I cherish all of the places that I get to travel to and experience. Although, the summer vacation of 2014 really struck my attention when something very alarming happened. My mother, father, brother, two cousins (Cade and Callie), my uncle Al, aunt Kris, and I were all getting ready to board the subway train below the streets of Washington D.C. This was not my first ordeal with the putrid, murky railway; whereas it was my relatives first time. First, Cade and Drayton boarded the subway. Next, was Callie, and lastly, myself who all walked onto the subway. The doors began to close; warning us with a blaring beep, beep, beep!
Moments before entering the subway train…My family and I walked down the long stretch of the stairs, we heard a great deal of chatter. The air was murky and the lights were dim. Our fathers paid instantly at the available kiosk, and my family and I were on our way. The subway train came after waiting no more than five minutes. Before we, as a family (8 in total) boarded the subway train, we assisted a father with his child in a stroller to exit the train before the doors closed. Afterwards, my own family and I were super excited to finally get onto the metro train and then visit the monuments. Suddenly, we heard this bizarre beeping sound, let’s just say no one knew what it meant at the time. First, rushed Cade and Drayton. Next, Callie and I followed, hustling onto the subway. The doors closed; again, blaring a beep, beep, beep; just like it did before we
The train came to a screeching halt, as passengers went flying in all directions. Commuters were piled up on the cold, filthy ground. Smoke began to ascend up into the air, the slow heaves of blocked airways started to commence. I blinked. Disheveled, I slowly picked myself up. A loud ringing in the back of my head caught my attention. My sight was blurry, but I proceeded to stumble forward. The more I walked, the dizzier I felt. I sat on an overturned seat to my left and waited. Thinking to myself, What happened. The last thing I remembered, was listening to that annoying baby crying the whole trip. THE BABY! I’m up again, and this time I can hear a faint cry of help in the background. I use pieces of debris to navigate towards the noise.

I stood in the elevator , knees shaking . When my sister Charity blurted out she lost wifi, I lost it. So, without my phone I was scared hot and couldn’t think. When the elevator doors burst open I was the first person the bolt out the elevator. When I looked over the edge, what I saw was beautiful . The Rockefeller skate center glimmered in the moonlight.
This summer had to be the best summer I’ve had is two years. We had waited all year for this moment to come, summer. It was hot and humid, the pool waiting for someone to swim in. Just a few days and we’d finally see our favorite cousins. Waiting for my family at the airport, going to Wildwood boardwalk, and surfing at the beach were just some of the most exciting and rousing things that happened this summer.
As the perspiration beaded on my forehead and dripped down my face, the heat bounced back off the streets causing a tactical illusion that the temperature outside seemed to be increasing with each heartbeat. As my parents walked towards the what seemed to be the endless walkway, Myla and I followed. I could hear Myla pant as her tongue swung from side to side in effort to keep cool. “Are we there, yet?” I asked my parents with an agonizing tone. “We are!” they responded quickly. With those two words, my 10-year-old eyes, enlarged in order to catch a glimpse of what I had waited for all
I couldn’t help but to feel anxious and excited. It was my first time being in such a vast city and I couldn’t wait to explore it.
It 's the first day of spring break am I 'm already on the road. I don 't mind it though because I 'm going where I want to go this time. Just me and my cousin with all games galore. No parents to tell us to go outside or tell us that five cans of Mountain Dew and a dozen donuts is unhealthy. We meet at the mall parking lot. I grab my bags throw them in his car 's trunk and say adios to my parents. Our first stop Safeway. He turns the key of this rally car and it sputters to life. It grows with the sound of bad with a side of ass. We rev up and take off down the highway. We chit chat about new releases and downloadable content for Xbox games. Time flies when you 're having fun. By the time I could have said battlefield hardline we had
“Wow, what a beautiful sunset. “ everybody said excited looking at the sunset while being swallowed by the ocean. We were all sitting in the cold wet sand together enjoying the view as a whole family. “We made a great choice coming to the beach before the sun set” said my dad. We all agreed with him. After looking at the sunset we all went to go eat dinner at a Mexican restaurant because everybody was craving Mexican food. I ordered a burrito with steak and rice inside. My parents both ordered the same thing as always which was steak fajitas. My cousins also got a burrito but they got pulled pork burritos. And my brother and sister got flautas which are tacos but they come in a hard-shell tortilla. After we finished eating, we all headed to my cousin’s place to have a small welcome party because we didn’t have a welcome party the day the we got to California the day that we came. Later we all slept at their place because everybody was really tired and we didn’t want to go find a hotel to stay in so we stayed in my cousin’s place.
