My Nursing Philosophy

Nursing is all about caring. My philosophy is based on providing a holistic care to patients. I think the essential elements to deliver high quality of care are knowledge, self-awareness, courage, honesty, equality, compassion and patience. My core values and beliefs are to treat others fairly, respect their differences and love them like I love myself. These values derived from the beliefs that my parents taught me; as well as I learned strong moral beliefs from my religion. These beliefs directed me to choose nursing as a career; in which nursing gives me a great opportunity to fulfill my desire in helping others, and providing comfort to them in their time of need. I believe that nurses more understanding patient needs and more able to adjust their surrounding environment to met their requirements. However, many studies investigate and address the environmental issues and factors that impact quality of care and patient safety. Some of these factors that are important for me, are caregivers, teamwork, and organizational support.
Caregivers. I usually consider family caregivers as vital partners in the patient care plan especially, patient with chronic diseases. I educate and engage them to health care process to be more confident and competent in taking care of the patient after discharge. Teamwork. My value and vision as nurse leader is enhancing healthy work environment to emphases safer and successful implementation of nursing care. I believe that would be done by building efficient and effective teamwork through providing training, continuing education, directing, promoting professional growth and motivation. These strategies will promote the nursing professional practice, positive attitude, and being collaborative in which positively effect on patients’ health status and facilitate patients moving through care
