For my relatives and friends outside Australia and those who did not attend this celebration on the 30th of November 2013, this was the best part of my son’s celebration. It was full with music and traditional dance. The Australian Capital Territory and NSW are the wonderful places you get the support you want.
This week as we watch O Brother, Where Art Thou? and The Piano, we are given two
On the 26th of January 1788, marks the anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet. It was when British ships made landfall on Australian soil, which is now celebrated as the National Day of Australia. However Indigenous Australians look back at the colonization as a violent invasion. In Ben Roberts Smiths opinion piece “We are one, but we are many” (Herald Sun, 26th January 2017) enthusiastically proposes that Australia should be a day of unity and a reminder to think about our nation’s past, and to celebrate the present and to look confidently ahead to the future. He emphasizes his opinion by employing clichés, inclusive language, statistics, emotive language and family values.
The author Wes Moore recounts the time in chapter one, “Is Daddy Coming With Us?” , when he met his father who at the time was just a strange man. Wes states that “[he] looked at his mother… [moving] closer to [her] hip” (Moore 25). He continues by telling the reader that he automatically felt safer next to her. The reason for this text is to help the reader understand how many families can help with the development of a person. The author describes this event in full detail to show how Wes’ family provided him with a sense of feeling safe and sheltered.
Last year, on the 25th of April was the centenary of the Gallipoli landing. Which, according to the Australian Defence force website, was to be for Australians, “one of the most significant commemorations to take place during their lifetime.” With the centenary looming in the backs of the minds of the Australian people, it is unsurprising that great pains have been taken to construct a three year long celebration that would “encompass a number of historical milestones on Australia 's involvement in conflicts”, such as both World Wars, Korea and Vietnam.
We Australians must have been very well-behaved over the Australia Day celebrations this year. So much so, that media outlets had to dig deep into the archives to find a story to talk up that would fire up our Australian sense of nationalism.
This passage from “My Innocent Uncle” written by Chae Manshik reveals to readers how the author viewed Japanese colonialism in Korea. First of all, “I” keeps using the word “scotchalism” through the story while his uncle always uses the word “socialism.” The author tells readers that “I” is half-educated unlike his well-educated uncle. “I” thinks that his uncle ought to make money and “scotchalism” is his worst enemy. However, according to “I,” scotchalism not only affects his uncle, but also "every Yi, Kim, and Pak of ‘en.” The author uses Japanese names in the story repeatedly, yet readers can find Korean names only in this passage. He even avoids the character “I”'s name intentionally. This would imply that Japan made Koreans abandon their
I think this story is not good neither good written. The title is too simple, it doesn’t catch your attention. The beginning is not interesting, it doesn't make you want to read more, it keeps repeating, the kid goes to the factory with his friends open the book and teleports to one place and then another, the summary has several spelling

Poetry is like a song without music, it has the ability to awaken your emotions and the ability to tell stories that can paint beautiful, relatable, imagery in the viewer’s mind. Upon reading the poem, “My Son the Man” by Sharon Olds, she presents a unique view on her bittersweet experience of watching her son gravitate towards manhood, “Suddenly his shoulders get a lot wider” (line1), while realizing he is astute enough to escape his mother’s strong hold, “to learn the way out” (line 16). As a mother myself, I began to recognize how I can relate to the speaker’s challenges of understanding a child’s need to test limits and break free from dependency. I realized through the speaker’s obvious allusions to Houdini expressing the need to break free, the contrast used to convey the indirect references to Houdini, and the similes used to express emotion toward reflecting back on a time of innocence, accepting the need of a maturing child’s independence proves the strength of a mother’s love.

Rees, you have demonstrated your love for and faith in God consistently over many years, time and time again. You gave up the privilege of raising your son Samuel for the greater honor of serving God in Africa, and your intercessions played a part in molding the events of World War II. Do not give up. Keep pressing in to find and follow God’s will for your life, because He has proven Himself faithful.
Enjoyment is the first purpose of the novel, although Jacobs always reverts back to the Coda in order to pair each task with a small lesson. In order to establish a connection with the reader, Jacobs maintains a light, conversational tone that keeps them engaged. Using short, and often tangential sentences, the reader feels they are taking part in a one way dialogue with a friend rather than a credible author. Often, Jacobs uses improper grammar and even expletives to facilitate a humor baseline. As Jacobs jokingly describes the difficulty of writing his essay without the help of his outsourcers he complains, “Sheesh. What a pain in my butt.” (33) Without context, this sounds like a childish complaint, but the use of relaxed diction is in
'All my sons' written by Arthur Miller is a dramatic play which shows actions and consequences and morality and studies the theme of idealism verses realism, social responsibility and the American dream. This play takes place after World War II, in the year 1947. The play shows conflict between a Father and a son and how quickly a family can fall apart following a serious revelation. Arthur Miller uses techniques such as characterization, stage directions and a delayed climax to show the conflict between the different characters throughout the play and to help the audience understand the main themes indicated throughout the play.
