A career in healthcare is very rewarding, both emotionally and academically. Diagnostic radiography is a rare combination of healthcare, science and technology- three of the things that I am really passionate about. The reasons why I grew a keen interest into radiography is because of the patient care and welfare, the lifelong learning and the opportunity to work in a vast range of departments. I always knew I wanted to study the human anatomy. The use of technology to look inside the human body for anatomical complications and how it is affected by injuries really fascinates me. I have researched the modules in this course and I believe that I have the most of the essential skills that are required such as communication, transferable, interpersonal
My interest in Sonography first stemmed from another career interest in computers. I gained my problem solving skills at a young age through using computers. I was able to decipher different codes and morph them into something new. When something went amiss with the computer I would know what procedure to use in order to fix the computer. I loved the feeling of taking something broken and making it full of potential again. However, I knew I wanted to do something more than working with technology. I also had an interest in the medical field. I loved visiting the doctor. I was fascinated how the doctors and nurses could use their problem solving skills as well as their compassion to change someone’s life. I wanted to make a difference in people’s
The career that I have chosen is to become a diagnostic medical sonographer. Diagnostic Medical Sonographer’s use imaging equipment that directs waves into a patient’s body and sends echoes to an ultrasound machine which create an image. They help gather sonographic data to diagnose medical conditions and diseases as well as monitor fetal development. Sonographers must be able to perform appropriate procedures and provide anatomical, pathological, and psychological information. Sonographers must be able to provide information about the ultrasounds to the patients and be able to promote good health.
One of the main reasons for choosing a healthcare career in todays society, aside from the basic need for a self sustaining income, is the opportunity to make differences in peoples lives. With the demand for healthcare professionals and alternative medicines on the rise, so is the need for adequately educated trained personnel. Diagnostic Medical Sonography is becoming an increasingly attractive alternative to radiologic procedures such as x-ray and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Accounting for approximately 50,300 jobs in the United States in 2008, compared to the 214,000 jobs held by radiologic technicians, according to
The reason I would do Diagnostic Medical Sonographer would be on account of this is what Iv'e wanted to do throughout recent years. I have an enthusiasm for finding out about how to peruse X-Ray's and helping people, as well as specialists figure out where certain infections are. I feel that I can help a lot of individuals by doing this vocation. Cardiovascular Technologist/Technician was an enthusiasm of mines years back. I enjoyed this profession decision since you get the chance to work hands on with patients for a broadened time frame, screen their pulse and also teach them on specific disorders and let them realize what's in store in the day's to come. No other profession on this list truly crested my advantage since I'm enthusiastic about connections. I want to assemble associations with individuals since I trust that great connections bring the best out of us as individuals. I don't imagine that any of these other vocation decisions would permit me to make associations with individuals and have such a positive effect on them such as the two profession decisions that I
Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a career that falls within the medical and health field. Diagnostic medical sonographers utilize machinery known as sonographic scanners. These scanners create images of the patient's internal organs. There are a few other names that this specific career may be referred to as, which are Ultrasound Tech and/or Medical Imaging. Although though there are advancement possibilities, there are pros and cons about the career. The work environment may be difficult, and differential diagnosis is found within sonography. There is a lot of time and dedication needed as well as important information to know and understand about the career before deciding whether or not this is the chosen path that will be taken. I have decided that DMS is the career I want to be successful in because I have always had the interest of becoming a prenatal sonographer. I love working with people and I also wouldn’t mind being the person that could potentially save someone else’s life by
The career path that I am choosing to follow is Diagnostic Medical Sonography. This career involves the use of frequency waves to view tissues; organs and blood flow inside of the body. My main career goals involve getting into the program, then getting a solid career in this profession. From there I plan on growing and getting even more education if it is offered, as well as branching out into other fields of Songraphy.
