Using My Open Math is a direct learning experience. The home page is set up so that the user can log in with ease, you do not have to click around to a sign in page to input the login information. Even though that may not seem like a hassle, it seemed to be somewhat of a burden when logging into Pearson’s MathLab. Once logged in, it shows the courses being taken on the left in plain sight. This again is a nice feature, as it doesn’t issue any strain on the user trying to do an assignment. Once inside the selected course, it displays the chapters and summaries available. These are displayed in drop down boxes, which once clicked on it loads the sections from a book, assignments, and chapter questions. The book isn’t what was given for class, however comparing the two books; they are relatively similar and felt as if there was no downside to using the book provided by My Open Math as a reference. One of the most underrated aspects of the site is the ability to attempt assignments an unlimited time. This isn’t the only feature that is important. When attempting the assignment, if the user does not understand the problem, there is a video provided on the specific topic being completed. This by far, makes My Open Math a valuable resource to use if a student is having difficulties understanding a topic. The ease of access, and intuitive design of the layout, makes this website a great tool for a student wanting to succeed. While it may not be the most attractive site, it most
Now that I am in a Blended Learning environment at Crestwood High School, I have witnessed a change in how to learn new mathematics topics. For example, in Menomonie, I was only able to learn the new math material from my teacher and all of our homework was out of the textbook. Often times I found I disliked math immensely because if I needed extra help while completing a math assignment I was not able to fully learn the topic because the textbook examples were completely different from the way the subject was taught in the classroom. Now that I attend Crestwood High School my Pre-Calculus teacher has the students take notes for the first part of the class and then the students usually have time to work on their math assignments at the end of the class period. But there’s a twist. Instead of having math assignments out of the textbook, which no one understands, we use an online math website called MathXL which tells us instantly if our answer is correct or incorrect. If your answer is incorrect, you have the option to be walked through a similar problem to understand how to complete the original

In developing this research, I plan to determine whether Old Dominion University (ODU) graduate web site, found at https://www.odu.edu/graduateschool, meets student needs and, if not, what design elements would better meet these needs. I hypothesize that these needs are not currently being met, as I often struggle to navigate the site as a graduate student myself. I constantly hear and share complaints about said web site with fellow graduate students. These complaints, which are often focused around a need for important deadlines and other timely information, do not seem to be represented in the current web site.
If the student chose to review a specific topic of the lesson, the program would send you to the beginning and repeat the entire lesson before getting to the desired
Returning to school as a non-traditional student has included a lot of challenges. Online classes have presented the most challenges. I have not enjoyed any of the online classes I have taken because I struggle with computer technology. This questionnaire reinforced the changes that I knew I would need to make in order to succeed in an online learning environment.
