My love of being in a laboratory started with my increasing interest in science when I was a child. Being from a single parent home, we did not always have money to purchase toys or do activities; so most of my younger days were spent outside and in the kitchen. During the daytime, I would catch insects, frogs, small fish in the stream behind our home, or help my neighbor on his farm. My neighbor taught me various things about the forest; he showed and named all the trees, edible and poisonous plants, what time we could harvest such edibles, taught me how to clean fish. One of favorite lessons he taught was where the best place to find salamanders. At night I would spend my time in the kitchen doing at home experiments, such as leaving an egg in vinegar, making slime, or a baking soda volcano. However, as I grew up and attended school, I became unsatisfied with my science courses. I wanted thorough explanation of why things are the way they are. Once I enrolled in college, I was excited at the endless possibilities that awaited me to reach my goals. My goal in the simplest form is to work in a laboratory setting away from the general public. I love to volunteer and help people, but I prefer not to interact with them. Starting as soon as I was sixteen, I worked as a cashier at a grocery store until present day; I believe I had enough interaction with the public to satisfy a lifetime. I decided that I wanted to be a medical laboratory scientist, because not only will I help
There are so many things in my life, that I am overly grateful, appreciative, and thankful for. My family, friends, good health, a roof over my head, and being able to do the thing I love and enjoy most, dance.
Passion; an intense desire or enthusiasm for something. The latin origin of the word ‘pati’, meaning to suffer. For me running is my passion in every sense of the word.
After graduated, I would like to be a laboratory scientist. Laboratory scientist is a challenging and meaningful job which is as important as doctors because it needs numerous knowledge and need to judge accurately. I want to use this knowledge to help doctors find out the diseases and physical condition of patients and let the patients can be restored from sickness as fast as possible. Although studying medical science is difficult and it is a considerable challenge for me, I still want to try
My educational goals are attending a four year university getting a bachelors degree in science with a minor in chemistry. Throughout my time in university I would also like to become a certified Phlebotomist and EKG technician. With obtaining my bachelors in science and minor in chemistry this will be a step towards my final education goal in applying to a master program to become a Physician Assistant. Being able to understand and know health scientific problems has been a lifelong goal of mines helping people to know more about what they can do to prevent or become better has always been my
“Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope.” -Kofi Annan. Literacy in my family tree will never be brought back to scholars or philosophers infact Many in my family have not seeked and further education and many have not even finished high school.my love for literacy has been placed into my heart by my sister. As a child my sister has always handed me book after book each one with a smile on her face.
After choosing to spend the summer in a chemistry lab at Foothill Community College, I discovered just how much I love science while tutoring other college students in the subject. During those unforgettable hours on campus, I learned about the college experience and it was ultimately my favorite learning adventure, so I was somewhat disappointed when it ended. I have found that the lab is like my second home, and am therefore naturally drawn towards the countless research
I don’t like work—no man does—but I like what is in work—the chance to find yourself. Your own reality … —what no other man can ever know. They can only see the mere show, and never can tell what it really means.
History has been my constant and my comfort for my entire life. My mother always encouraged my love of history, telling me stories about King Henry VIII, the War of the Roses, reading me the little house book, or buying me all the books I wanted on the simple subject all throughout my childhood. It has become my love and my passion and whether or not I become a history professor, I will without a doubt go into the field of history. I might do archaeology and combine both my love of history, and my joy of bones and dead people. I would have to study Anthropology to become that though and whilst I do enjoy that, I worry I will become too invested into that field and become a simple doctor. I know I would be happy to teach the
Although I enjoy my canvases and painting brushes, hence; the numerous appreciation certificates, I love Science just as equally. I find passion and interest in labs while performing fun yet educational chemical reactions or even while observing breathtaking organisms. That is, of course, shown through my grades and
My goal since my toddler years has been to be a hero. Today, I cannot see myself doing anything else. My long-term goal since the beginning of high school has been to contribute to the biomedical sciences, whether it is as a researcher, a surgeon, or a clinical physician. I want to make change, even the smallest improvement in anyone’s life.
I think that my greatest contribution to the community would be my love for research. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to help people in any way that I could. Although my desired career path has changed significantly over the years from wanting to be a Police Officer to desiring being a part of the bio-medical research field, I have finally found my niche in society; I know that I want to help people through research. I first discovered my love for research when I participated in National History Day, in the eighth grade. Prior to joining this program, I had loved to learn, but I hadn’t found a specific aspect of learning that really interested me. As read every article and website about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, I
My life time goals are oriented towards self-improvement, making a positive impact in people’s lives. This field is always evolving and I am excited to grow in my knowledge as well. I want to obtain my Master’s degree after getting a feel of the field. I want to teach and possibly work in research. Another main goal is to obtain a lab manager position over time. Overall, these goals would help me expand my knowledge and help my self-improvement. I have always wanted to acquire a profession where I would have a positive
Throughout my life, there have been several important experiences which have influenced my desire to pursue medicine. These include having a potentially cancerous mole on my ankle at the age of three, my love for science and academics beginning in elementary school, the desire to help people, giving back to the community, and to be a role model for others in the pursuit of their own dreams. Although not one of these experiences in itself led to my pursuit of medicine, I believe they all have influenced me in a way that compelled me to obtain a greater desire for the study of medicine. Had one of these memories not existed, I may not be in the same position as I am today with applying to medical schools. Nonetheless, I have known since a young age that medicine was going to be the right choice for me, whether through my love of it or through intuition, but there were several memories along the way that helped solidify this passion. Medicine has always been my plan A and plan B because it has always intrigued me. Although other professions may seem exciting at times, my love for science and helping others has made medicine be the right choice for me always.
It was an honest question, one not verbose to the point of obscurity, “What language do they speak in England?” there was a beat, and I, with my ten year old witticism responded to my 17 year old half-sister’s question with a candid retort, “English, duh!”. This amused my parents who continued packing their suitcases and travel books, her question stemmed from our much anticipated departure to Great Britain the next day and it had left us all buzzing with excitement. “Well when did you become such a know it all?” she veered, it was a half-hearted jest, more so antagonistic than spiteful as all sibling banter was. For me, variations of that question follow my retorts even now. I am the product of two English teachers as parents, my name, Elizabeth, stems from their equal obsession for the works written in the Elizabethan Era namely William Shakespeare and John Lyly. I am the product of my own genetics, my love for literature and passion for writing only fuels my ambitious nature and the pursuit to understand everything that this world offers.
“Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.” – Maya Angelou. Many people feel this way about music mostly musicians. Just like Maya Angelou I can tell that Dale and Sonny felt the same. Music can help you in many ways more than we know, for example music has been proven to help you relax, help you find love, reduces pain, improves your work, and music can even save someone’s life who is dealing with something in their life. Also, music can help you remember things. I remember making up songs and using songs I knew to help me elicit what I studied for a test or just understand what my teacher taught, for example, I made up a song to remember PEMDAS in my 5th grade math class. What I like about music is that it is not just one sound or one meaning, that there are many types of music and many ways to express your love for music. There are many types of music from gospel, rap, reggae, pop music, rock music, blues, orchestra, jazz, and even instrumentals which is no words just a beat and many more! I personally don’t have a favorite type of music, but I listen to gospel, R&B, and much more.”The things are difficult for me to put into words and speak about I put it into my music” Kevin gates he is a Hip Hop rapper. That quote means to me that sometimes speaking my mind is hard I can go and start writing and put all my feelings into music , and will be able to let people feel like how i feel. Music isn’t just for