However, I graduated from the program with discipline, hard work and self-determination, as I saw it a stepping stone to my educational aspiration in obtaining an education and a career in the field of Radiologic Technology. My interest in this program started when I was a teenager living abroad in the Dominican Republic and I had to get a CT-Scan for an injury. Despite being in discomfort and pain at the time, I remembered asking the technician a lot of questions about the equipment and how it worked and what the images of the scan explained about my injury. The field of radiology technology interacts with all areas of medicine and it not only offers specialization but it offers new challenges and offers numerous learning opportunities to further my knowledge. From that interaction with the radiographer, is when I began to pursue my interest
Radiology technicians play an important role in society and have the ability to make a positive impact on people’s lives. They have the ability to make a difference in a patient’s live by employing their communication and patient care skills. Working as a radiology technician would allow me to fulfill my passion for helping others and making an impact while working in a career that I know I would love. I have been fortunate enough to work alongside many radiology technicians for over 4 years and have come to realize the vital role they play in Healthcare. The fast-paced work environment and major responsibility is something that I am intrigued by. I find radiologic imaging such a fascinating technology and am extremely passionate to make a career out of it.
So many that it can be hard to choose one specific profession. But ultrasound stands out from the rest. When I say to someone that I am going into the healthcare field they assume I want to be a nurse or pre-med. So it’s always great to see how shocked they are when I say Ultrasound. It is just not the normal response and it motivates me to be a part of something that isn’t as well known and make it well known. Also I want to be able help someone find a diagnosis. I want to be the key to helping give people answers. It also lets me be independent and make my own judgements. I will get to use my creativity and see something new everyday. Most importantly I’ll get to interact with my patients and work one on one with them giving them personal care. There are so many different options and sub-specialites that go with ultrasound that I would be able to continue to learn and expand my knowledge. One of the greatest things about Ultrasound is I would be able to obtain employment anywhere in the world. I would love to travel and see knew places and culture and ultrasound is a profession that will allow me to do that. Ultrasound will challenge me daily and help me improve myself so I can improve the care I give to others. Science/technology is know as being the mystery of life and for me to be able to use it daily to help people is amazing. Ultrasound comes with many good qualities, but there are always bad qualities. Accepting that
I am pursuing a career as a radiologist technician due to a number of reasons. It first started with my fascination of the complexity of the human body. In high school I had no idea I wanted to go into the medical field until I took an anatomy and physiology class, and this subject fascinated me. Solving problems and seeing results is something I want out of a career. I am looking forward to the life-long learning that is involved with a job in the healthcare field. As such, I am interested in a specialization in radiology so I can continue my education and provide a higher level of care to ill patients. Caring for the well being of others has always been one of my priorities and working in radiography would create opportunities for me to provide
Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a career that I just learned about this year. I never expected to do anything in the medical field but the more I research about this career, the more it interests me. I love helping people and another career path I have looked at is something in pediatrics. With sonography, I would be able to look at the fetus and make sure everything is fine with the pregnancy. There would be many aspects of this job that I think I would enjoy.
My interest in x-rays and ultrasounds led me to pursue a career in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Deciding to be a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer was not an easy or fast decision. Like everything else in life, my decision was gradual and time-consuming. However, being involved in the medical field was always something that I longed to do. Most other kids want to be a firefighter, police man, or President of the United States. For me I always knew that my heart belonged in the hospital.
I have learned a lot when it comes to patient care, radiation protection, safety precautions of radiation, anatomy of the body, how to position patients for certain exams and soon to be much more. I am glad I chose this profession to go into because without radiologic technologists we would not be where we are today with diagnosing tumors, cancer, diseases, surgery and low infection rates in surgery as well and much more. Radiologic Technologists are very important no matter what people may think. Many think it is as simple as pushing a button but there is way more to this job than that, that nobody knows about or understands. We are just as important as a nurse, doctor, surgeon, and anyone else in the healthcare profession. I am glad I get to be the one behind the scenes helping people figure out what is going on inside of their body. I cannot wait to graduate in 2017 and become a registered radiologic
Radiology is a career path that can lead to many places other than diagnostic imaging. Once I finish the program for Radiology, I have many aspirations for the future. I intend on completing my bachelors in science and enrolling in courses for CT and MRI certification. My overall goal is to go into Radiation Therapy or Nuclear Medicine in the next five years.
