Floodlights sliced through the darkness and the beams of light burst into the moonless night while stars sparkle like diamonds. i feel the gust of wind blowing my hair and the crisp, earthy aroma of fall fill my senses. Here i am standing on the sideline listening to the sound of my pom poms moving in the wind. i am not physically alone but mentally there is no one in sight. Sometimes while i am on the field i put myself in a place to think as if there is no one around. Certain thoughts and questions come up in my mind such as, What will i be when i am older? What career am i going to pursue? Will this one of the few last moments i will have of high school? Truth be told i have no idea what the future holds for me.
High school cheer was more than something to put on applications. it was the best experience of my high school life. Not only did i get to make new friendships but i also created everlasting memories. Pep rallies, decorating, and spreading spirit are all things that were so much fun and with being a cheerleader came the responsibility to do these things. i also learned about my passion for cheerleading and football games. i never knew what the big deal was about Saturday night football. The experience was amazing. i loved pumping up the crowds and cheering for the football players whenever they made a good play or won a game. Cheerleading made me come out of my comfort zone. i became more confident in myself and was not afraid to be loud.
As i approach my senior
I used to be a cheerleader. When I think of cheerleading I think of it as leading the students and players to win and try harder. Being a leader means to take responsibilities and lead the crowed in a positive way. When I was a cheerleader it meant so much to me to lead the crowd and other future cheerleaders and kids that look up to all of the current cheerleaders.
Becoming a cheerleader at such a young age, being on the cheer mat became a happy place for me. I spent thirteen out of my eighteen years of my life cheerleading and it is definitely something that means a lot to me. Being on the cheer mat whether at practice or at competition has taught me many life lessons that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Having such caring and dedicated coaches made my experience so special and unique. My passion for cheerleading shows tremendously as soon as I step on the mat, and learning many life lessons from cheer has shaped me into the person I am today.
Every since a little girl, cheerleading has been one of the biggest aspects in my life. It has caused me to make hard decisions but it has also taught me to be myself. I have made some of the most reliable friends due to this sport. In cheerleading, we learn how to depend upon each other, support one another, and always be there in a time of need. Although I have only been in the PHS cheerleading program for one year, I am very proud to say I was part of such a strong one that stands out from all other programs that surround our district.
High school cheerleading is where all the fun begins, it includes pep rallies, Friday night games, summer camp, homecoming, and so many other fun activities to look forward to. With the hard work everyone has put in, this season will be one of the best. All throughout summer the MHS cheer squads have put nonstop work into perfecting everything from stunts to halftime routines.
Cheerleading is a time to represent your school spirit and pride. Ever since grade school I was a cheerleader. I continued to cheer in middle school and up to junior year in High School, for a total of six years. I started off with pop warner cheer then junior varsity cheer and ended with varsity cheer in high school. When you cheer you get to get the crowd involved in the game, you make new friends and you also get to compete in competitive cheer at competitions. Cheerleading was a great part of my life and it is an experience I will always treasure. It has taught me that practice builds stamina, competition proves your teams point and it builds the understanding of why teamwork is important.
Getting the phone call that I had just been selected, as the cheer captain of my freshmen cheerleading team was probably one of my favorite high school memories. Cheerleading was something I actively participated in since I was in diapers. I guess you could say I loved being a cheerleader.
Although there are many hardships and criticisms that come with breaking out of the social norm there are far more benefits than pitfalls. The males that do decide to be cheerleaders cannot imagine their lives without the rewards and satisfaction that follow the completion of a routine. They also gain back self-esteem and dignity due to their ability to withstand the harsh remarks and criticisms. "Any man can hold a cheerleader's hand but only the elite can hold her feet." Once friends of cheerleaders get over
My passion for cheerleading continued to grow, and as I got older I did everything I could to prepare myself to be a high school cheerleader. My mom took me to Des Moines multiple times to watch the state cheer competition and watching this made me even more pumped to be a cheerleader. I enrolled in tumbling classes at the fitness center and in Decorah at the Dolphins gymnastics gym. Every cheer camp that came along I participated in. I could not wait until I was in junior high so that I could be on an actual cheerleading team.
