Running head: MY PERSONAL CLASSROOM My Personal Classroom Management Plan Landon Hayes Grand Canyon University: EDU-536 June 12, 2012 Abstract The objective of this paper is to present my personal ideas on how to have effective classroom management. To run an effective classroom, the teacher should have a well developed classroom management plan that should be utilized at all times. Behavioral goals should be clearly stated and understood by all students. Good procedures allow a great variety of activities to occur, often at the same time and with little confusion. The teacher has to teach and model the procedures not just talk about them (Charles, 106). I will make sure that I do three things with my class to help teach these classroom procedures to my students. I will explain, rehearse and reinforce the procedures to my students so that they clearly understand the behavioral goals that are expected of them. Classroom Conditions: The single most important factor governing student learning is not discipline; it is how a teacher manages a classroom (Charles, 103). Classroom conditions should contain both a relaxed and positive learning environment for the students. My classroom will be filled with students who have respect for one another and who have respect for authority figures. The classroom will be run in an orderly fashion where rules will be given and will be followed by all students. I will stress the importance of high self-esteem for students and ensure that they learn to the best of their capabilities so that they endure success. Students will be taught not only how to be good students but how to become outstanding citizens so that they reach their highest potential as human
