It was always a dream to play hockey in college and maybe someday professionally. Growing older, I kept having these reality checks that someday that might not happen and I had to have a backup plan. I worked hard and committed to playing hockey in college. But then, I asked myself what was next. Playing professionally was a dream, but I suddenly realized that the dream I had as a boy was far fetched. I brought my leadership and teamwork skills off of the ice to the classroom and ended up with a passion that I never knew would develop. My passion for accounting grew daily and I want to continue learning to build the fundamentals that will contribute to a successful career. This is why I want to advance my education at Northern Illinois University.
Beginning my post-secondary education at Frostburg University, I was looking for an institution that would be able to satisfy my interests and hobbies. All throughout my educational career, I have always been interested in computer science, coding, and networking with different jobs in business and management. Living close to College Park, it was always an idea to attend a school that would be able to branch out to my interest. Coming out of high school, I was at a disadvantage— my time management skills were strong, but not where they should have been. I lacked the discipline needed to excel in computer science, but I was luckily set around the right people to guide me in the right direction. my close friends were able to introduced me to
Have you ever heard of the sport ice hockey? During the game of ice hockey players have to skate on ice and use a stick (not from tree) that is curved at the end and is used to hit a 3 inch wide circular rubber puck into a net that is 72 inches wide and 48 inches tall . In this sport there are 31 teams with 20 players on each team . Out of the 22 players there are three lines of players on the ice the goalie , 2 defense men , and the 3 offense men. When was the sport made ? Ice hockey was created or founded in 1917 with only four teams . At the time of inception the, NHL had five franchises – The Canadians and the Wanderers (both of which was from Montreal ) the Ottawa senators, the Quebec Bulldogs, and the Toronto Arenas. Then
The purpose of this research is to uncover the training techniques used by coaches historically and current emerging trends within the sport of hockey. The goal when starting to research this topic was to identify what has worked in the past but more specifically the developing trends used by the professionals in the sport. The reason for researching trends in training among hockey coaches was to educate myself on the direction of coaching within the field of hockey. Growing up playing competitive hockey the training and development within this topic is personally important as I plan to obtain my coaching certificate in the very near future in the hopes of potentially one day making a career out of it.
Hockey is an astonishing sport with competitive, rigorous athletes that play on, not a field, but a slippery sheet of ice making it one of the fastest paced sports in the world. Sidney Crosby is one of those athletes that has competed and won gold at the 2010 and 2014 olympics for hockey.
The sport of baseball is what i value the most. I value that because i have been playing that game for 10 years now. So after i grew up playing baseball. and then when when i got
Being a Sports Fan: It Is a Way of Life Sports have become a large essential part of society today. More and more sports have developed over the years, leading to a greater number of athletes and a greater number of supporters. Sports range from all different classes and levels such as: basketball, baseball, football, volleyball, soccer, etc. However, when people hear “sports” the first thoughts that come to mind are the players, the coaches, and the other staff members. Every person overlooks some of the most important people in the world of sports- the fans.
The modern game of ice hockey is played in many different countries all over the world. The problem is that I haven’t gotten “The” idea, yet; the idea with which I can evolve into something real. So, when I heard “Ideas start here”, I knew that the University of Waterloo is where I want to attend. I crave to be surrounded by people who have the same drive for bigger and better aspirations in this world. I know that this university is the start of phenomenal changes in the world that I want to be a part of; that I want to lead. I have the ambition and creativity that drives change. I have the passion and work ethic to make my dreams come true. I have the strength and support I need to overcome challenges. All that’s missing is the right education in the right environment. I know there’s a long journey ahead of me, but there is no other university where I can picture myself building my future so clearly as
My favorite place to spend time at is the hockey rink. I already spend plenty of time there being a goalie for the Fargo Freeze, along with with having my three other siblings play hockey as well. It is always fun to explore a new rink, and you are super fortunate if you happen to find a nice, cozy nook to sit and read in. Most rinks are super cold, but have toasty warm room with a wall of glass so you can enjoy the game. They usually have disgusting restrooms, one of the worst parts about it. As for food, they will usually have concessions. There are lots of open areas for the children to run around in and teams to warm up in.Take for instance, the Teamsters, a hockey rink up in North Fargo. Freezing cold, with a warming house, concessions,
a game played on ice and it is done this way for a reason. This is because ice has a naturally low friction, making it easy for hockey player to glide across the surface. As we know, friction is the force that opposes the main force (the main force being the movement of the player). The coefficient of friction between skates and the ice is around .03. Furthermore the ice’s composition assists the player in stopping, speeding up, or turning. When skating, a hockey player doesn’t skate with their legs pointed forward. Instead, his skates are tilted at an angle away from his body. This is because, while moving on ice, the friction force is almost zero and the force being created by the motion is perpendicular to the blade on the skates. The hockey player will use one leg to push and the other to glide, while frequently alternating. If the hockey player wants to travel faster they will angle their skates more. This helps to make the force larger. When a hockey player skates
Passion can be a strong word, but it’s a strong emotion. Passion is what drives people, keeps them motivated. Determination and passion go hand in hand. I have a lot of passion for guard. When I first joined, I was so bad that I just wanted to quit. I thought I was horrible. I kept trying and trying but it still hadn’t clicked for me yet. I had bruises up and down my arms, cuts on my wrists, and I struggled to catch everything. Other people told me I was okay, but I wanted to be good. I was determined to be great, and now I’m going to strive for awesome. That passion and determination for this activity grew stronger and stronger, as I was trying so hard to be good at it. I felt like quitting, but deep down I knew I wouldn’t because I had already
Safety is key. Safety is very important in our community, but do we have enough? Children playing on roads, animal crossing, and etc. A good example is more stop signs on road, especially neighborhoods. This will help keep kids safe. More ice skating rinks would be nice. More people will have fun. A better mall would be great also for the community, more people would want to go see the new mall and it would help the stores financially. Healthier restuarunts would be very good, 68.8 percent of adults are considered obese in the U.S. These restaurants will help people with their health and make money. The community will always need improvements and most of the problems we have to fix have a huge price. One of the biggest problems in my opinion
In conclusion, I want to continue my passions by furthering my college career. Together, my work in football and my knowledge of youth. Finding more ways to connect them and creating differences. Overall, furthering my college career will help continue my education, and football, which will pursue my
Sometimes mysteries are better remained left alone, but this one has me hooked on every word.
One thing that mostly all student and teenagers have in common is being involved in sports. What does every sport have to have? A coach. Being involved in sports has taught me to respect my coaches, parents, teacher, and any other authorities and to listen to what they have to say. Through sports, I was taught that when I didn’t listen, there would be some type of punishment coming my way. I would then learn that sometimes keeping quiet might just be the best option. Because of sports, I am able to work hard and get things done fast and easily.
