Leadership is defined as the action of leading a group of people or an organization. To me, Leadership is so much more. Leadership is a way to shape the future and improve your community. I grew up worshiping to my father’s soccer players, leaders like Trisha Krewson and Katie Burr. These girls taught me at a young age how to lead and strive to improve the world around you. To me, one of the best ways to improve your community is through helping shape the leaders of the future. These women worked with me and showed me the value of education, athletics, pirate pride, community service, and leadership. Through opportunities like helping with bitty cheer clinic, soccer camp, and student dance teaching I have lead young girls and helped mold them into young leaders. The best part of this is seeing girls that you taught at younger age taking the initiative to help lead the generations younger than them. I was inspired by older girls to become a leader in my school and community and I hope that my leadership has …show more content…
I am a member of leadership organizations like Aim for Excellence and Pirates for Peers. Through Pirates and Peers, I have gained the mentoring role of big sister to a girl at Meadowlawn through Big Brother Big Sisters. Through Aim for Excellence, I have helped improve our community and helped others. I have gained leadership experience through playing Varsity sports such as soccer, cheerleading, and track along with dancing competitively. Through this, I have learned how to take charge but also listen to teammates concerns and feelings. I also have the privilege of being a member of National Honor Society. One of the pillars of NHS is Leadership and we accomplish this through community outreach and helping students through programs like tutoring. I also have helped lead younger pirates through soccer camp, bitty cheer clinic, and dance student
Leadership is being able to guide other students into being the best they can be. I am a leader who is always positive and cheering others on to achieve their goals. At my school, I have a position as the Vice President of Academics in National Honors Society. Since I have obtained this position, I encourage other students in this group to participate in service projects which is where one volunteers to help out the community in some aspect. These volunteering opportunities are good thing to do because it builds character and it is always fun helping others out. As a leader, I bring new ideas to the table on where we should help out in the community and anything that we could do in school that would fun and helpful. Along with participating in National Honors Society at my school, I am also involved in our Student Government Association. Although I do not have a leadership position in this club, I still engage in the activities that we do. For the past two years, I have gone to an annual meeting for leadership where multiple schools attend. At this meeting there are fun activities where you learn more about leadership and how to be a good leader. As a leader, these meetings help because it is always good to learn new
Being a leader involves more than simply holding a title; it also entails setting an example for others, creating positive changes, and inspiring people to follow you. Whether it is organizing events, leading teams on projects, volunteering, or being a supportive team member, I am naturally adept at leadership. For instance, I am currently
Leadership has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have always found myself taking on leadership roles, whether it be by volunteering or coordinating different projects for the benefit of my school or community. Taking on leadership positions has allowed me to develop skills in communication, delegation, and managing multiple tasks and deadlines. As a member of National Honor Society and an officer of Student Council, I am presented with various opportunities to show my leadership skills. For example, I have been in charge of planning multiple pep assemblies for my school. Helping coordinate blood and canned food drives, angel trees, as well as organize an abundance of fundraising events has created a sense of reliability
A big passion of mine is playing sports. I have been participating in sports for my entire life. A characteristic that I have shown through my years of sports is leadership. I have been named captain of my basketball team because my coach believes my leadership is great motivation for my teammates. Throughout my years of basketball, my leadership quality has greatly impacted our success.
Leadership on many occasions has been misinterpreted by many individuals. Many assume that leadership is an easy skill people can develop, however, it isn't. Leadership comes with significant responsibilities such as establishing an influence, guidance, or encouragement on others. While there are some people who seek leadership with the purpose to obtain the power and abusing it for self-interest. I can proudly identify myself as a person who has been titled a leader because I have portrayed an influence. Around my last two years of high school, I became a youth leader at church. Being a youth leader was not only a major learning experience for those who I supported but also for myself. For instance, I had to go through a discipleship class
Many define leadership as the action of leading a group of people, but to me leadership
There are several characteristics a person in a leadership role should portray. My philosophy of leadership encompasses characteristics such as compassion, collaboration, innovation, perseverance, and competence. I believe to be a competent leader one must be authentic to one’s self and beliefs. One must know where he or she stands concerning ethics and innovations surrounding the education field. A leader must convey understanding, be on the forefront of research, advocate for colleagues and students, and collaborate with other professionals.
I have been put in a leadership role many times. Going on mission trips, and having part time jobs throughout high school have put me in places where I have had to be a leader. I have worked children's camp through my church for over five years. This
Since I was in elementary school, my parents and teachers have encouraged us to be leaders in every activity. When I prepared for to application of universities, my advisors told me I should emphasize my quality of leadership to attract admissions officers. Is leadership so important for all people to be successful? What will happen if everyone desires to be a leader?
A leader by its meaning is one who goes first and led by example, so that others are motivated to follow. To be a leader, a person must have a deep rooted commitment to the goal that they will strive to achieve even when nobody follows! This definition is not even half the meaning for a leader especially for my leader this meaning does her no justice. My leader is an award winning writer and communications professional who leverages extensive media experience with a solid writing/producer background to develop and execute content that increase engagement and heightens awareness. She is a highly effective story teller with proven track records in launching creative initiatives that appeal to large audience and are completed within tight deadlines
Leadership is many things. It is humble, playing to your strengths and knowing your weaknesses, giving people the tools they need to succeed, and influencing others to achieve a common goal. My personal favorite is: being a coach with a passion for developing your players.
Over the years as a student body, as individuals and as young adults we have been presented with the question, ‘what is a leader?’ personally, I find the answer constantly changing. In respect to the continual growth of my understanding of people, the world and myself; what defines a leader to me evolves based on the experiences and individuals I encounter. An enormous contributor to my concept of leadership has been the St Hilda’s environment and our our motto of Non Nobis Solemn. It seems that no matter how the definition may expand and evolve, there are certain qualities and beliefs which are recurrent and remain at the foundation. It is my understanding that I can bring forth a number of these idiosyncrasies as an individual and possibly,
The Oxford American dictionary defines leadership as the act of leading a group of people. To me, that’s a bit understated. In my opinion, leadership, and the act of being a leader, is much more than that. Leadership is having the responsibility to stand in front of a group of people and be able to inspire and influence them to work toward a common goal. Leadership is having the trust of the people you are representing to help the team make positive changes and positive steps forward towards that goal. Leadership is an act of selflessness to do what’s right for the group as a whole, and not just yourself. A leader is ethical, assertive, progressive, and inclusive. Leadership is taking responsibility for the actions of your team, and it’s up
Being a true leader is not performing a grand act once, in order to be a leader you must show leadership qualities daily. No act is too small. I enjoy helping others, mainly children because they are the ones who are most defenseless. Every week I volunteer at my local church and teach a special education Confraternity of Christian Doctrine class working directly with an autistic boy. I also volunteer at the community library and tutor young children. At school, I am treasurer of Art National Honor Society and French National Honor Society. I am the head photographer for the yearbook club, Art Club secretary, and debate coordinator for Junior Statesman of America. I am a proud member of the National Honor Society. I also am the Spirit Captain
The most influential leadership experience that I participated in was being on the Riverbend Retreat Camp Program Team. The Program Team was established to promote team spirit for kids at camp by leading music, team games, and team cheers. The Program Team’s goal was to inspire kids to pour their hearts into everything that they did. For the first couple of days, I lived and breathed team spirit. I was a green team leader; therefore, I was dressed in all green clothes, covered in green face paint, and I even wore a green tutu the size of a barrel. I shouted team chants whenever I had the chance, I slapped high-fives to the kids on my team, and I led
