Working on the RiFSK has been a journey. Among tight deadlines, an onslaught of constructive criticism, and extensive experimentation, the class was mentally straining, yet fulfilling. I genuinely feel that the class came together to create something worthwhile, and I am lucky to have made my own contributions to our project. First and foremost, my responsibility lied with the Coordination and Website group. Distributing tasks among the whole class was essential to both distributing the workload and having a thorough understanding of what our problem is. The Coordination and website group took the responsibility of facilitating efforts and conversations among all of the different groups. Facilitating efficient conversation and work was our responsibility during class time. When Professor Cumberbatch had nothing planned, we always had an agenda of matters that needed to be discussed as a full group. Oftentimes, I was the one timing each segment of our time in order to allocate adequate discussion time for different material. Although I would not always be able to keep us exactly on schedule, I was usually the person who spoke up to move on to the next topic. Making sure that everyone worked efficiently and made steady progress was also our responsibility. During this class, this entailed visiting different groups and asking about what they were doing and what their goals were. This would regularly lead into a short discussion on how they can accomplish their goals, so I
Remind students that they need to take notes during the seminar of important ideas shared. An addition responsibility of the outer circle is to notice what is going on in terms of discussion—does everyone participate? Do people seem to listen to each other? Ask clarifying questions?
1. Come to class on a regular basis. 2. Make sure that when we miss class that we contact the others in our group and instructor. It is our own responsibility to contact the group for any updates/notes or anything missed from class or group meeting. 3. Work on group assignments collaboratively and ask for input from the other groups as needed or the instructor to further move along to accomplish goal/assignments. 4. Meeting time/place: Schaumburg or Hoffman Estates ??? TBD 5. Switch roles per assignment: The following roles will be
I had no option than to cooperate and work together with them since it was a group task At the beginning of the group task, we decided to meet at an agreed time in a specific place. The tasks were shared to meet the required assessment as inter-professional collaboration and we agreed to work individually. Everybody attended this first meeting, each contributing his/her professional expertise. Through this, I learnt that every profession has positive contribution to make in partnership working.
You are expected to act professionally and to participate in classes. During each class there may be classroom discussions of various topics and/or group problem-solving activities. You need to arrive on time, and be an active contributor. Please turn off all cell phones. If you are expecting an important call, please notify me at the beginning of class, set your phone to vibrate, and quietly excuse yourself if the call comes during class. Your input is vital to this class. If you have an appropriate question or comment please feel free to share it with the class by raising your hand and waiting to be recognized.
For this class project, I think my group worked well together on the assignments. We all saw we had responsibilities and were expected to do our own parts for each assignment we worked on. For each assignment, we would split it equally among us and used a tool called Google Docs so we were each on our own computers but working together on one file. Google Docs really made the process easier with reviewing all the information and having it all in one file. If any questions came up we had a group text to communicate when we weren’t on campus grounds for class.
This was an issue because some of the group members did not live on campus and could not meet up as easily as others. Our group tried to meet up around once a week so that we did not fall behind on anything or leave something till the end. Also, the times that some members were able to meet, others had class. Some group members also had other assignments that required a significant amount of their time. This hindered their ability to meet up during the free time that they had. The confusion caused a lot of excess work in having to plan around peoples schedules in order to find an ideal time for all group members. We were able to overcome this by meeting on more than one occasion instead of all at once. This allowed for each group member to figure out the next step with another group member. We also created a Facebook group chat to be able to communicate with each other. We used this platform to message about any questions or to discuss anything and to plan meet up times. As it was discussed during lecture, this issue is a result from the barriers of communication. When the assignment was introduced, we were forced to answer the question of what barriers of communication we might see. We thought that for sure we would encounter physical barriers. The major physical barrier we encountered was people living off campus and having trouble meeting up. When looking at how our group worked with each other, what must be considered is our utilization of the four functions of management. These four functions are: planning, organizing, controlling, and leading. When our group first met up, we realized that in order to be successful in this assignment we would need to effectively follow these four functions. Another barrier of communication that was encountered was language barrier. One of my group members was still learning
We were all willing to work together. I was proud that they were willing to meet me on the day no one showed to class to work on our project.
During my college life on campus in my major, I normally get a lot of group assignment to complete. In my second semester, I have been engaged with some hard working group members who willing to achieve their goals. In this case, all of us were on the same pace to complete the assignment and get it done on time to the best of our ability. In my communication class called editing and film, One of the projects was to film some athletes performing and write an article about the sport. There were five members in my group and we all work together and each individual gets a sign task to do and complete it without an issue. We get one week to perform the task and the follow Monday we would have to present it to the class, we have complete the work on time because we all work hard together as a team to get the job done
When a group member is absent, other member are responsible for informing the absent member on what has been done in class. They should be informed on tasks that have been completed, and given necessary work that can be done at
As a student of Santa Ana College, I have recently had the privilege to work on a group project. Our group assignment based upon making a postcard for our school. In which this highlights the importance of one of the facilities that Santa Ana College provides for the students. As a group, we choose the Child Care Center as our topic for the postcard. As I worked in the group, I felt respected and valued. I felt that my group volunteered and contributed equally. We decided that two of us would work on the postcard and the other two would work on the essay. As we continued with our project, we divided the work evenly in order to finish on time. My group and I had different tasks in order, and we worked together afterschool
As a group, the community education team worked pretty well together, but there are certainly aspects that each of us could’ve improved on. Giselle, Grace, Char, and I each did our part, but could’ve done better at communicating with one another when we were coordinating the times we would meet to work on the project. There were several instances where we were unable to find a time where all four of us could meet, which led to 1 or 2 members of the group doing more work than others. If we were to assign titles to the group, I would call either myself or Giselle the leader or head coordinator, and I don’t think it would be likely that the memo,
The first thing we did was all gather and make a PowerPoint to gather our information, and put the cites we were using for our information. I found the political cartoon and PSA for the group. We figured to do everything on our own then come back later to see where we were. Somewhere ahead and a couple were somewhere behind. Next we had to make a preview of our topic and what question our research related to. We had some problems because some people were gone and some did not do the there work. So I made the preview for our group and presented it to the class. The next day most of us had our worksheets done but one of us did not so we had to present with 3 instead of 4. I though I contributed to the group because I did my work on time.
Establish and create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, support and encourage student participation by allowing students to feel comfortable when expressing their views and opinions, set clear guidelines and routines for the classroom, clarifies guidelines for group work, such as clear instructions about role-taking and interaction between group members so that all students are involved and participate effectively.
Working in a group can be very difficult at times. Different people with different views may not always agree which one another. Throughout the various task I played the communicator. I made sure everyone was on track on what we wanted to do. I also made sure people was okay and happy in the role they was playing in the group. My group worked together in collecting ideas from one another and making it into one.
4. Your group will present and lead the discussion of the question(s) assigned to you. Although the group in charge will be the major discussants for the assigned question(s), it is highly recommended to have the rest of the class involved and participated in the discussion.
