Being a leader is a valuable skill, not just for the National Honor Society, but also for life. Leaders must take initiative and make hard decisions, even when it is difficult. I am one of the leaders of a praise team group for my
Leadership is being able to guide other students into being the best they can be. I am a leader who is always positive and cheering others on to achieve their goals. At my school, I have a position as the Vice President of Academics in National Honors Society. Since I have obtained this position, I encourage other students in this group to participate in service projects which is where one volunteers to help out the community in some aspect. These volunteering opportunities are good thing to do because it builds character and it is always fun helping others out. As a leader, I bring new ideas to the table on where we should help out in the community and anything that we could do in school that would fun and helpful. Along with participating in National Honors Society at my school, I am also involved in our Student Government Association. Although I do not have a leadership position in this club, I still engage in the activities that we do. For the past two years, I have gone to an annual meeting for leadership where multiple schools attend. At this meeting there are fun activities where you learn more about leadership and how to be a good leader. As a leader, these meetings help because it is always good to learn new
As a leader, I try to inspire and have an influence on people. I see leadership as a responsibility to be a good role model for others. Therefore, from the people I have interacted with, I make sure no one is afraid to say or give an opinion on something and I’m there to listen. For example, in National Honor Society we learn the principles which are scholarship, service, character and most importantly, leadership. As the Vice President of National Honor Society, I have hope for success in each member. This year the president and I have teamed up to create new opportunities for all of the members of National Honor Society to contribute to our community. Not only do they lend a hand, but they are also willing to come up with new ideas to help,
Leadership is an important character trait of National Honor Society. Last summer I had the opportunity to lead a team during the off season. At the end of the regular season, there were no captains elected. Captains are in charge of organizing events and practices when the coaches are not allowed to communicate with the team. I took on the responsibility of organizing activities. I communicated with other players and got their input for the activities. I had to reach out to incoming freshman by organizing a group message as well as emailing parents. I also made sure to keep our coach updated on how everything was going.
Throughout my high school years, I have had the opportunity to demonstrate my leadership skills through different organizations and events. I have participated in events such as History Fair, and have been part of the organization of National Honor Society through three years of high school. I was the leader of my History Fair project group when preparing for competition. The organization of National Honor Society has helped me demonstrate my leadership skills through volunteer work meant to help and improve society helping me gain experience as a leader.
In class we defined leadership as using relationships to influence others. Before I came to the Academy I believed that a person could only lead their peers or subordinates. I did not believe that a subordinate could lead their superior. In high school I had many opportunities to develop my leadership with peers and subordinates. I was an officer of National Honor Society, and using that influence and my prior knowledge of NHS activities from the year before I was able to practice my leadership with my peers. I learned how to communicate in a manner to convince them to take action quickly, but not in a way that would seem overbearing or condescending. Furthermore, I was able to be a small group leader for a number of middle school retreats at my parish. In working with sixth grade boys I learned how to deal with insubordination and chaos, and with both of these groups of people I began to understand what was needed in a relationship between a leader and a follower. Our relationship had to be characterized by sincerity and respect. In both of these activities, those that I was leading could have easily stepped back and not paid attention to anything I was asking them to do. I had to convince them that I was absolutely dedicated to what I was trying to do, and that I had their best interest in mind. When leading middle school retreats I had to be a role model and show I valued my relationship with
Firstly, in my Academic Career, I have held a multitude of leadership roles. My sophomore year , I was a class representative for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, commonly known as FCCLA. It was my duty to alert members and keep them up to date regarding meetings and
Responsibility, leadership and commitment are often associated with the term “society.” Being a member of a club requires responsibility, leadership and commitment. However, society often secludes the fact that people who leave their mark on this world, also have imagination. The National Junior Honor Society should consider me for their program
Leadership is very important to our society and to myself. It gives us guidance on what to do and if the things we are doing are appropriate. Leadership is not only something everyone could use, but also needs. I believe I can demonstrate directionism while being involved in the National Junior Honor Society.
"The final test of a leader is that he leaves behind himself in other men the conviction and the will to carry on.” – Walter Lippmann
The National Honor Society is an organization that provides students with characteristics to strive for. The four columns of this organization, such as scholarship, service, leadership, and character, are all qualities that help further develop the student as a person. Not only is a student pushed to excel in the classroom, they are also expected to contribute and give back to their community. These requirements all contribute to the student discovering who they are as a person and sets them on the pass to success. Of course, with financial aid, leadership development, and a constructive society, students will become the leaders of the modern world.
Going into my final year of high school, I had been elected as the Vice President of the National Honour Society for Murphy High School’s charter. With this new position, I had to contribute ideas on how to raise money for our club and school, how to improve the students involved, and how the club could better the school. The election was based on nominations and popular vote. I was elected because I was outspoken and provided ideas as much as I could in meetings. This allowed for my fellow peers to understand that I cared for the honor society and wanted to better the program.
I have exhibited leadership by being an example for my little sister. I often help her with with her homework assignments and try to guide her to have a successful academic career. Often times I will have conversations with her about different aspects of math and science, since she shares those interests with me. For example one time in her math 1 class her teacher briefly mentioned imaginary numbers. We explored the topic together, going back to when
Professional Growth and Future Goals I am a born leader. Even when I am not looking for leadership opportunities they always seem to fall into my lap. My life has been one that is based on service to others, so I regularly volunteer for committees and extend myself to help others. It is important to me to be the best teacher I can, I regularly attend professional development sessions and implement my new learning in the classroom. However, upon starting the Teacher Leadership Master’s program at Lamar University, I was just beginning my career as a teacher leader. I had not had many opportunities to show leadership outside of my grade-level team. During team planning meetings, I normally directed the discussions. My coworkers looked to me for guidance and interpretation of the curriculum. I regularly made suggestions about teaching strategies. Additionally, I was a member of various campus committees including the Campus Performance Objective Committee (CPOC) where worked together with campus administrators and community partners to develop the Campus Improvement Plan. However, I did not view these tasks as leadership opportunities.
Leadership Adam Tobias Davenport University- Student Leadership Leadership is summarized as ‘the process in which an individual impacts a variety of individuals to attain a common goal’. The goal is attained by mutual collaboration and cohesive behavior. A leader infuses a sense of positivity and manages others to reach a specified goal. Leadership has
