The Florida Keys celebrates a diverse and colorful history that is full of adventurous tales of Native American Indians, Spanish, pirates, hurricanes, and shipwrecks. Offering the only living coral barrier reef in the U.S, this island archipelago lies along the Florida Strait stretching 200 miles from Biscayrie Bay to the Dry Tortugas. Before Spaniard Ponce De Leon’s expedition in 1573, the Florida Keys was home to Native American Tribes, Calusa and Tequesta. The Spanish named these islands Los Martires (the martyrs) and rightfully so, since many ships were wrecked on the reef during early times. However, the name was once again changed by the Spanish to “Keys” from the Spanish word “cayos” meaning “Small Island.” Subsequently, the official name Florida Keys was adopted.

One summer day in July , Me and my friend Carol went to an amusement park called Cedar Point . Cedar Point is located in Sandusky , Ohio and two and a half hours away . My mom and me wanted to go on a ride called the Maverick . The Maverick is Cedar Point’s steepest roller coaster and its speed is 70 miles per hour . The Maverick also has a 95 degree drop ! Then we went in line and waited for about an hour and a half . It was about eleven o'clock when we got close to the front of the line . When we finally got to the roller coaster I regretted going on because it was very dark and I couldn't see where the drop was and I don’t like steep roller coasters . The Florida Project is a film about a family living in a motel and how financial hardship affects the children of this film. The family I choose to support is Moonie’s mother, Hailey. Within the film, Hailey is unemployed and having a challenging time finding a job which caused her to lose the assistance she received from welfare. Hailey turns selling discounted items on the streets and to prostitution as her main source of income. To try and support this family, I would offer Hailey a job at my uncle’s restaurant, which will allow her not to use prostitution as a source of income.

There were thoughts of actually dying and that gave me a strong excitement. The ride had begun it was slowly going up at first I could see myself getting higher and watch my mom wave at me. All of a sudden the ride had stopped. It was about to get much faster and at that exact moment my mind went blank. The ride had started going up instantaneously as I started to yell at the top of my lungs. I was faced toward the theme park as I went higher I felt butterflies squeeze my stomach. Once I reached the top the ride it stopped moving. The whole theme park was so small from the top of the ride I was surprised to realize that my mom looked like an ant. The rays of the sun were flashing into my face but I was feeling fantastic. Suddenly, there was a sound of gas release and boom the ride started to go down and things started to get bigger again.

I was standing in line with my sister and cousin waiting to get on the “Viper”. We were at Six Flags having already been in the long line an hour and a half. We all went on our favorite rides, then we decided to go on the roller-coaster. This was going to be my very first ever roller-coaster in my life. Then the roller coaster conductor told us to get on the coaster. I jumped in, put my seatbelt on and listened to the safety precautions. Then the conductor pressed the button and we were off.

I was always scared of roller coasters, something about them made me feel weird inside. I would go to Great America with my friends and wait outside the rides that were scary for me. I never really thought about getting on any rides that dropped at the speed of lightning and loops that make your stomach flip upside down twenty times. I would just sit down and watch the rides as they dropped. That was until one day, my friend told me “Close your eyes I’m taking you to somewhere that’s fun.” I didn’t know what she meant by that but I did what she told me to do. She also covered one of my ears I didn’t know why. “Open your eyes Steven.” I did and at that moment my mouth dropped. I tried running from the line but it was too late. When I went to the state0fair my friend called me and told me to hangout with her sister maddie and her boyfriend colin. We rode a roller coaster and I almost saw God. Then, my family and I went to Hershey Park as a birthday gift for me. At the entrance, I saw an enormous light blue and bright yellow water slide that almost looked like half of a tornado. It was a really hot day, the temperature was almost 87 degrees.We walked over to the water section, and I was amazed how big it was, It was like a pool with water slides for gods. My brother told me right away, “We must go on that slide,” and that was the moment I knew I would go on that gigantic water slide, I was relieved because I desperately needed a something to refresh myself, and I was scared. When I was waiting in-line I went up so many stairs, which took a while.
