Education is very important for not only my professional life but also for my personal life as a role model for my children. It teaches my children that a college education essentially is the key to success in the future. It opens many doors of opportunity and the benefits of education are endless. Education paves the way for many concepts that are instilled and taught in individuals at a young age, like “Learn how to learn. School teaches you how to gather, learn, and apply knowledge. No matter what career you choose, you will need to learn procedures, information, and skills related to your job, and execute tasks based on that information and training”, “Develop interpersonal skills, and refine your communication skills, including those of persuasion, conflict resolution, and teamwork.” “Learn time and task management. Learn how to manage projects, deadlines, and complete assignments efficiently and effectively.” And “Learn from experience of others.” It can make your dreams a reality, develop personal growth, and improve quality of life. As Malcolm X stated “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” This is why my first goal was to complete my Bachelor’s Degree and begin my Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Leadership and Excutive Management, in order to accomplish my ultimate goal of being Police Chief.
