As a child, people have different dreams and interests. When asked what they want to be when they grow up, everyone has different answers. Whenever I was asked this question, I always answered that I want to become a doctor. I always wanted the medical kits and doctor play sets as a child. It was my dream as a child to become a doctor. As I grew older, I started looking into different types of medical fields, to see what interests me more and if I can actually handle the pressure and difficulties of this profession. I am planning to become a Cardiothoracic Surgeon as heart always fascinated me as it is a small organ that we depend on and its ability to function determines our lives.
In 2012, my grandmother suffered a Myocardial Infarction. There was a very less chance that she would survive, however, due to the advance treatments and care she survived. She only has 30 percent functionality of the heart muscle, however because of the medicines and regular check ups she can live her life normally. This was the time when I decided that I want to become a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to help many more people like her to live their lives normally even after having a heart attack. Becoming a Cardiothoracic Surgeon was just a dream and I knew it is going to be challenging however I didn’t have much knowledge about the functions of heart.