It’s made me a leader, I was captain of JV my junior year and I tried my best to not only encourage me but my team mates to be the best they could be at not only cheer but at anything they were trying to do. My life did not revolve around cheerleading but it took up any free time that I did have, I learned to prioritize and not procrastinate school work, projects and tests because I always had something to do. Whether it was a cheerleading competition traveling with my team to new places allowing me to meet all new people, community service activities such a community cleanup day or car washes to raise money. I also would participate in pep rallies and volunteering to coach boys Powder Puff which is where the boys dress up as cheerleaders and the girls play football. But I can’t forget the endless football games such as the pink game we raised money with shirts for breast cancer, all great opportunities and experiences that have affected me in a positive way. One thing that I will always cherish form cheerleading is the best friends I’ve made thought out the years and the relationships with my coaches that have always taught me to do
When looking back on all the things that cheer has taught me over the years, I really start to understand why cheerleading is so important. Cheer helped me gain skills that I have been able to repurpose into other activities and those skills will help me in the future as well. These skills are essential to life, and without them, I would not be as successful as I am today. A big part of cheer is the social aspect because you have to be able to communicate between teammates and crowds at various sporting events. Having this skill has been a big part of my academic and work life.

Twelve years ago my mother enrolled me into cheerleading. Cheerleading has truly impacted my life, every day for 3 hours we have practice leading up to major competitions. We are given extra responsibilities, go through training to stay fit, meeting academic grade requirements to participate, show up for games and practices and take the sport seriously. I uphold a enormous amount of credit to my coaches over the past years, they never give up on their team no matter what the cost is. You have to have true compassion and respect for you and your team to be a cheerleader, its a team there is no i in team. I continue to work hard at all i do to keep a good reputation, keep my high morals, and standards at all times, be prideful in my work ethic,
Lots of people say that cheer is not an sport and they don't need cheerleaders but we don't need football or basketball ether. Cheerleaders do not have to have a uniform, they can be other people in your life. You see if you were a doctor you will help people healthy. If you were a nurse you will give people shots. If you were an astronaut you will help decover thing. These people are all cheerleaders like, Samuel L Jackson, Albert Einstein, Walt Disney, Dr. Seuss are all cheerleader. Cheer is all about the positive side. Cheerleaders job is to inspire, support and electrify. Any fool can feel good when you’re winning but when you're down 75 points in the 4th quarter that’s when you ask you’re self you are you going to call.
I have found plenty of evidence to claim as an argument of why cheerleading is a great source of exercise and how this sport can advance your body as well as to keep you healthy and in shape. The takeaway message from this research would be to take any type of activity sport to the maximum level of seriousness, because you can get hurt in anything you do, whether it be workouts, physical activity or even a slight jog. Great athletes frame the activity/sport of cheerleading seem simple, but performing the sport correctly demands physical power that constructs muscles not just in one part of the body, but the whole body. Definite locations on the cheerleading team including backspot and bases, must be adequate to raise and brace the lower part of the stunt or leveled stunts. Conducting these intense stunts requires unbelievable power, focus, and stability to undergo the mass of the other partners to guarantee their protection. Cheerleaders have to show leadership not just on the mat but off of the mat as well. Cheerleaders offer guidance to assist teammates to upgrade their abilities, bring a favorable attitude each and every time to their lifestyle, and be willing to try new obstacles and over all becoming better people for
In high school I was involved in a lot of community service. I participated in a group that was focused mainly on preserving the environment. Every year, our school celebrates Earth Day, which is a huge event that is held every year in April to celebrate the earth and the environment. Our group was actually the head of the celebration. Hensler’s Nursery donates hundreds of baby trees to our school every year. We go and dig up the trees, get them ready to be handed out and then hand them out, every year. We also put on a program at the elementary school every year teaching students about the environment and why it is important to protect the environment. We always passed out either baby pine trees or plum trees. We teach the kids how to
