Develop teaching expertise is the part of proposition from NBPTS, specifically knowing the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects to students (1987). One of the methods is continue to pursue their professional development by joining a professional association or organization, attending a workshop, and reading a professional journal, website, or books. These ideas enhance teachers’ cognitive growth by enlarge information of the latest strategies or method, enhance cognitive growth, and learning to help the teachers to become expert in their teaching and influence on student learning. One task I did was to subscribe to The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Teaching Young Children (TYC). NAEYC focus on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8. TYC magazine and website mainly focus on preschool teachers who could expand sources on practices, research or ideas to encourage effective teaching. Joining these two associations and magazine helped gain more strategies and ideas I could use in my preschool classroom. After reading the article from TYC magazine, I learned how to welcome children and Families to my classroom by providing well-organized classroom, decorate the walls, display photos of the children and families, offer warm greetings, and learn family’s names before the first day (Vol. 2m No. 5 6-7). I emailed my preschool team about NAEYC and TYC website, which will be a great resource to expand teaching ideas and strategies we can implement in our classroom. I visited National Education Association website that has many information contains latest information from education department, tools and ideas for teachers can use and updates information on the events and grant taking place in education field.
