After I have completed my time monitoring worksheet I have notice that I need to manage my time properly to be more successful in college and life. I need to have a timetable at home where I write the days of the week and what I must be accomplishing hourly, for example as in the text stated chapter four page (68 ) There are twenty-four hours in a day, I must use my time wisely and set an alarm to remind you when it is time to start studying, cleaning, cook and other important chores. However, when I evaluate how I spend my time throughout the day, I wasted a lot of time where I could be reading my notes or studying. For example in the mornings when I am heading to work I ride the bus, therefore, a schedule could be reading my notes, likewise
I noticed that I spent more time than I had originally realized during my free time and also spent a larger amount of time on coursework. Since regularly I do have work to consider, I have realized that I needed to make some changes based upon those three days. My first change is that given that with work considered my free time is roughly about 3 on a shorter day, I decided to dedicate a portion of that time towards reading so that I can read a
In order for me to be successful in my graduate studies at GCU, I need to take time management into serious consideration. This time monitoring worksheet exercise and the time management webinar has given me more insight into how to wisely manage my time on a daily basis in order to be more productive with my school work.
Conducting a time analysis was a pretty eye opening experience for me. I analyzed my time from Saturday 6/15 through Friday 6/21. As a family man, the fact that I spend a great deal of my time, over half, during the course of a week working and sleeping is somewhat unsettling (see Figure 1 – Weekly Time Analysis). I spend an average of 55 hours per week working, a minimum of 11 hours each day, 5 days a week. I slept approximately 5-6 hours per night, a total of 40 hours for the week. The combination of the two is about 56.5% of my week’s time. Studying took up around 20 hours or approximately 12 %. I spent 7 hours in my car during the week, which was to and from work for the most part.
In the novel The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom the characters have consequences that change their perspective on life. Dor, Victor, and Sarah go through trials to to lead them in the right direction.
Completing the time monitoring worksheet was eye opening for me. I can clearly see that I work long hours which is what consumes the majority of my time. In my opinion this worksheet is an indication that I am currently working much longer work weeks than I should be. In my current position we are in the middle of a merger/ acquisition and my days have been and are usually filled with meetings. I also work from home in a virtual position so I tend to receive and send a lot of emails. It can be very time consuming for me to try to get caught up on emails when I am in back to back meetings. Typically, I spend my later work hours trying to get caught up on emails and unfinished tasks. Looking back at the time monitoring worksheet it is easy to
Time management is essential in earning our education as adult learners. I know that with life we have many obstacles that can arise at any given moment. “Time management can be a common problem for any student. But throw work, children and social activities in the mix, and the web of daily responsibilities becomes even more intricately woven.” (Rasmussen College, 6 Time Management Tips for College Students, 2014) I plan on setting aside at least a couple of hours each day in order to read my assignment and make a plan as how to finish my work on time. I understand that at times I may not be able to do this, but this is my goal. As discussed in the the “Successful study strategies for non-traditional adult learners” (Columbia College) it
I have made a schedule which gives specific times each week night as to when I am going to complete graduate school work. Each morning I scheduled 30 minutes of reading and after work I have scheduled at least 2 hours each night to complete assignments and read. I must follow the schedule I have made, without any distractions. Distractions are also must be combated in order to follow my time management

In college, a correct time management is excessively important for success. It is very imperative to know what needs to be prioritize in our schedules and take strict decisions in our agenda. This chapter presents different scheduling tools that help avoid stress and procrastination . My favorite one is the phone calendar, since I always have my mobile with me. The phone calendar allows me to check at any time of the day all the tasks that need to be done, keep track of my progress and get notifications of due dates and events. Even though I have now more time than when I used to in High School; a proper organization and balance of my time in college is essential to become an excellent professional.
There are three time management strategies that can help students be successful college. To start, use the monthly calendar to keep track of schedules such as dates and time of what is needed to be done monthly. By planning in month long blocks, they can keep an insightful big picture on their tasks and schedules. A monthly calendar is great for overviews of deadlines, appointments, and other things that are coming up in the future. Also, it is a great idea for students to plan ahead and jot down courses they need to take for next semester. Secondly, a weekly calendar is the most user friendly, which students can record all their obligations during a typical week. It allows students to view the week’s activities and see how all the pieces of
It’s not possible to control time, but we can manage the time we’re given. Time management is the ability to plan and control how we spend the hours in our day to effectively accomplish our goals. For college students, especially freshmen who may be left on their own for the first time, or the adult learner, who has additional family and work requirements to juggle, good time management is a necessity. Studies cite poor time management as a major contributor of college dropout rates, and without a good time management skill set, productivity can falter, job opportunities can be lost, or as those in college know, grades can suffer. Proper time management helps us achieve our goals, whether they be job, grade, or life related, and without this skill set, it’s impossible to juggle classroom, homework, family, and leisure time, due not to the ability of one to learn, but the ability of one to properly budget their time. Those most at risk are college freshmen and the adult learner.
Successful college students ensure they know how to manage their time. Establish some priorities, make a list. Some things are not as essential as others. Some of these things can be delegate or moved to the side. Taking the time to develop a plan in order to avoid procrastination. Finding a way to identify the amount of time needed to study and complete course work lets you identify any way time could be misused and could cause delays in your study sessions.
Managing my time was difficult on my first day as a freshman at San Jacinto College. Importantly, I needed to manage my time. Being a freshman student can be hard, because when I was a new student, time management was one of the challenges that I had when I started college was managing the time and stress.
Time Time is defined as a measured or measurable period, a continuum that lacks spatial dimensions. This broad definition lacks the simple explanation that humans are searching for. There are many scientists, philosophers, and thinkers who have tried to put time into understanding terms. The aspects of time that we can understand are only based on what we can perceive, observe, and calculate. Every day we look at our watches or clocks.
