Abortion is one of the most controversial topics in society. Many people believe it is immoral while others believe it is a personal decision. An abortion is the “removal of of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy” (dictionary.com). On January 22, 1973, the U.S Supreme Court declared abortion legal due to the landmark Roe v. Wade court case (OBOS Abortion Contributors). The Supreme Court declared that women have a right to have abortions under the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution.

Nowadays, in this world, there are a lot of problems that can make tremendous conflicts for human beings. They are very complicated and bring a lot of argument and nobody knows what the exact answer is. They also have pros and cons. One of the most complex problems is abortion. This is due to moral and ethical values which we all have. The majority of us are Christians or are brought up in that kind of ambiance which means that as small children we were taught values that are based on the bible such as that famous phrase “Thou shall not kill”. This phrase relates to this topic because an abortion is the murder of a human being.

Abortion really today has been a very controversial issue in today’s society. An interesting claim within it is that abortion can be done safely through the use of medical abortion and although medical abortions can be safe and trustworthy as experts might say, there still are risks that women will have to face and eventually take after abortion. Major types of risks can be pelvic infections, blood clots in the uterus or maybe a torn cervix. These are just few out of many health problems caused from abortion.

We also discussed the many reasons why a woman may choose to have an abortion. And surprisingly, what I thought I knew about them was completely wrong. Abortion has been a highly debated topic in the United States for many years. Contrary to the belief of some people, life begins at conception when a sperm fertilizes an egg according to Princeton University’s Margerie England. If life begins at conception, abortion should be considered murder. How can society permit the taking of a precious human life without consequences? An astonishing 1.06 million babies were killed in the United States alone in 2011. This major issue must be talked about no matter how uncomfortable it may be. Imagine a world where you are forced to give birth to a child you cannot support financially or emotionally, a child that was produced from rape or incest, a child that would suffer from prenatal diseases, or a child that threatened the life of the mother. That is the world that a pro life advocate sees for our nation’s future. We are all entitled to our own opinions, but the moment we start to impose our beliefs onto others is where the line is crossed. The conflict over abortion has been a widely debated topic for many years and is largely at the forefront of discussions in past and current political debates. There are two main views to the discussion of abortion, the first being a pro-choice view and the second being pro-life. Abortion is one of the most disputable issues discussed all over the world today. Several decades ago abortion was considered only a social issue, but now situation has changed and it has also a political and ethical issue attached to it as well. Arguments against pro- choice are typically biased; overlook the fact that the legalization of it benefits the health of women, and deny women the right to do what they want with their bodies. Thus, the main aim of this paper is to discuss the pro-choice view on abortion while analyzing the opinions of other authors in this paper.
