It started like any other saturday waiting and wondering if your going to do anything exciting or if gonna be a big letdown for your weekend. You think to yourself as a kid how is today gonna play out? For me I always expected 50/50 chance on doing something fun or boring. That day I got lucky and had one of the most thrilling experiences. As we walked to the pier in california adventure I could see all the humongous rides surrounding me making me feel like a mouse in a corn field. I could smell the excitement pouring out of people. I can also hear the screams from the people on the ride passing by me as I walk by. I could tell my uncle was planning on trying to get on a ride and bringing me along.
“You want to try getting on one of the big boy rides”said my uncle trying to make me feel confident enough to try it out.
“Umm maybe i don’t know”I said unsurely.
“We’ll talk about it later”said my aunt trying to change the subject because my mom didn’t want me getting on a roller coaster. I remember getting in the toy story line because it took forever just to get on the ride. It took so long that my aunt had time to go to the restroom and my aunt takes forever in the restroom and then get my uncle and I some churros. Once we got on the ride I already knew my uncle was gonna smoke me like a camp bonfire. There was a point system that put the amount of points you had in a category with an animal in it. My animal I got was the cat which I think third from the top and my uncle
“You’ll be fine, I’ll go on it with you, it’s not scary. It’s perfectly safe.” Elizabeth stated, as if it was a fact, as we neared the park.
I was at the park, and it was me and my family taking a trip to the best amusement park in missouri. We took off from the house, in Fulton, Missouri. It was about an hour and a half drive to get to Six Flags in St. Louis. We finally got there, the lines were super long, and the park was packed already at about eleven in the morning. Me and my little sister were both extremely excited to get past the long line, since it was both of our first time being there. We walk through the gate, and my heart instantly dropped on spot. The rides were super big. With loops and corkscrews, and that made me go from excited to scared quick.I was only about ten years old; therefore, I was not able to ride that many rides, and I was kind of relieved to hear that from my family.
The summers of 2013, I went to Cedar Point. It was me, my brother, my mom, dad, and my dad’s friend. My dad said, “we are going to get on all of us the roller coasters” and the rest of us said “ok.”
Put the gun down! Put the gun down! Pow Pow Pow. The gun shots cracked into the air as loud as thunder. One after another. We live day by day not knowing our end. In the blink of an eye our lives can be changed forever. Its life, yet even in knowing this we never expect tragedy to find us. We never expect it to affect our lives and the people we know and love. I’m going to share with you the day tragedy found my life.
My first trip to Disney World, now that, that was a memorable trip. That trip was one of the most magical and happiest memories of my life. It was back in 2008, I had just turned 6 years old a few months before we left to go there. It was summertime, and the weather was perfect. I remember being so bored on the way there because I am an only child so I didn’t have anyone to entertain me besides myself. My mom’s side of the family went on this trip with us, and at the time I was the only grandkid, and the only kid at all. So once we finally were almost there I remember passing the big ‘Welcome to Disney World” sign and being so excited I peed my pants--my mom was pretty mad, but my dad thought it was kinda funny so I didn’t get in too much trouble.
one day we were going to this place called six flags. It was a sunny day that day we left from our house about 5:00 that morning but we were staying there for the weekend at my friends grandparents house in Atlanta. My mom and my two brothers were with us driving and my friend his hole family was following us when we went down their. And we all couldn't wait to get down their but i’m sometimes nervous to go down big rollercoasters but I didn't know that they were going to be that big.
