My Love for English and Writing

English and writing have always been among my favorite subjects. Writing has always come easily to me, for the most part words flow with little or no effort. A couple of semesters ago, in one of the English prerequisite courses, we were assigned to choose one sentence from 3 to begin with and write from there for 10 minutes. Most of my classmates came up with a couple of sentences in the time allowed, but I managed to write 2 pages. What I produced cold be an open ended short story, or the beginning of a longer story, a novella perhaps. It’s always been like that for me. I have no idea where it comes from, but it has served me well in English and writing classes that I’ve taken. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to lose interest when it takes too long. I don’t think I could ever write a novel, I wouldn’t be able to hold on to the story or the characters for that long. I think I’m more suited for short stories. As much as I love to read a good novel, a collection of good short stories makes me very happy. I’ve been a huge fan of Stephen King since I was a kid, and of all the fantastic novels he’s written, I have such a love for his short stories. When I look at the longer projects, the analysis of The Storm for example, I think my greatest struggle came in including in-text citations. Those things don’t really fit with my writing style, and it take effort to work them in. As a result, I’m rarely satisfied with the final product. I always feel like the addition
