My Mom-Mom used to tell us that if you want to make God laugh, you should tell Him your plans. I did not fully understand that when she said it but I absolutely do now. The last few weeks have been tumultuous for me to say the least. In the midst of my "going through" I have also experienced God in ways I don 't think I could ever fully describe. What I am learning is that even in the midst of going through it 's not hard to see God 's hand at work in your life. I am also learning that even in the midst of our challenges God is with us and for that we can be thankful. I can tell you that this time for me has not been without tears or frustration but here are a few things that I have learned along the way and hopefully it will help you. God is with you. As I note in my book, Trusting God, God is really with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. “You alone know when I sit down and when I get up. You read my thoughts from far away. You watch me when I travel and when I rest. You are familiar with all my ways. Even before there is a ⌊single⌋ word on my tongue, you know all about it, Lord. You are all around me—in front of me and in back of me. You lay your hand on me. ~ Psalm 139:2-5 God’s Word Translation. David declares in this Psalm that God is with us al l the time; He is familiar with our thoughts; He knows us. God has put in you everything you need for this test or trial. He put it in you before you even arrived at the station of your
The pasts few months have been a challenge, becoming a dad to my first child. Making a major move for my family and myself. Moving halfway across the country, starting a new career, and going to college too. There was so much worry and stress. I did not know if I would do good in my job or my schooling. My family and I made the decision to give it all to God. He
Good Morning Stephanie, Beautifully said :) I most admired the way your Psalm of choice connected with the suffering topic for the Book of Job. I don't believe you did that intentionally but it showed your true heart. Thanks so musch for being transparent because I believe many of us share that same struggle. Faith is a beautiful thing but it definiitely takes work. The 2nd Corinthians 10:5 tells us to cast down vain thoughts that try to exalt itself against the knowledge of God and bring every thought into the obedience of Christ. I believe this applies to when we struggle to talk to God and believe He hears us because the Bible says He hears us. Also, I agree with expalination of how the book of Job encourages us to reamin faithful
Some times the question of “Where is God” surfaces with all the adversities, and I find myself asking “what is God doing for all these people who are suffering?” But however amidst all the issues I know that He is there, and all these problems and conflicts do not change the fact that God exists, and I still have hope for change for these suffering people no matter what the circumstance.
At a point of true weakness we are at the greatest state of humility. When we reach this place we, as the clay, become the most moldable where God can truly use and shape us for his will.
No matter what the adversity may be, God wants you to know that He is sufficient, that He is enough, and that He can handle it if we allow Him too. Many times as Christians, we ask God to handle a problem or situation for us, but yet we don't allow Him to fully have control of that situation. All He is wanting us to acknowledge is that He
A lot of times people think that if we are good enough Christians that we would never go through tough times. It would be so wonderful if God would simply promise to us that we would never go through difficult times. Yet we know it’s just a part of it, it’s just a part of life. Psalm 23 does not say to us, “God will keep us from danger,“ but instead it describes that times will come, and they come for all of us, when we do feel like we are walking through a dark, dangerous valley -- a “valley of the shadow of death.” Perhaps even now in the grief we feel today feels like a dark valley… But what the Word of God does make very clear is that as we move through
An unknown author once said,” Keep your head up. God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.” I believe God has been giving me a lot of battles lately. One of my battles was on December the nineteenth, when I had gastric sleeve bypass surgery in Oxford, MS. A month passed, and I was doing wonderful. Then I had to go back in the hospital for gallbladder surgery. It has been almost eight months, and I have lost over eighty pounds. It has made me feel like a new person.
It gives me great joy and really encourages me to see your excitement in your walk with God! I rejoice and thank and praise God for his work in you! Keep abiding in Jesus, and letting his words abide in you. Keep seeking to have a deeper intimacy in your relationship with God. Thank him in the good times, and trust him in the hard times. Remember his faithfulness in times of uncertainty. God has been so faithful to you Elise. He has been faithful to you your whole life, and he will continue to be faithful to you for the rest of your life. He's a redeeming God. He's constantly redeeming the past. He's constantly redeeming. He never stops working for your good. He's making every wrong thing right. Romans 8:28 tells us this, and the cross shows us this. He's so faithful. He has, he is, and he will be, faithful. He's faithful in his work in us. Everyday he's working to make every wrong thing right, not only around us, but within us. Everyday He's making every wrong belief in our mind right. Everyday He's taking every lie we've ever believed and replacing it with truth. Everyday, He's working for our good and His glory. He is faithful in his redeeming work. He who began a good work within you, will continue his good work within you until it is finished and completed on the day when
Even when things are going badly in my life, my constant drive pushes me towards God, questioning why things are happening and looking to God to show me the way, granting me patience and guidance through an incredibly hard time. Thus, even in times of darkness, my relationship with God is strengthened. Furthermore, the mystery of faith excites me and I can use this to strengthen my spirituality with God by thinking about him.
I was on the phone last week with an individual who told me that he didn't understand why God kept testing him. He told me that he felt like God was trying to teach him something but he didn't know what or why. I once had someone tell me, in regards to God testing him, that he hoped God would remember that he was only a "C" student.
As I knelt down I began to pray to God about the things in my life that troubled me, well I can’t even say things because right now the main thing that troubled me more than anything was not any a thing but a person, my husband Paul. I prayed that God gave me the wisdom on how to deal and handle my current situation. I needed God to speak to my heart and mind about what was in His plan for me to do. Was I to stay with my husband or should I walk away? I needed answers more than anything. I prayed and cried on this Sunday morning and I could feel God taking this burden off my shoulders as He placed it on His.
is always with us. No matter how bad circumstances get, God will be beside us
He is always there no matter what we go through. As long as we believe, trust and look towards his direction, he will help us. Whenever you are in need of assistance, in any obstacle, look through the bible to find a verse to help you with what you are going through. If you are in desperate need of a sign from God, he will point you in the direction and speak his words through the bible. God has many ways to show that he is always there for you. I saw that he can speak through miracles, people, and through words, but its up to me to take in what he wants me to do and for me to use it in a positive
Everyone has their own unique beliefs and motives that push them through their lives. I have many different beliefs instilled in me that mold my day to day life. These beliefs have been formed either by learning from my parents, or by personal experiences. One major conviction of mine is the pursuit of happiness. There are many ways to strive for happiness, and all people are unique in the fact that no one shares the same goals. My happiness comes from a core of beliefs. Religion is an extremely important part of my life, and I can thank my mother and father for that. Another belief of mine is that hard work pays off; in many situations I have been shown that a good work ethic goes a long way in being successful. I also believe in being an optimist throughout life’s trials and tribulations. Many things can upset me in day to day experiences; however, I believe it to be crucial to obtain a joyous attitude. These beliefs have become priorities to me and carry me through my life, and help me to succeed.