When I was about seven or eight I almost fell into a river. It was on summer vacations my family and I where in Mexico. That morning we had to go somewhere it was like an eight hour drive. My dad woke us up really early in the morning. I got up and changed and brushed my teeth. That morning my mom made me food I could smell it from upstairs. The food was delicious I finished it fast. After breakfast I watched TV with my brothers. My mom called my brothers over to where she was.I heard them laughing I went to check on them and saw them and they were on the cold floor. I didn’t even want to ask why they were on the floor I could still hear the tv in the background. I went into the kitchen to get juice. I grabbed the cold orange juice that was in the fridge. I poured myself into a clear yellow cup. I could taste the sweet juice go into my mouth. After my dad got home from go somewhere. We packed all of our stuff in the car.
The article, “Should children study in the summer holidays?” (Jackson, 2017) discusses the pros and cons of continuing a child’s education throughout their summer vacation. In favor of this idea was Vivien Stiles, a professional tutor for Kumon, who argued that studying over the summer would help children ease back into a full school year. Stiles continued to explain the program as a two day school week which teaches Mathematics and English. The average time it takes for each student to complete their homework for their class is between 15 and 90 minutes. Others, like Tanith Carey, fear that extending classroom education into the summer may overwhelm some young minds. She explained how her daughter felt so overwhelmed by her education experience she tried to deny an award she won because there was too much that surrounded the acceptance of that award. Once Carey realized how much stress the extra schooling during the summer was causing her daughter, she removed her from the tutoring program so she could play and experience a stress free childhood. Over years the results have been quite positive for Carey and her two daughters as they have both found passions in the arts and are leading healthy happy lives. She stresses the importance of learning not only in classrooms, but through nature, exploring, and experiencing the natural environment around them. According to Carey some parents are overlooking how much their children really learn when they are able to explore
Summer vacation. A time to relax, kick back, and sleep. Well, at least for most people. My summer vacation was packed. I ended up going to five states in a total of two weeks. Today, I want to tell you about my excursion down south with my dad’s side of the family. The trip was crazy, hectic, and full of a lot of driving; it was really fun at the same time. I hope my explanation of this trip will come close to the amount of joy this summer trip brought me.
My summer vacation i weant to mexico. I visited my dad’s side of the family in a city called Tepic. I had the time of my life going to the beach, playing soccer, and bonding with codeine. I rarely visit my mom's side of the family that live in michoacan because it is so dangerous their. My mother says there was often gunshots in the street as a kid. My grandpa and one of my uncles died from a gunshot to the head. She really don’t like to talk about it.
“The best things in life are the people we love and the places we’ve been…. And the memories we’ve made along the way.” by Unknown. The year of 2017 started off terrible, nothing was going right. A few months later something amazing happened, but only with help from God. My family found out we won a trip to Hawaii. My parents had to decide whether or not they should take us kids with. My parents talked it through, and they decided that it would be our last family vacation with just our family saying Chris is a senior and is headed off to college the next year and probably will find a girlfriend. Us kids were happy to go after everything bad that has happened to us. I know for sure Hawaii made me look at life a different way. Saying everything that just happened to my family.
It was the last day of my summer camp, the night before my Boy Scout troop would pack all their gear and leave the coast of the Puget Sound, and go back to the suburbia where most of the kids in the troop lived. The last day of summer camp, at least at Camp Parsons, was the Hullabaloo. The Hullabaloo was a great gathering of all the patrols, in a large grass covered area, bordering a beach and then the Puget Sound. The whole area was dotted with green trees, and was overlooked by a very large cabin-like building, which acted as the meal room for all the troops at camp. The cabin-like building was a dark brown, built on the outside with logs, but on the inside a sort of insulated faux-log. The inside was very spacious and lined up along the walls were about 50 long tables for the various troops at camp. Even in this large room, there wasn’t always enough space to fit the scouts from all the troops, so it was safe to say that my patrol had a lot of competition. All the patrols would compete for a trophy (a carved block of wood, painted yellow and with the purple letters CP stating: FIRST PLACE). Each troop usually has more than one patrol, each patrol being about 5-10 people, so my troop (of about 25 people) had two. When we were all let loose from the cabin-like meal house to compete in various team-building activities and compete in stations set around the camp (stations such as fire starting, knotting, and building shelters), my patrol started sprinting over the hills and
It was a long climb, probably the longest climb I have ever attempted, When I reached the top I felt that I would collapse any minute. My legs were numb, my clothes were all wet out of sweat and I was completely breathless. Even though I felt completely exhausted, the climb was well worth it. What I saw up there was a memorable and probably the most spectacular view I have ever seen. The wind blew at its strongest at the very top, pigeons were all over the place, and the Sun felt as if it's concentrating its light only at this very top. The view was the best part of it all, looking down at Rome from the very top of St. Peter's Basilica was and always will be a memory that I will never forget. It was this exact event
