football field. . As you step in, you immediately sink a couple of inches because of how plush the caramel colored carpet is. The long glamorous chandler hangs from the high vaulted ceilings. Immediately to your left is a marble sink, with silver pull out fixtures and deep sink bowls. On the sink there is an automatic soap dispenser on the right and an automatic hand dryer on the left. Both made of sterling silver. The burnt orange and brown colors on the wall are so bright, it looks like the sun is shinning directly above the room. The walls are covered with many paintings. Some of famous artists that color the walls are Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Pablo Picasso. Many of the others are from unknown starving artist. To the far right of the room there is a solid wood bar hutch that looks as tall as an oak tree. Any drink that you can think of, is there in that bar.
