As senior year is coming to a close, I’ve been reflecting on all that I have accomplished not only in school but also in my spiritual life. At the beginning of the school year I set several goals for myself to accomplish during my senior year. Our responsibility as seniors was to be spiritual leaders, and good role models to the younger students at school. It feels like just yesterday we were setting our goals to accomplish by the end of the year, and now it’s already time to graduate and see if we accomplished these goals. The first goal that I wanted to accomplish was to get out of my comfort zone. I can honestly say that this year challenged me to get out of my comfort zone, and I feel like I accomplished this goal. I’m usually very shy, …show more content…
I think that I’ve definitely grown in these areas of my life; however, I don’t think you could truly accomplish goals like these. There is always room to improve, and grow even stronger in these aspects of life. I hope that while we were in Puerto Rico that I was a shining light of Christ to those children in the orphanage. As far as reading my bible everyday, that was a rollercoaster ride. I would start out strong then slack off, then start back again and then slack off again. Despite all of this, I am continuing to work on reading my bible more, and grow closer to the Lord every single day. I want my relationship with the Lord to grow stronger, so that when I get to college my faith can withstand anything. Our theme verse for our mission trip was Matthew 28:19-20. It says, “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you and be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” This was not only the theme verse for the mission trip, but also the theme verse for my spiritual journey. I feel like my class and I did a good job living out this verse in Puerto Rico, and I’m hopeful we will continue to live by this verse as we go our separate
Other than graduating from high school, I believe all high school seniors have specific goals in mind that they set for themselves to achieve before they graduate and move on to their lives outside of the seclusion of their parents. I have set both school and career goals that I wish to fulfill before graduating both high school and college.
Since graduation, can you share where you are in accomplishing the goals you have set for yourself?
When I was a little girl, I would always dream of being those famous celebrities on television. But I did not grew a desire for that. As I grew more and experience more things in life, I start having a desire of being a pediatrician. I also have a desire to travel the world and live in Atlanta for the rest of my life.
As much as we dread waking up early, sitting through 6 classes a day, and completing numerous assignments it's what's going to get us to the day we receive the diploma that will finally say we are moving on to adult hood. They say these four years are suppose to be the time of our lives, and they will go by in a blink of an eye. It's true. Here I am, my second semester of my junior year writing about who I am, thinking about my future and how I would like for people to see me. I want the world to see me as a follower of Christ.
Ever since I was young, I was exposed to a Historically Black College or University, Jackson State University. I had always went to activities and functions such as football games, summer programs, and other special events. I did not know whether I would attend a historically Black College or University (HBCU) or not at the time. I had finally decided to go to a HBCU, and I would attend Tougaloo College in the fall to further my education. I have many goals and objectives for pursing my educational experience at a historically Black College, and I plan to achieve them.
“We all long to be in the flourishing section, but we stay in the safe section”(Mr. Mustard.) I want to be able to stand up for what is right no matter who it is for or when it is. “ For I know the plans I have for you, Declares the Lord, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future(Bible Gateway.) This is has helped through this year because it has helped me to know that I am the temple of God and I am the body of Christ. I know that my plans and God’s plans are different. I learned that through this year. I always wanted to make my own plans like I will study this or I want to do this. But it I have found out that it doesn't work that way. I know I have to believe in him and he will show me the way. “Also tht I am the body of Christ, when God looks down onto this earth, He will look down on us and see the image of Christ in us”(Pastor Matt.) That just blew my mind, I don’t know why, but it did. That is why I want to grow more in my faith and my action because we all are made in Christ image, and we should fulfill
In the next 6 months after graduation my goals are to get all moved in at my new apartment in Iowa City, I signed my lease with two other friends of mine. One is from Mount Pleasant and I've became good friends with him since I moved here last year. The other friend is from Des Moines and was my friend before I moved away, Both friends are attending school at The University Of Iowa. When I move, I plan on working a full time job. I’ve been looking at job openings in Iowa City and there are some what a lot of jobs that I could potentially at, I would like to get a job at the hospital; they pay decent and I've done the math to see if I’d be making enough to pay for my bills. Minimum wage in Iowa City is mostly higher than $10.00
I have accomplished some of my goals in the physical, emotional, intellectual, social civic categories. It has been a challenge to maintain every single goal, but with the time I have been able to reach most of my goals. It was not very easy to do every single one, but I tried my best in every category.
I see my life as a series of experiences that build upon one another and, through my hard work and determination, lead to overall long and short term goals that I have set for myself. There are thousands upon thousands of things that affect my life both directly and indirectly all of which have varying degrees of influence on me. Three areas of my life that most certainly have had a profound impact on me are scholarship, spiritual formation, and service. These three areas have affected me positively, and have motivated me to pursue higher levels of education, and have challenged me to set my lifetime goals higher. Though I'm not exactly sure where I will end up in life, I know that if I let my academics, spirituality, and service
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. (Matt. 28:19-20).
Next year, I will be attending Jonathan Law High School. When I am a freshman, there are a lot of things that I want to accomplish. Some of the goals I have are that I want to accomplish by the end of the year are: to be on the volleyball and softball team, and I want to make new friends. I also want to take some more difficult classes and pass them and join some clubs.
When I was a Freshman, I wanted nothing more out of high school than to be a popular sports star with lots of friends, up until one particular Monday evening. Someone whom I at the time did not know spoke at a high school ministry, and planted this dream of starting a student-led on campus Christian ministry at Urbandale High School called Catalyst. Through a long process 5 high school student banded together and made it happen. I got involved as a leader, and little did I know that Catalyst would one day become one of my greatest passions in high school. My Sophomore year I decided to stop Bowling and my Junior year I stopped playing Football, both of these were more or less so that I could create time for Catalyst and a whole host of
A very well known verse is Matthew 28:19-20 but it tells us “Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit…” This verse doesn’t tell us to just sit and home and wait for people to come to us and then tell them the Gospel of Jesus. It says GO! If we go, then God will reveal our purpose and assignment once we are walking and following in alignment with Him. One of my favorite quotes from the whole book is, “If you are living a Godly life, He will give you the right desires. (Macarthur page
Matthew 28:19 states, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” This verse, for as long as I can remember, has always had a tug on my heart. My sophomore year of high school, was the first time I actually took action to the calling on my heart. I went to another country to create disciples, but the truth is, the experience changed me more than I could possibly change any of them.
The future is a time or a period of time in which we follow through from the moment of speaking or writing our intentions. It is a time that has yet still to come. The future is what we work for, to go through school and have a career, in order to have a better life. My parents have taught me to work hard for the things I want, and I wish to have a bright future. That is one of the reasons why I am here at CI, to get an education that will help me find a career with sufficient salary that will support me and my future family.
