Becoming a radiology technologist requires a large amount of research and studying which I have done so myself and will be sharing what I have learned. I will be talking about the education and training needed to become a radiologic technologist. I will also explain job duties and salary for
There are many career options in the health field to choose from with each one being very unique in their own way. One field that everyone has heard of and seen portrayed is nursing. It has been depicted in everything from television shows, movies, novels, and just about anything else that comes to mind. They are the people in the hospitals and doctor’s office that spend time with the patients and do practically all the duties of a doctor and more, with the exception of having the ability to diagnose and prescribe prescriptions and treatments. All of this is done without the eight years of pre-med and medical school that doctors are required to attend. Radiography on the other hand is a lesser known field, being a more silent, independent career choice.
I am pursuing a career as a radiologist technician due to a number of reasons. It first started with my fascination of the complexity of the human body. In high school I had no idea I wanted to go into the medical field until I took an anatomy and physiology class, and this subject fascinated me. Solving problems and seeing results is something I want out of a career. I am looking forward to the life-long learning that is involved with a job in the healthcare field. As such, I am interested in a specialization in radiology so I can continue my education and provide a higher level of care to ill patients. Caring for the well being of others has always been one of my priorities and working in radiography would create opportunities for me to provide
I have learned a lot when it comes to patient care, radiation protection, safety precautions of radiation, anatomy of the body, how to position patients for certain exams and soon to be much more. I am glad I chose this profession to go into because without radiologic technologists we would not be where we are today with diagnosing tumors, cancer, diseases, surgery and low infection rates in surgery as well and much more. Radiologic Technologists are very important no matter what people may think. Many think it is as simple as pushing a button but there is way more to this job than that, that nobody knows about or understands. We are just as important as a nurse, doctor, surgeon, and anyone else in the healthcare profession. I am glad I get to be the one behind the scenes helping people figure out what is going on inside of their body. I cannot wait to graduate in 2017 and become a registered radiologic
My ambition is to follow a course which combines my two favorite subjects Biology and Physics. I have always been attracted to the medical field because it combines human compassion with knowledge and technology. I am interested in sonography because it allows me to have a direct involvement with patients
Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a career that falls within the medical and health field. Diagnostic medical sonographers utilize machinery known as sonographic scanners. There is a lot of time and dedication needed as well as important information to know and understand about the career before deciding whether or not this is the chosen path that will be taken. I have decided that DMS is the career I want to be successful in because I have always had the interest of becoming a prenatal sonographer. I love working with people and I also wouldn’t mind being the person that could potentially save someone else’s life by
Amelie Landry Professor Evans English 102-2WA 20 March 2012 Diagnostic Imaging: A Sound Career in Sonography One of the main reasons for choosing a healthcare career in todays society, aside from the basic need for a self sustaining income, is the opportunity to make differences in peoples lives. With the demand for healthcare professionals and alternative medicines on the rise, so is the need for adequately educated trained personnel. Diagnostic Medical Sonography is becoming an increasingly attractive alternative to radiologic procedures such as x-ray and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Accounting for approximately 50,300 jobs in the United States in 2008, compared to the 214,000 jobs held by radiologic technicians, according to
Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a career that I just learned about this year. I never expected to do anything in the medical field but the more I research about this career, the more it interests me. I love helping people and another career path I have looked at is something in pediatrics. With sonography, I would be able to look at the fetus and make sure everything is fine with the pregnancy. There would be many aspects of this job that I think I would enjoy.
Deciding to be a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer was not an easy or fast decision. Like everything else in life, my decision was gradual and time-consuming. However, being involved in the medical field was always something that I longed to do. Most other kids want to be a
The career that I have chosen is to become a diagnostic medical sonographer. Diagnostic Medical Sonographer’s use imaging equipment that directs waves into a patient’s body and sends echoes to an ultrasound machine which create an image. They help gather sonographic data to diagnose medical conditions and diseases as well as monitor fetal development. Sonographers must be able to perform appropriate procedures and provide anatomical, pathological, and psychological information. Sonographers must be able to provide information about the ultrasounds to the patients and be able to promote good health.
The career path that I am choosing to follow is Diagnostic Medical Sonography. This career involves the use of frequency waves to view tissues; organs and blood flow inside of the body. My main career goals involve getting into the program, then getting a solid career in this profession. From there I plan on growing and getting even more education if it is offered, as well as branching out into other fields of Songraphy.
1. In addition to working full time and attending school as a full time student, I shadowed a Dosimetrist and a Radiation Therapist at Gamma West Cancer Services for approximately 30 hours over a one month period. This job shadow included participation in the care of cancer patients and use
So many that it can be hard to choose one specific profession. But ultrasound stands out from the rest. When I say to someone that I am going into the healthcare field they assume I want to be a nurse or pre-med. So it’s always great to see how shocked they are when I say Ultrasound. It is just not the normal response and it motivates me to be a part of something that isn’t as well known and make it well known. Also I want to be able help someone find a diagnosis. I want to be the key to helping give people answers. It also lets me be independent and make my own judgements. I will get to use my creativity and see something new everyday. Most importantly I’ll get to interact with my patients and work one on one with them giving them personal care. There are so many different options and sub-specialites that go with ultrasound that I would be able to continue to learn and expand my knowledge. One of the greatest things about Ultrasound is I would be able to obtain employment anywhere in the world. I would love to travel and see knew places and culture and ultrasound is a profession that will allow me to do that. Ultrasound will challenge me daily and help me improve myself so I can improve the care I give to others. Science/technology is know as being the mystery of life and for me to be able to use it daily to help people is amazing. Ultrasound comes with many good qualities, but there are always bad qualities. Accepting that
1) I am not well equipped to deal with blood. 2) I wanted a future in the medical field. And then one day, I stumbled upon the specialty of medical imaging, and I knew this was a career I could pursue and eventually succeed in. Many days after that were filled with researching every possibility within the area of imaging, and between my research and a tour of the radiology department, I was hooked. With so many different modes of imaging, I enjoyed contemplating which one I would thrive in, and so began my fascination with x-rays and ultrasonography. With this in mind, so begun my journey at Boise
Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program matches my intelligence for several different reasons. The Anatomy and Physiology of the human body intrigues me just thinking about how the different organs, bones, and systems work. My deep interest in this area is one of the many reasons I decided to pursue a career in this field.
