Gautama Buddha once said that “Our thoughts are most important. All that we are is the result of our thoughts.” For most, many don't realize how powerful our thoughts are. I believe that our thoughts do create our reality and the things in it. Being in control of one's own destiny is everyone's wish, but everyday people let their circumstances define them and forget that they have the power to change their world. Even I sometimes get carried away and forget that I am truly in control of my reality. I know that because of our thoughts we create our destiny which is a reflection of our identity. One has to truly understand who they are to make conscious choices that can positively affect their life.

Although I was very mature for my age, I naively thought that childhood dream of becoming a famous singer would work out exactly how I planned it out in my head. At the time, I felt as if I already knew what I wanted from life and that had already found my calling early on. I was an individual that was positive about my circumstances. As years progressed on, things had changed drastically. I was no longer that child that was always positive on how I was going to make it as a young adult, had started to doubt myself and my surroundings. When I started the Atlanta International School two years ago, it was quite different than my last school, things were vibrant and new. I made many friends and felt welcomed by the community. Questioning constantly about one's destiny can make someone forget their true purpose. As for myself, I couldn’t expect my life to change overnight. It was going to be a long process. As time passed on, slowly but surely, I saw small changes. I felt better about my life and more in control. I didn't look at things in a negative way and felt myself become the person I wanted to be
