Accomplish the mission by cultivating competence is my leadership philosophy. Competence is “the ability to do something successfully or efficiently” . It refers to the asset of knowledges and skills required to perform a given activities. My career field requires skills and adherence to technical instructions in every technical task. To achieve this, in my daily management I prioritize the discipline, the exemplary, and the courage. These values have marked my view of leadership throughout my career, by professional and social experiences, observations and our cultural realities.
Competence is demonstrated in action, in an individual 's ability to mobilize acquired knowledge and the resources of the environment (documents, tools) in a

What, Why and When, How, Where and Who are the path to achieve that. One is master of his work, when he knows what needs to be done, why to do it, how to do it, when, where and who should do it. The leader must always aim to learn more about his military career than his subordinates, since effectiveness contributes to create a trustful relation with the subordinates.
To sum up the notion of competence I can borrow the “third dimension of meta-leadership: connectivity.” In which, “there is four distinct facets of meta-leadership connectivity defined by organizational relationships and dynamics: leading down to one’s formal subordinates; leading up to the people to whom one is accountable; leading across to other intra-organizational entities; leading beyond to inter-organizational entities”
My first and most important leadership concept is the exemplary. Example is the most powerful tool to bring subordinates to follow the path traced by the leader. This principle build the subordinates credibility and legitimacy.
To inspire subordinates to follow my example, my daily behaviors have to be in accordance with my principles and the institution ethics. I keep in mind that the subordinates are particularly watching everything I say and do. It is essential to depict the great principles in the small elements of everyday life.
Beyond the gestures of daily life, setting an example also implies ability to get involved. This means showing your
The third key section of leadership is in endeavor. A principal of praise and sharing the brunt of responsibilities from mistakes with followers has been discuss several times in other books as well as my current Ethical Leadership Class. Phillips (pg. 103) points out this principal with, “When a subordinate did a good job, Lincoln praised, complimented, and rewarded the individual. On the other hand, he shouldered responsibility when mistakes were made.” This aspect of praising and shouldering responsibility causes followers to take risks and to be innovating in their approach to the corporate mission and vision. This inspires people around the leader to learn and grow and maybe have the confidence to be a change agent not just a yes person.
“Competency models describe the behaviors and skills managers need to exhibit if an organization is to be successful” (Hughes, Ginnett, & Curphy, p. 252). In many organizations, competency models can differ between the different hierarchies of managers. As a person’s leadership role evolves so do the behaviors and skills he or she must possess to be an effective leader. This statement holds firm as with the case of Andra Rush.
An antecedent is here understood as a precondition for a leader’s individual competency development. One of the purposes of this study is to find out to what extent a particular antecedent is actually associated with a particular leadership competency. Literature review identified various antecedents. However, our model includes the following antecedents: • • • • • Primary socialization, Work introduction, Consulting, Characteristic of the environment, and Work
Imitation, following up a superior and taking decisions based on these role models. Making Ethical
Capability is the hallmark of an outstanding leader. Never satisfied with the knowledge that they have, they constantly seek to learn, reason, and adapt.
Philosophy is "the rational investigation of the truths and principles of being, knowledge or conduct."(Stuart Berg Flexner and Lenore Crary Hauck, 1993). Leadership is the process of influencing others to accomplish the mission by providing purpose, direction, and motivation. Command is the authority a person in the military service lawfully exercises over subordinates by virtue of his rank and assignment or position.(FM 6-22) My leadership philosophy has been developing thru my Army career. I have use the NCO creed as a pillar for my Leadership philosophy. The outcome of my performance is a direct reflects of my subordinates. My ideas will not always the best, that is why my Soldiers have a open door to provide any feedback.
Growing up, I realize the important leadership roles that should be recognized in every day life. Leadership is an important part of one's self character because when someone sees you as a leader they tend to grow more onto you so they can be like you. Part of this statement fits a powerful quote i've always lived by while being around others. "It is the men behind who make the man ahead," this quote by Merle Crowell, fits the man I've molded into, simply because I have realized in numerous ways on how my actions can impact other people's actions. My parents always raised me to believe that what you put in is what you get out. So of course, I believe that if I make the decisions to be a follower of the wrong path, then wrong will follow me as well. Instead, I choose to take the golden path and promote a better outcome for my future and hopefully other's also. Sticking to the routine of a leader builds you into an even better leader. Being a better leader, makes me a better man each day that I choose this route as the leader of my path.
The ability and strength of an individual to achieve goals by supervising processes, guiding initiatives and employees is defined as Leadership skills. Valuable leadership skills include taking thoughtful decisions, allocation of resources, and the ability to delegate, inspire and communicate effectively. Other leadership traits include honesty, confidence, commitment and creativity. Leadership competencies can be used to effectively select, develop and promote leaders in an organization .The difference between Leadership Skill and leadership competency can explained as the required level of efficiency to perform a task assigned is known as skill whereas the quality to accomplish the same is called as competency. When creating leadership competencies certain factors are considered such as business strategies and future trends. To drive the use of competencies in selecting and developing leaders HR practitioners should use the business strategies. To effectively build a unique set of skills for the organization 's leaders, the firm will sustain competitive advantage. The role of a project manager has always been my interest. The position which I have always desired is a role of project manager.
2. In the Army we are train as future leaders to lead from the front, set an example for others, and take care of your people. We ensured our guys ate first, slept first, what ever it was, I allowed my guys first. We trained as a team and put trust in each other because if have too, we would count on each other in battle. I trusted my squad leaders and platoon
Throughout my life, I have never really been a follower in the typical sense. While I have looked to people older than me for help and advice. In addition, I never really saw myself as a typical leader. What I mean by that is I felt that I was a leader by doing my own thing and not worrying about everyone else or being a part of a particular clique. What I realized by just going about my business is that my attitude attracted others in the sense that they knew I was about work and wanted to emulate my demeanor in order for to be successful in school. One time that I recall in which I had to lead a team of my peers was this past summer. I enrolled in a few summer classes in order to better prepare me for college. For one of my classes
I took something away from the different sources of power. Power is the capacity of potential to influence. Power can corrupt good leaders. Power, by its nature, it is powerful and tasteless like carbon monoxide. The more powerful one becomes, the more likely we are to overestimate our own mental virtue. There is position, power and personal power. Power can be more deadly than drugs. Many leaders allow power to go to their heads. They forget what and who was important to them. They allow power to consume them.
Trust among team members is crucial when building a team. As your leader, I want
According to organisational behaviour by McShane, leadership is defined as influencing, motivating and enabling others to contribute towards the effectiveness and success of the organisation of which they are members (page 382, McShane).Becoming an effective leader depends on the leader’s leadership style. Successful leaders have vision and charisma, also the leader should have an ongoing personality, talkative, careful and self-disciplined. The leader must also have self-concept
