My Personal Worldview
My personal Christian worldview is full of heavy doses of God, and plenty of drizzles of the Bible, and it was born from a combination of how I was raised, my life experiences, and my assumptions. This worldview is heavily involved as I bring up my children to love God, and do my best to be a good wife to my husband. Most of all, this combination has filled my heart and soul with the conclusion that God is my all!
I was raised in a Christian home where my parents taught God’s Word as our guide for life. Every single evening, we all prayed together as a family, usually standing in a circle with all six of us holding hands. It was usually brief, but it was not taken lightly, and it gave me a strong sense of security in God and family. The Bible says, “Train up a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it”, Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV). My parents firmly believe this, and they showed it, as not only did we pray together, but we also had family Bible studies and attended church together. My parents also gave us a good sense of high moral standards. I remember, when trying to figure out how much I should do for a “needy” friend of mine, my mother reminding me that we were called to be servants, but not slaves! I have remembered that ever since and now, finally, I have learned to say no to other’s expectations of me when I feel it necessary, without feeling too badly about it.
Though my husband loves the Lord very much, he was
In summary, Christian worldview belief illustrated that there is hope for humanity. God created the universe and all who live in the world. God loved humanity that his plan was to restore the relationship with God for all believers. Through Jesus God can have a relationship with humanity and the holy spirit is the one that transform us to build our character like Jesus. We have to be a blessing not only to our family but to others so they can have the same opportunity as I had. This is the will of God and that was all of creation purpose to do the will of God not our own because we fall short in Gods glory.
The purpose of the Christian worldview is to guide one how God wanted us to live our lives. It starts from the very beginning of creation to the world we currently live in today. Christians have faith in Christ. Christians truth about God is believed to be “First, God created the world good indeed, the creation, especially man who is its crown, actually manifests God’s goodness and that all creation is fallen through original sin” (Echeyerria, 2007). This is what makes prophecy an integral part of Christianity.
I have learned that I am made in the image of God himself and he would not treat someone, speak to others or think about someone in a disrespectful manner. God would do to them what he would want done to him. I need to do the same thing to others as I would want them to do to me. I believe that God has a purpose for everyone and I need to look at the other person as someone God has placed in my path to show His love for them and to tell them about God’s salvation. God wants me to be respectful and to keep my thoughts pure towards others at all times. I have learned this through the Question of Morality/Ethics in my biblical worldview.
The IMF oversees the exchange rate of currencies and encourages the free convertibility of any currency into another nation’s form of currency. A Biblical Worldview component should be added to the IMF for the purpose of instilling absolute truths to prevent cultural subjectivity and corruption. Having Biblical worldview added as a component provides an authority for absolute truth to be derived from. Absolute truth would be determined through the authority of God and His word. Having God as a standard for morality would help to prevent corruption arising from subjectivity determined by power-alliances and bribery.
Throughout this class we have discussed the different worldviews that an individual may have. This class has taught me that a worldview is how an individual understands the world and their place in it. “A worldview consist of what a person believes to be real and true, what a person values, how a person makes decisions, and what forms a person’s desires, longings, and goals” (Fuller, Lecture One). An individual’s worldview is the motivating force behind their every emotion, decision, and action. A worldview is what helps an individual make sense of life and this world. A worldview will provide answers for many different questions in life. A few of the questions that a worldview helps answer are questions of origin, human dilemma, hope, and destiny.
A worldview is one’s views and beliefs about the world and reality that impact how we think, live our lives, and perceive the world. “People have their own private worldviews with values and beliefs that have been shaped by culture, education, experiences, and relationships” (“Lecture 1,” 2015). There are many worldviews and outlooks in the world, but we are mainly focusing on the Christian worldview. In this paper, I will summarize and analyze the Christian worldview and describe their beliefs with regard to God, Humanity, Jesus, and the Restoration while reflecting on my own beliefs.
From what I know, Planet Earth consists of seven continents. Collectively, those seven continents are home to approximately seven billion humans. And each human has their own unique worldview. Defined as, the bias or presumption a person holds as a result of the environment, culture, or faith they live in, worldview influences how everyone responds to life’s pertinent questions. (A Christian Worldview?) Throughout this paper, I intend to give a description of my own worldview, answering what I believe about God, creation, humankind, epistemology, and ethics. Whilst comparing my worldview to that of O. Henry's illustrated in the short story "The Ransom of Red Chief".
