My strong interest inventory showed me my top three highest-scoring letters in my general occupational theme, which are IAS. The “I” stands for Investigation, which means someone who prefers to take a scientific approach to things and likes researching, and experimenting. Then letter “A” stands for artistic, which is someone who takes a creative approach to things, and likes art, designing, music, or writing. Then the letter “S” stand for social, which is someone who enjoys the companionship of others, and like teaching, or caring for others, or just talking to people. Then in my basic interest scales two of my interest areas were science, and counseling and helping. The interest area science means someone who likes to deal with facts and find the truth in things, and do conduct research and experiments to find these facts. This came up as one of my interest because I was recently going to get biology major because I do enjoy science, and I remember as a child I was always interested in animals and their scientific explain behaviors. Then the interest counseling and helping mean someone who likes more things involving psychology, and likes to aid and give guidance in resolving personal, social, and psychological problems for people. I think this came up in my interest area because it was another job choice that interested me for a moment, and I do enjoy helping people, and my friends and family come to me a lot about their problems, and I like helping them through
As an educator and advisor, I am very interested in student interest inventories. Working in the classroom, it can be very difficult to assess interest of students when choosing thematic units or classroom project. As a college advisor, I am constantly searching for resources to help my students choose a future career path. I completed research and found three popular interest inventories- the Strong Interest Inventory, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Clifton Strengths Finder. Each of the three assessments analyze the same general theme of interest, personality and career choice. I have analyzed each to determine the best interest inventory to use with my students.
In order for me to complete this career assessment paper, I initially took an Interest Inventory survey. Upon completing this process, it revealed that my personality profile score was (I, C, A). These three letters represented my strengths and interests in determining which career field would best suit me.
The first category, professional support services, is listed on the Career Interests assessment as well as the Skills Confidence assessment. This field has a school counselor and social worker listed as occupations. The third category, mental health and counseling services, also has social worker and school counselor listed, along with a few similar career choices. The last category on the Skills Confidence assessment, family and community services, is extremely similar to the mental health and counseling
With linguistic, I’ve never had a thing for English, writing, journalism, etc. I’ve always been a musical type of individual. I enjoy looking into the entertaining business to find my spot in the field. I’ll most certainly relish the opportunity to work in the music field and live out my dream as a talent agent later on in life. I do agree with this portion of the questionnaire for this reason. Logical-mathematics is definitely not my field. Although I have a minor in business administration; math has never been my strong field. I’ve always needed plenty of help performing tasks dealing with any type of mathematics. Now, bodily-kinesthetic was the one that had me on the fence with whether or not I should’ve been on that side. I’ve never been a very physical type of individuals; however, I noticed that acting was one of the typical roles listed. I’ve always wanted to try acting (and I will soon enough), but I can’t disagree with his description chart because acting was the only job in the category that I agreed
With the variety of majors and interests college offers, the decision of choosing a career holds a heavy weight. There are many paths one can go to have a successful, fulfilling job for the rest of their lives; this is where college can explore a person’s likes and dislikes. From taking taking the self-assessment, it resulted careers that revolve around medical and/or as educators to help others. These choices seemed very very accurate and possible that I want to pursue. I have always been passionate of caring for others in some source. The four careers that I decided to further research are: occupational therapist, social and human service assistant, pharmacist, and veterinarian.
I see the National Honors Society as a volunteering and discussion opportunity with other diligent students that brings out leadership and encourages service. The one thing I am looking forward to above all others if I am selected to this group is the great privilege it will be to surround myself with other enthusiastic students. Since NHS is a group of motivated individuals I think we really need to push the students who are accepted to achieve even more than they already are and I hope I can become a member that is able to bring together the student body in order to set and achieve greater more ambitious goals within Pioneer High School and the Ann Arbor Community.
