My Role As A Member Of The National Junior Honor Society

Leadership is being able to guide other students into being the best they can be. I am a leader who is always positive and cheering others on to achieve their goals. At my school, I have a position as the Vice President of Academics in National Honors Society. Since I have obtained this position, I encourage other students in this group to participate in service projects which is where one volunteers to help out the community in some aspect. These volunteering opportunities are good thing to do because it builds character and it is always fun helping others out. As a leader, I bring new ideas to the table on where we should help out in the community and anything that we could do in school that would fun and helpful. Along with participating in National Honors Society at my school, I am also involved in our Student Government Association. Although I do not have a leadership position in this club, I still engage in the activities that we do. For the past two years, I have gone to an annual meeting for leadership where multiple schools attend. I was part of the Air Cadets, a program to help the youth with leadership and teamwork skills, I showed my leadership skills by raising money for my squadron. Air Cadets allowed me to take part in my own community. I am active in many sports such as; golf, tennis, table tennis, soccer. I also enjoy playing chess with my brother and father and I enjoy skiing and skating during the winter time. At school, I try to enjoy it instead of seeing it as a stressful job, I make sure that even if I have stress, I can deal with it calmly and effectively. I easily understand concepts and learn new things quickly which will benefit me if I miss a month of school for this program. I usually do my assignments beforehand so that I have time to add any final touches and have it edited by my peers and teachers. I show my leadership in many different ways. All leadership qualities such as scholarship, character, citizenship, leadership itself, and service should be exemplified as an NJHS member at Claughton Middle School! However, one quality that attracts my attention the most is "leadership". This outstanding quality drove me to believe that "leadership" should symbolize our school's organization, National Junior Honor Society.

I have heard about National Junior Honor Society way before Middle School. Students who are members always are exemplary students and are of good characters, well enough to be my role models. Ever since my elementary years, I have maintained all “A”s grade, I always have interest in leadership and service, and I always thirst for a challenges and accomplishments.., things that I know will make a good fit to be a member of this prestigious organization.

I have had many accomplishments and times of leadership. Some leadership roles I have participated in are: being Deacons Quorum President, Senior Patrol Leader, Band, Cross Country, “Teacher’s PET” in 5th grade, and Basketball. Some achievements I’ve accomplished are: being #1 on the reading hall of fame in 5th grade, had 4 Band concerts, gone to Scout Camp and helped with eagle projects, been to 7 Cross Country meets, and been on 3 Basketball teams.

I believe i should be in National Junior honor society because i work hard to keep my grades up, I take responsibility for my actions, I join in on school events like the dances and make sure i'm polite to my peers. I show leadership when the teacher leaves the room and i decide not to mess around, listening to the teacher in class and showing up to school with a positive attitude. When i show up to school with a positive attitude i smile say good morning and i’m ready to learn.

On behalf of Beaufort Middle School, myself, Dr. Tomon and The Faculty Council we congratulate you and your student on being selected for membership to the Beaufort Middle School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. The NJHS is a program that celebrates the success of many of our hardest working students, based upon academic achievement as well as the demonstration of outstanding character, service, leadership, and citizenship. These criteria for selection form the foundation upon which the organization and its activities are built. Members of NJHS take pride in their accomplishments and work diligently toward the goal of attaining a superior education and contributing to their school and community. They do their best to provide positive role models for their peers.

This has kept me out of many of the elected leadership positions in our school. However, there are many other ways that I exemplify my role as a leader. One of these ways is by being a part of athletics. I have always felt like a leader in this environment, as I have always exceeded at sports. As an underclassman, I would be the one who helped out with cleaning up, and pushed my teammates to get better. Being apart of these smaller groups allows me to feel more comfortable when leading others. I also lead the team to getting better by helping to set up practices when the coaches were not allowed to coach in the off season. This made me a better leader in everyday life as I am now a more active leader. I lead in group projects, telling people what needs to be done and when. I make sure people are on track, and do not act out. Despite not being a leader to the many, I have still been able to make a big difference by being a leader in my everyday life as an athlete and a

Leadership has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have always found myself taking on leadership roles, whether it be by volunteering or coordinating different projects for the benefit of my school or community. Taking on leadership positions has allowed me to develop skills in communication, delegation, and managing multiple tasks and deadlines. As a member of National Honor Society and an officer of Student Council, I am presented with various opportunities to show my leadership skills. For example, I have been in charge of planning multiple pep assemblies for my school. Helping coordinate blood and canned food drives, angel trees, as well as organize an abundance of fundraising events has created a sense of reliability

I am ready to fully accept the responsibilities of National honor Society. I am involved in many activities and I am dedicated to push myself and reach my full potential in each and every one. In basketball, sometimes I would get knocked down but I would always get back up with the encouragement of my teammates and work harder to win. My coaches really influence me on and off the court. Coach Batchelder will critique me on the court and it’s up to me to make adjustments and also off the court he reminds me to maintain my grades which are also on me. I play a sport all year-round, my daily schedule is school, practice, homework and bed at 10:00pm so I can get 8 hours of sleep to start the day all over again.

National Junior Honor Society will be a great opportunity for me. If I am accepted into NJHS I plan on keeping up my 4.0 average, balancing between school and outside of school activities, continuing to help my community/peers, and creating a specific idea to make a positive impact at the school. The next 3 paragraphs I will be stating why I will be a great member of NJHS, why it's good to help people, and something I could do to positively impact my school.

On Oct. 21, students were selected to be in National Honor Society during a “tapping” ceremony at the high school. Almost all of the students and staff at GHV are in attendance of the ceremony and act as onlookers. During this ceremony, students who are either juniors or seniors meeting the NHS requirements and having submitted an application wait in anticipation as current members walk around the auditorium delivering paper slips of admission.

It is a honor to be admitted to be considered for the National Junior Honor Society. Over my first months at Hickory Creek middle school, I had heard about the national junior honors society. In the beginning, I thought to myself, What is this junior honor society? I wonder what they do. Over the course of the winter I found out how the NJHS helps give back to the community and helps its member succeed academically.This things stood out to me because I try to excel academically while, giving back to people and I feel that I meet the standards to join the NJHS.

I have many experiences with leadership experiences due to my participation in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). In FBLA I had to take a leadership role in a group project that we compete with. While I was the leader I influence others to get the project done and work together as a team. I made sure that we were all on track and that our assign tasks were being completed. When there was an issue I would try to help them and figure out what was happening. I would bring peace when there was arguments.

My personal experiences of leadership started when I was younger, roughly 7 years old, I was elected the captain of my travel soccer team. At the time I didn’t think much of it, nor did I have any extra duties that I was explicitly told that I needed to perform. Later throughout the season, I started to notice my teammates mimicking my styles and techniques and I highly enjoyed this feeling of being looked up to. I didn 't realize until years after that the recognition and pride I felt was leadership. This privilege of being captain was the first time I had realized that people weren 't necessarily following my actions because I was extraordinarily skilled, but because I provided this role model status with my confidence and encouragement.
