Education Anywhere Starting in pre-school, children begin their journey of education. From learning how to share and color within the lines to not drinking at parties and mastering calculus, our education shapes us into who we are and provides us with what we need to know. Education extends far beyond just a school building, and the process of learning and building education is everywhere. We learn in the classroom but also on sports fields, stages, and in the real world. I have learned countless lessons about behavior and character through extracurricular activities, especially sports. Some people believe that education only occurs in a classroom environment, but I think that learning opportunities surround us far and wide. In my life, I have also received valuable information in school. Starting in pre-school, I learned to share my favorite coloring book and how to sing my ABC’s. As I continued on through the different grade levels, I began to learn math, science, history, and English. Throughout my journey, I have found that my knowledge helps me make good grades, but it also helps me in knowing why certain things happen. For example, history has given me context in why certain disputes occurred and why others still continue on between certain groups of people, and science gives me a reason and explanation for almost everything on Earth. All in all, education definitely occurs in school and in that environment students are supplied with necessary knowledge.

My educational history is very diverse. I went to Catholic school from kindergarten to sixth grade, then went to public school from seventh to twelfth grade. The transition from Catholic school to public school was very complicated but at the same time it was effortless. I did not have to wear a uniform, go to church, or learn religion anymore.
When I was younger, I had a fear on competing in front of judges and my parents. My stomach would get butterflies and I would start to second guess myself. In 2012, I somehow made it all the way to regionals for gymnastics. Fast forward to the meet. I had one more event left and was having the best meet of my life. Right before I jumped onto the beam, I took a deep breath and told myself that I can do this. The routine went incredible and my coaches picked me up and spun me around. My parents were crying and I was so confused why. My name then got announced for placing fifth in the region and advancing to nationals representing the United States. From that day forward, I always remember to tell myself that I can anything I set my mind to. It has helped me become a better student and person. Throughout my personal journey in education, I have learned that being involved with something you love to do helps gain confidence in yourself, find your true passion in life and help develop good habits.
Ripley interviewed a former football player at Premont High School who stated after eliminating sports, “There was all this extra time, you never got behind on your work (11).” The interview goes onto to say that the teacher parent conferences received 160 participants, rather than 6 the year before (Ripley 11). The information above indicates that these once sports - minded children could now explore more educational and intellective paths. As expressed, children, without after school games, can focus directly on their scholastic
The things that I read about weren’t very new to me and I wasn’t surprised by much of what I read. Despite the fact that I don’t have many questions regarding this reading I recognize the importance of asking questions. In class you instructed us to “ Ask questions and begin to find different answers in order to improve our learning experience.” The only thing that truly shocked me was in Something Torn and New and the author stated that lynched men were often castrated. My question to that would be why is something like that not a well known fact? Also, what was the purpose of this? I also would like to know why a lot of our history is not taught in elementary, middle, and high school? Why must a black person wait until they reach college to be taught about the ancestors in a school setting? I don’t think that's fair, because in school white people are heavily taught about their ancestors. I wish I was taught more than the bare minimum about my ancestors.
Hope you are doing well. I am not sure if you remember me, but I remember you vividly from three special education classes I was in between 2002 and 2004 and often think about you. You also invited me to your retirement party that was very special to me. As I was reflecting on my life for the past 18 years in the U.S. I was thinking about you and a few other people in my life that have influenced me positively in so many different ways.
Education is a system that exist in today society. Education was invented long ago till now there still remain a mystery of it origin, and without education their will be no society today and people will be stuck at the stone edge. The role of education is to feed people with knowledge and to do that as stated by Herbert Spencer that society as a human body this to can be relate to it. Just like a human body education also need its part and without it their will be a problem. And those part are a school so their will be a place for education to take place just like in the movie good will hunting the protagonist work inside the school where an education take place inside, other than that it also need someone to distribute the knowledge and that someone is the teacher or lecturer just like in the movie where there is are teacher that teach the classroom and distribute knowledge to people other than that it also need a receiver or other know as the students like in the movie inside the school there a whole bunch of student in the classroom that receive the
Good to meet you! That is exactly the reason why I decided to give it my all at SNHU and finish my four-year education. The trade-off was just too important to put it off with any more excuses. I was a legal secretary for many, many years and in the last 5-10 year (more or less) I have noticed that employers will not even look at my resume if I cannot prove that I have a four-year education. It is really great to see you made that same decision.