The section I scored most in was kinesthetic intelligence and I was not surprised. People who got this can learn the best through hands on experiments and are always physically active. These people also have trouble sitting still and may become distracted easily. A few careers that are in this category are, athlete, physical education, and a physical therapist. I strongly agree with why I got kinesthetic as my highest scored. I am always physically active and I love to learn things if I can see it and touch it. I do tend to get distracted easily if I am just sitting and doing nothing. Being an athlete has always been my dream job so I agree with the careers that it gave me. A physical therapist has also been a career that I have been interested
I do like to work under a strong leader with set instructions. But, I always like to solve problems and search for answers. Lastly, throughout my life, I've have always been a helper and always found it personally rewarding to service anyone in need. These scores relate to your career goal because it confirms that my career path that I have chosen will be a good career path for me. The health care program management appeals to my social interest, because I am going to be providing a service to patience's and making sure that their information is in order. It appeals to my investigative interest because I will be solving any issues, technological or patient problems that could arise during the day. Lastly, it is attractive to my conventional interest because I will have a set schedule and a number of tasks to do in order to make sure the clinic is running
To begin with, discovering what types of employment maximize my personality let me know whether or not I am pursuing the right major. For instance, computer science and engineering were listed as two possible candidates. Although I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Sciences in Mathematics, all of these occupations are similar. Each of these professions requires diligence, accuracy, and analytic ability, which fully utilizes an
I am surprised that an online test can be so accurate, I think it did a really good job describing my work personality. I even liked all of the occupation suggestions that were given to me. The number one job on my top ten list is an Accountant, which is what my major is. I’m eager to learn more about accounting because it fits my results so well, I was clearly born to be an accountant. I also think accounting is interesting because there are so many different types of accounting and accountants and I’d like to learn more about them. So many people just picture it to be a boring desk job but it can be so much more than that. Another job that is listed that I’d be interested in learning more about is an auditor. I don’t know too much about it, but I know they deal with fraud and investigating and things of that nature. I’m a really nosey person and I would love doing that kind of stuff. However, maybe I am totally off about the kind of work they do. All in all, I’d really like to learn about a lot of different occupations that you can work with when you have an Accounting
Personal interests are what make me happy and want to grow as a person. Some of my interests include chemistry, physics, math, technology, and people. I enjoy chemistry because it brings material information into a form that can show what can react. It allows for creation of new materials that can be assessed for usability. Physics is another one of my interests because it shows how real-life problems can be solved and optimized using math. Math is an interest of mine because it can solve almost anything. There are many forms of math that get used in areas of science all the time. I am a technology lover because it makes tasks easier, and it also allows for so many improvements in
The purpose of selection of the Strong Interest Inventory is to determine the interest of the students. On the other hand, the purpose of Myers-Briggs is to ensure determination of the personality type as well as the career they would most likely decide to undertake. The instruments that I have selected may offer proper results when I carry out my analysis. For instance, Myer-Briggs ensures the provision of an in-depth personalized account of personality preferences. The Strong Interest Inventory, on the other hand, ensures that there is the generation of an in-depth evaluation of interests among an extensive range of occupations, job leisure activities, and educational subjects. This is always the case to facilitate helping of individuals in matching their interests. They can be educational interests, occupational interests as well as leisure pursuits that are entirely compatible with those particular
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up? Did you want to be the typical dreamer: a firefighter, a police officer, or an astronaut? Taking the interest survey Using O*Net assessment has helped me understand the occupations that I can be when I become an adult. The O*Net Interest Profiler can help you find out what your interests are and how they relate to the world of work. You can find out what you like to do. The process of doing the O*Net Interest Profiler helped me learn about my interest, learn about my possible career paths, and assisted me in preparing a business capstone project.
Based on the test result of Christoper, he scored “Mathematics or Science” the highest next is the “Social Science” and lastly, “Fine Arts”. This implies that Christoper’s interest lies on things that involve scientific based occupations like chemistry and engineering, it supports his answer in level 1 CII and his score in subject areas’ “Mathematics or science” area. Christoper has also a score of 32 in Social Science. This means that he has the knack for understanding people or they’re behavior. A person with an interest in this subject tends to wind up a counselor, psychologists or historian. Lastly, he scored 31 on Fine Arts. This outcome aligns what he answered on the level 1 CII when he wrote that he wants to be an artist and comic writer.
I don’t believe that I would enjoy being a radiologic technologist nor do I believe I would like being a phlebotomist. Both are in the medical field which does interest me so I feel like that is the reason those two were in my top picks for careers. The special agent is very interesting because I do feel like I would enjoy a career in that. That would be where my interest in investigating and solving problems would come into play so I do think that career choice is accurate even though that is not what I’m doing. The last one, mental-retardation aide, I feel like is very accurate. Obviously my heart is for people with disabilities and I have a love in being able to help them and see them succeed. So I definitely can see how that career choice would be on my top