Whether clearly defined or not, everyone holds a worldview. Through life, travel, study, and contemplation, I have sought to clarify and substantiate my worldview. When comparing my beliefs to various other worldviews, mine stands up as logical and rational. Most importantly, my Christian worldview can be applied to contemporary problems and even explain many of the world’s issues. Though the Christian worldview is one of the most criticized, it provides substantive answers instead of more philosophical questions. After all, a worldview is only worthwhile if one can explain and defend their beliefs.
I have change my worldview so many times, growing up as a Christain. I’m not orieganally not from here, I was born in Liberia during the the war. My parents lost everything we had, including our houses, clothes, food, and not to talk about money. They had to fled with me to a neighboring contry cslled Guinea for a safety. My mom whom I love to death was also pregnent with my younger brother who now goes to ASU. My biological dad was killed during the process of us leaving the country and my mom was stuck with both my brother and I in a country with no support. So many kids lots their fathers in the war, because the rebels were afraid that the men might one day fight against them and take charge.
Due to the "highly subjective nature of most scientific theorizing... [we should] let the Bible speak for itself and modify our scientific view of origins accordingly." (as cited in Downey, D., & Porter, S., 2009).
Defining the difference between right and wrong is only as good as the ethical standards that are judging the difference. Without a foundation providing standards to define right and wrong there is no real reason to define it at all. What is morally right for one person does not have to be what is right for another. This is the society we live in today. This modern view has no solid foundation and instead relies on philosophy, science, traditions, or cultural norms to establish these standards. These standards that can be interpreted differently by any individual based on how the morals relate to a specific culture, the individual themselves, or a specific time in history. Something that may have once been considered an abomination could very well now be tolerated or even considered normal if someone is provided with enough exposure. Tolerance is no longer defined as respectfully recognizing someone else’s values without having to
I would describe my worldview towards the environment as a biocentrism person. This means I value all things. I also value plants and animals, which means I also have a Conservation Ethic. In general, I believe people should conservation the environment. Other people may have different worldviews, such as anthropocentrism and ecocentrism. People who have those views believe that make changes to improve human quality of life. I do not agree with these views because I think we should not be selfish. If we become selfish we will forget about all the resources we need.
Our worldview is essentially how we see the world around us, it is influenced by our experiences, how and where we were raised, our religion, the individuals who we surround ourselves with and our culture. My worldview has been affected by growing up in Ontario, being a Christian and being Christian education all my life, and having unique experiences. All of this has affected how I view the world around me and how I view education, curriculum, teachers and students. Based on my results from Education Philosophy Inventory I am a progressivist, because this was my highest score compared to the other philosophies. The progressivist believes that the student’s interests, goals and needs are important. They also believe that learners should be active rather than passive. One thing that progressivist believe that I disagree with is that students can make the future better than the past because society is continually changing. I think that people can make a difference in the world, but there will always be sin. It will be just as sinful as it was in the past as it will be in the future. Reconstructionism and existentialism tied for my second highest score. Reconstructionisms have similar beliefs to progressivists as they think that schools should take the lead to reconstruct society. I think that I fell into this category because school are teaching the future workers of society, teacher have a big responsibility. In a way teachers have the power to guide students to be an active
Our worldviews is how we see the world.”(What Is Worldview?) It is how we view everything around us, our family, culture, religion, morals, friends, others and ourselves. Worldview is how we understand life. Some see life in a positive way, negative way, with God, and without God. The possibilities of worldviews is infinite. No one has the same worldview as any other. We may have similar ideas and lifestyles we follow such as Christianity, Islam, Atheism, Deism, but we all have our own opinions on those subjects to. Is there a right worldview to follow? Well, I would say yes and no. We all should have a worldview of God and Jesus Christ in the picture, but it is okay to think differently and be different as long as our thoughts reflect of
This is an interesting assignment as I had never sat down and thought about my beliefs in quite this way. I know I have firm convictions, but I had never actually articulated what they were. I found to my surprise that my beliefs are quite simple. I have three main beliefs which are: that I believe in God, that certain laws are necessary, and that people should always follow the Golden Rule.