First we entered six flags where we were very excited that we were there. We also had to listen to a very long speech about the rules and the rides of six flags. Then we started riding the rides the first ride we rode was the flash the ride was very fast and my dad lost his hat but it fall to the back of the sit. Then we found out there was a water park so we went back to the park to get some clothes
As soon as I looked up, I felt sick, the structure and ride was so big. I didn’t know that I could do it, but I had to, I couldn’t chicken out in front my Dad. After all I already told him I would go. We walked into Space Mountain, there were lights everywhere we looked. I started to jump up and down, I started to get excited for once about a roller coaster, I felt so proud of myself, I would actually get a chance to ride a roller coaster again! I felt scared, and I also felt so happy and proud of myself at the same time. My Mom and brother chickened out on going, so I felt so alive, and mature to be riding such a big ride. I looked at the line, there were no people, we were early! “Come on Daddy, there are more people coming behind us!” Behind me and my dad, were a big group of people walking in, we wanted first in front of the, so I ran and dashed through the aisle, the lights lit up
So my mom didn’t want to get on a roller coaster after.that which made me kind of sad and happy because we got to get on the other rides and so after got the iron riddler.we started exploring again and we got on a water ride based on the looney tunes.so when got and we had to catch a log to get on it.so me my brother, sister and dad got a log.it kind feels like we were on a river just the way it swayed and moved. as we moved it went slow at the begining it but all of a sudden is got fast and made a big splash.we all got wet then a head of a dragon started following the log and spray water.
Im sure there are many stories I could tell about myself but one particular sticks out to me. When I was about fifthteen we took a family vacation to Tampa, Florida. Usually we drive to our destinations especially in Florida, but this time we were flying. So we woke up early one morning and started to head for the airport. We arrive at the airport and it's still dark outside, little did I know you have to be two hours early for your flight. We made our way through security, coffe shops, subway, and finally a little store with headphones, neck rests, and magazines. We finally board the plane, I made sure to get a window seat. After what felt like forever we landed in Tampa and my aunt and uncle picked us up. My uncle and aunt are locals to
It all started on a sunny but crisp Saturday in December (the weekend after Christmas) with morning cartoons along with eggs, bacon, and toast. I was trying to talk my family into doing something fun, anything fun. We went down the list of choices from bowling to fourwheeling to shopping and finally chose to go to the movies. By the time we were all ready it was about 12:30 and we all hopped in the car to go.
Another formative experience I had was just this past summer. I traveled to Bonaire this summer on a coral restoration diving trip and when I was there I bonded with one of the counselors. His name was Luke and he graduated from Santa Clara University two years ago. When he was there, he majored in philosophy and he was one of the most down-to-earth people I had ever met in my life. Additionally, he was very intelligent and it baffled me why he was a counselor on a trip in Bonaire with a group of teenagers instead of trying to start a career. We talked a lot over the two weeks, but on the second-to-last night I asked him to share his story with me and he agreed. We sat down outside and began to discuss his life. I was very interested in hearing his life story because I was lost at the time. College was near and I had no idea what I wanted to study or if I was even ready for college. I am younger than everyone else in my grade and I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to study. I wanted to get right into it, so the first question I asked him was why he didn’t have a “real” job. He chuckled, as he understood what I was trying to convey. He explained that he doesn’t want a desk job from nine to five now or in the foreseeable future. All Luke wanted was to be happy and he said this was his only goal in life. He told me that his main job was a dogsled guide and I began to crack up. How could a person’s main job in life be a dogsled guide? This isn’t a question I just thought about,
“I can’t wait for Disney!” I exclaimed. I saw Space Mountain in the distance and my stomach started to churn, and I had butterflies in my stomach. I knew I had to ride it, but I had always been scared of roller coasters. The ride looked scarier than Steel Venom at ValleyFair.
“What did she do this time?”, I asked myself, as I opened the door to the downturned face of our caseworker. I remember letting her inside angrily and returning to the task I had been attending to before I heard the knock at the door. I continued the search for diaper wipes, which I needed to change my brother’s diaper. As I did this, I thought about how I always seemed to be cleaning up my mother’s crap. My caseworker gave me the details that her presence alone had already given me. We were being removed from the home.
When I was eight, my mother took me to an amusement park as part of a three-day vacation trip, called Holiday World. A few things stand out in my memory from that day, such as my first roller-coaster ride and the water park. It was a great day, and I had a lot of fun, but then near the end of that day I was taught a rather important life lesson.