I believe in education. Education has always been an important part of my life and has continued to help me advance in school and will later help me succeed in life. Although many people don’t see the value in education, I am a firm believer that education can take you places if you put your mind to it. For example, my mom was laid off from Zippo after 18 years of service and decided to go to college for a new beginning. After two years of college, my mom was able to complete her associate’s degree and get a job back at Zippo in the accounting field. If my mom can juggle college as well as being a full time mom, anyone should be able to succeed in college. Education is the building blocks of life.
Education can present itself in everyday life experiences, for instance, what a child learns from parents or siblings growing up, or the decisions made as a grown up. As humans, our knowledge does not entirely come from what we learn in school, because there is only so much that we can be taught through the education system. Learning has to do with expanding our minds and stepping out of our bubbles because sometimes what we learn in the streets better prepares us to adapt to our everyday lives.
“ Although the road is never ending, take a step and keep walking, do not look fearfully into distance...On this path let the heart be your guide for the body is hesitant and full of fear.” At first, these poetic words by Rumi had little significance to me as I started my journey in healthcare. As I progressed through my journey into medical school I realized how well it defines my journey and its hurdles as one progresses through medical school. I have always been drawn to art of medicine. As long as I remember while just being a high school student, having just moved from another country and starting my education in USA, I was under the excellent guidance of talented biology teacher. Her interest into my studies and motivation made it possible for me to endure into a journey that was both fruitful and difficult at the same time. Working with her early on in my early career towards health sciences I knew that this is the journey I was going to take. Only when I am now at the end I can fully understand what Rumi said in his quote and how much it relates to me. My early interactions with healthcare blossomed into passion that I continued on towards completing my journey of medicine. This journey had its ups and down and not till my clinical years that I completely understood my scarifies and why that I took upon such a task. In my clinical years the interaction I had with patients made me realize this is what I would do if I were to start over and over again on the same
Another purpose of education that I am going to mention is the learning of basic skills. When I was younger, I was in a class where they taught you how to write a check, sew, and cook. It was a tedious class at the time, but it taught me valuable skills that I now use. Another class that is similar is Health; what you learn in that class is almost a necessity. They teach you about how to take care of your body, what foods you should eat to stay healthy, and why you should exercise. There is a book by Robert Fulghum called All I Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. In this book, Fulghum talks about how everything that you need to know in life you learn as a child, such as: play fair, don’t take things that aren’t yours, say you’re sorry, and the list goes on. What you learn in school is a valuable asset to life “and it is still true no matter how old you are” (Fulghum).
In the United States today there is a heavy emphasis placed on sports and sporting activities. Every public school, middle and up, offers some sporting program, and most private schools do as well. The real issue at question is whether sports are affecting the education of students and young adults, who may have carried their sporting career into college. In general, people of all ages spend a lot of time both in person and on TV watching sports, not to mention those who are actively participating in the sporting event. With sports taking up most of a student 's free time, some pose the concern that sports are taking too much time, and the students are unable to focus on their education. One may even make the argument that the United States culture as a whole focuses more on the success in sporting activities than they do the quality and level of academics that student athletes uphold. However this is untrue, it "hardly ever comes up in domestic debates about America 's international mediocrity in education” (Bowen and Hitt). With that being said, it is safe to say that sports have considerably more benefits than they do drawbacks. Sports are an excellent way to help to teach students of all levels many different valuable skills that can translate over into their chosen work field, or just life in general. Although the United States ranks lower than others academically, sports help students of all ages with both leadership and teamwork skills, as well as being an exemplary
When I was a kid, school for me was waking up early in the morning. I also have to study a lot in school, then after school I have to do homework. I remember my first day at school. My mom and dad, both were so happy and prepared but I was so nervous and cheerless. I didn’t like to wake up early in the morning for school , but as time flew by I started loving school which made me wake up with energy instead of tiredness. I began to enjoy the school as I made new friends and I got to know how it is like when you meet people out of your neighborhood. With my friends I had lunch together and study together. I started to understand what the purpose of the education system. Based on what I understood I think the purpose of education is really aimed at helping students get to the point where they can learn to be on their own. In this journey of education I had a lot of positive and few negative experiences, but the negative experiences also helped me growing. Positive experiences are my teachers helping me improve, and I improved more when I moved to the United States.
This story has to begin in my middle school years. At this age, I was already being tested annually amongst my peers. My parents had already received grades from the prior year letting them know that I was excelling in math and science. This year was different, this year they kept emphasizing on how it counts. And how it did. The grade I had received on these standardized tests statewide were enough to push me to the next level.
Education is a journey through the universe. The universe is enormous and seems to have no end. If a person wants to be truly educated, he or she must spend years in school studying both important and trivial information. The material in the solar system represents the years a student spends in school. The remaining space in the universe is the endless learning one does outside of the classroom.
