At Children’s Discovery Center the daycare is split into two buildings, one building is for the children in pre-school and the second building is for infants to three year olds getting ready to start pre- school. The classroom I observe is for children 18 months to 28 months. They are about fourteen children in the class with two teachers. The way the class is set up the younger students and their two teachers share one classroom, but the teachers and their toddlers are not in the same room until lunch time and nap time. The classroom has a kitchen, reading area, girls and boys bathroom, activity tables and there is a connecting room for the children to have bible time and free play. The discovery center has three separate playgrounds for the

Professionalism in Early Childhood Education (ECE) for teachers is a branch of knowledge to acquire a process to become an expert in a specific field. In accordance to Caulfield, R. (1997), “Professional teachers in early care and education share a common base of knowledge of children’s development during the first few years of life” (p. 262). Basically, a competent carries out huge responsibilities in order to comprehend and stay committed to their roles. Moreover, working with children and families encounters active participation as their ability to communicate will gain more experience for the children’s families to rely on them. An expert is not whom with obtained a degree with excellence but a human being who is able to perform well with
Throughout the years from the age of 3 years of age to five years, these may be seen as an exhilarating time for the children and their families. We aim to make the child’s time at the centre educational. The main thing Little Joeys is working towards in the year of 2016 are for them to become confident within themselves and develop their use of communication skills and have the readiness of being able to transition into school. The centres philosophy is coherent with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) which is used with the educators interacting with the children.

I am a student at Florida Atlantic University studying early childhood education. I am enrolled in EEC 3214 class this semester; the class is called designing and implementing a blending curriculum: birth to age eight. I am required to complete a field experience assignment at a preschool. I will observe young children ranging from three to five years old. I assure you that I will keep all information confidential. In addition, I reassure you that I will not share the information collected outside of my course and that no identifying information will be shared. I will respect and follow all the school’s policies and procedures in a professional manner.
Saumya Patel is 5 years old. He attends Kindergarten at Sumter County Primary School in the Sumter County School System. Saumya is very intelligent, and is very far ahead of many of the students on his level. He is very independent, and he is very capable of doing many things on his own. Saumya sometimes questions why he sits in a kindergarten classroom with his intelligence. He does not understand why some of his classmates act their age.
Meals and snacks are part of the overall learning experience. Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack are served daily. Meal times are as follows: a.m. snack between 8:30 and 9:00; lunch between 11:30 and 12:00; p.m. snack about 3:00 PM-3:30 PM. Menus are posted weekly. Meals are served family style in the classrooms. Children’s nutritional needs are met with foods provided by the Center. We ask that families not send food with their children, except under special circumstances when they have made arrangements with the director and the teacher(s).
During my observations in the different classrooms at “The childcare Center”, I learned about the proper environment, the fundamentals of the teachers lesson plans, their health and safety regulations, their approach to guidance and discipline, and overall quality childcare. The center has eight different levels of age groups; each of them has their own curriculum based on their age and developmental needs. This curriculum changes and has a new theme each month that helps the lead teachers to be able to start their lesson plans each week. From infants all the way to pre-K the lesson plans include fine motor, gross motor, art and sensory, math and manipulatives, music and movement, language including both signing and Spanish.
I want to become someone who teaches, an educator, a role model, a teacher. I want to help children in their early childhood education. I want to become a teacher because teachers play a very big role in children’s lives. Not only do they serve as educators, but for many kids, the classroom is where they feel the safest. They feel welcomed and at home. For these certain kids it is their one place of stability where they are always guaranteed to be loved and get fed and to have fun. I enjoy watching kids grow and helping them develop their learning skills. Every kid needs a good education and I want to be the one giving them that good education. I want to make a difference in their lives and prepare them for the road ahead.
In the preschool, snacks for the children are provided 'buffet style' in an open kitchen area furnished with two connecting child-size picnic tables. Snacks and juice are accessible to the children in this area for a 45-minute period followed by free play time. Children are free to sit with one another as they please.
