One event that was lifechanging for me was my senior year of high school I decided to be a part of the Every 15 Minutes Program. This was a two-day program that included juniors and seniors to help prevent their peers from drinking and driving on the night of Prom. On the first day of this program, every fifteen minutes that passed on the clock, the intercom would come on throughout the entire school to announce that someone had “died”. This announcement would start with an introduction that read, “Every fifteen minutes someone dies due to a drinking and driving accident” and then they would say the name of the individual who has just died. After this took place, the grim reaper would go into the classroom, in which the student who had “died”, and he would state a beautiful introduction of that individual. The student would then put on a black and white mask and go into a classroom and hide out there for the rest of the school day. In the afternoon of the first day, the students who were apart of the Every Fifteen Minutes Program, including myself, reenacted the accident for the juniors and seniors down at the football field. Before everyone came out to watch the reenactment, the three other students involved in the car accident and myself had to put fake, sticky, red blood on our faces, hands, and arms to make it look like we were actually hurt and bleeding from the car accident. Then the four of us had to get into a wrecked, crushed up car that the school brought in from
Sophomore year was absolutely nothing what I expected it to be; It was the complete opposite of freshman year. Freshman year I was shy and quiet. Also, in Freshman year, I was on a competition dance team and that was all I knew because I spent every day at the dance studio, and because of that, I was not very involved at school and I had no time for anything. However, I decided to quit my dance studio so I could have more of a life in High School. With my newly discovered free time, I decided to join the Speech team, the musical, and the play at Marian. I also decided to get a waitressing job at Le Peep. Thanks to these new activities, I became more confident than ever. I also found a new love of mine, theatre. Not only did I find the a new
I've experienced a lot of events which had great impact on me since I was young. Thinking of life changing events, the one I would like to share is when I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. It was a very devastating day for me. A day that changed my life. I never thought Id get through but today I can say that Diabetes has changed me for the better.
Junior year. My junior year I realized things about myself that I hadn’t previously known. Things I’ve never done before and things people thought I couldn’t do. Situations I thought I wouldn’t be in and there I was. Junior year, I did it.
My senior year story, 7:35 am, when I get in the door ways of Clever High i see the band already putting up posters even though know one really joins.”Jordyn” I turn my head to see Maddie running towards me, she had just gotten out of rehab for her drug and alcohol addiction. Behind her was Rose , Rose was always pretending to be ok even though we all knew that she was getting raped by her dad at home. I always offered her a place to stay but she would never take it for some reason. “Hey babes” i said screaming down the hallway. “ Have you seen Claire or Hyper”, Maddie says i could tell she had been drinking her breath reeked from Vodka. “No, have you been drinking” is say nervously “ just a little to get the day started” she
It was the last last few days of summer before I started my Sophomore year of high school. My freshman year I applied and ran to be Sophomore class president, and I won. Before the start of school SGA (Student Government Association) had the responsibility to welcome and show new students around the school. While showing and bonding with new students I meet two new sophomores students named Ethan and Olivia. Ethan was a very attractive young man who was six feet and had nice dark hair, that was swooped to the right. Olivia on the other hand was a very short and pale girl who had orange hair that was very thin. Olivia and I both found Ethan to be attractive, Olivia made it known to me that she liked Ethan. It was the first day of school and
Senior year has been a rollercoaster of emotions and events. I got to experience things
Sophomore year of high school was a very different experience than the other years of school, mainly because, in English class, we had to use a blog. Most of the time, I used the Chrome browser to access it, but I occasionally used the Internet Explorer browser or Firefox browser. The host of the website was Weebly.com, a company that allows people to create their own website. When we made our blogs, we included many types of essays and reviews to videos or items we saw in class. Often times, this included attaching a hyperlink to a picture or text so that it would be easier to access a certain resource. This class allowed us to learn about certain websites and how they are formatted, like a wiki. Although it wasn’t a good source, we sometimes used Wikipedia because it was the easiest to use and find information about our topics.
An incident that changes the direction of my life was, when I broke my foot. As a young kid I loved playing sports and do aggressive activities. One day playing soccer someone who was bit stronger than I was, kicked my foot which caused the bones to break. I fell to the floor not knowing what just happened. All I remember is that some EMT’s come to the rescue and took me to the hospital. I was so glade and appreciative with the EMT’s that took care of me. As a result I told myself I will do everything that I can to help out the community just liked I was helped instead of worrying about myself and not others. I started volunteering with the fire department and received all the certifications required in order to start helping those in need.
During my Sophomore year I interned with the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. As an intern I trained and recruited volunteers, registered people of all parties to vote, canvassed and phone-banked for the 2016 Presidential election, ensured that voters had transportation to their polling place, and watched the polling locations to ensure the safety of all voters.
Being a freshman is the hardest of your four years in high school. Have you ever been pressured to be the best person you can be? This is how my year was as a freshman. Freshman year was the most different I never thought I would of found my way around the school when I first started to go there. Freshman year was the best year throughout my years of high school and it was the only year I had friends. During this year I had a lot of anxieties which dealt with me thinking I’m gonna be alone and not have any friends throughout the year to support me through the whole thing. Also, I would think of the pressure of not doing good in any of my classes so I would think it would affect my GPA in the future. The transition from middle school to high school was a different type of thing to do.
Sophomore year. Worst year of my life. I’m not even going to surecoat it. It was terrible. The only thing that was going good for me was school. I excel or CAN. My mom was getting bad again. I had to juggle cheer, dance, school, my mom, and my baby sister all at once. I was stressed to the max. I got through it surprisingly. On the brink. It was hell. One person, out of the entire world helped me through everything. My boyfriend. He, I would consider my “real” boyfriend. He helped me through a lot. He helped me through bad times and made the good times better. As sophomore year ended, my mom had the worse news to me i could ever imagine. She told me that she has throat cancer. It screwed everything up for me, even my boyfriend, couldn’t
An event that changed my life was when we won bayside South championship against Snow hill for soccer. It changed my attitude towards life and everything I have done so far to get here. It also changed my look on the way you should act towards people you may not like. It was probably one of the best things that happened so far. Winning that game was the best feeling in the world!
The tumultuous halls and classrooms of my school, filled with fellow students I had no past encounter with, lies the confirmation 15-year-old me sought for.
Life impacting events can come in many different forms. They can come as a wedding, the birth of a child, a divorce, a death, or in another way. Mine came in a single decision. I decided to join swim team in third grade and it changed my life. I have experienced so many amazing things because of this sport. I have gained time management skills, a great form of exercise and so many friends.
March 5, 2012 altered my life. I was in Orlando, Florida with my dance team. We competed at nationals the day earlier. The whole team was overjoyed with the results of the weekend. We got up at the crack of dawn to witness the spectacular world of Harry Potter at the Islands of Adventure. Honestly speaking, I wasn’t so fond of the idea of waking up at 5am just to see the magical world of Harry. I was yanked out of my comfy bed, yet after enough torture trying to get me off the bed, I was given five minutes to get ready. They raced towards the park as I walked slowly.
