I am lucky enough to say that my dad took me to Amsterdam. I was seventeen at the time and a junior in high school. To a seventeen year-old, Amsterdam is known as the party capital of the world, or the Las Vegas a Europe (minus the billionaire casinos). In other words, Amsterdam is known as the place to go if you want to “party, party, party,” with the minimal fear of consequences. Amsterdam is a city on water in the Netherlands. There, the consumption of marijuana is legal as long as the person consuming it is at least eighteen. The drinking age for beer is sixteen, for liquor is eighteen, and to buy tobacco there, the person has to be at least sixteen. Prostitution is also legal there, which the Red Light District is quite famous for. …show more content…
They are establishments created for buying and smoking pot. After stepping through the door with a large and bold “eighteen years and older only” sign, I saw a counter with a rather extensive list of pot names and matching prices. Even though I was seventeen, I disregarded the sign I saw on the door. I don’t think anyone there cared anyway. Behind the counter were couches with short tables in front of them. We sat at a couch and thirty minutes and a few tries, we managed to roll up a marijuana cigarette from the weed we had just purchased. This was epic to me. Hawaiian Haze is what our pot was called. It had a citrus, skunk-like odor and was lime green buds dressed with millions of tiny luminescent crystals. We smoked the Hawaiian Haze marijuana cigarette and both agreed that its potency was insane. I felt as if I was in another world and everything was slightly humorous. I wasn’t used to this feeling but it was fun and interesting to me. I spent my time the first day at various coffee shops, meeting new people and striking up conversations at any opportune moment. Luckily for me, English is a well known language there. My second night there, I visited a sports bar whom the owner of my hotel also owned. It was quite nice and had numerous, comfortable couches and multiple large flat-screen televisions displaying soccer. There was also darts, slot machines, pool tables, and even computer with free internet access. I drank a couple of Amstel beers while I was
A place where theaters, museums, and attractions fill the road, but also a place where there is some of the most amazing scenery, and fantastic hiking. We pulled into the hotel and spent the rest o the day unpacking and exploring the hotel activities, including shuffleboard, swimming (both inside and outside), water volleyball, and a variety of tabletop games. We played around for a little bit, then headed back to the room.

Arriving in a new country was exciting and discomforting. America is a wonderful place to live, which is full of adventure and challenges. I was attracted by the Western culture. Meanwhile, different languages also troubled me. Although I began to learn English in elementary school from ABC, my listening and oral abilities tend not to be adequate. I have to study hard to improve my English, so that I can understand what the people said.
The most memorable trip my family has ever taken would be our trip to Disney World. My family and I have went to Disney three times, each time we have went I've had the best time of my life. Nothing could make me feel the way going to Disney with my family does. At Disney I have made memories that will last a lifetime. From the memories on the drive down to Florida to the memories we make while we are there. I remember the very first time I went, you can ride a ferry boat to get to Disney. We decided to ride over on the ferry instead of the monorail, just riding on the ferry was a different, and great experience from the rest.
I’ve always thought of myself as a person who has a interesting background and childhood. My childhood would consist of fails, near death experiences, and anything crazy or out of the ordinary from other people’s childhoods. Most of my days would consist of going to school, seeing something amazing or crazy, go home, and do homework. Occasionally, I would go to the park where i would explore new places or just walk around and try to make new friends. Most of the time, I would just explore my surroundings and enjoy nature as much as I can. Whenever I would go to El Salvador, I would walk around in big forest and enjoy how fresh the air is. The air over in the countryside is pure and makes you feel at peace due how low the co2 levels are in
Marijuana is so popular and used all over this society, marijuana has been restricted ("Medical marijuana for pain and depression"). There are 20 states including Washington D.C. that has made medical marijuana legal. Eighteen states required proof of residency to be prescribed for medical marijuana. A patient can get so much medical marijuana as long they have a medical card. In order to receive a medical card, you have to a condition that requires having this therapeutic substance. Amsterdam is a place you can go to get marijuana without getting prescribed. Amsterdam has coffee shops that a person can purchase marijuana and also have variety of marijuana.
In reality, marijuana has the effect of slightly increasing alpha-wave activity in your brain. Alpha waves are generally associated with meditative and relaxed states, which are, in turn, often associated with human creativity
My first trip to Disney World, now that, that was a memorable trip. That trip was one of the most magical and happiest memories of my life. It was back in 2008, I had just turned 6 years old a few months before we left to go there. It was summertime, and the weather was perfect. I remember being so bored on the way there because I am an only child so I didn’t have anyone to entertain me besides myself. My mom’s side of the family went on this trip with us, and at the time I was the only grandkid, and the only kid at all. So once we finally were almost there I remember passing the big ‘Welcome to Disney World” sign and being so excited I peed my pants--my mom was pretty mad, but my dad thought it was kinda funny so I didn’t get in too much trouble.
Holland was the forerunner in the field and we see that the authorities are increasingly limiting the use and sale of marijuana.
I had to use English all day, and understand everything in English. How difficult for me, who speak Chinese 18 years, to use a totally different language to live in a strange country. Although I’ve never had a communication in English before I came there, I tried to speak with my classmate using my terrible English. I did not give up practicing English. After 11 months to studying English, I entered Santa Barbara City College.
On January 1st the states of Colorado and Washington officially began the regulation of legal marijuana sales. Thousands of people from all over the country including tourists from Wisconsin, Ohio, Chicago, and even Georgia lined up out front of dispensaries to make a purchase. Recreational marijuana is being regulated and monitored like alcohol; you must be at least 21 years old to make a purchase. The drug, which is controversial in many states’ legislations, is currently legal for medical use in 20 states, but Colorado and Washington were the first to approve of recreational use (Healy). The geographical concepts involved in the legalization of marijuana include migration, movement and flow, and private/public space.
It wasn’t easy as I have thought. At first, I had to learn to speak English like the people speak here. When I tried to explain something to them or ask for help, they couldn’t understand me as my English was poor. I started to read small story books so that I could speak fluent English. As the time passed, I was able to improve my English language. Even though I had improved a lot, I still had a huge accent that made the conversation harder, and I had to get rid of it. I did my best to improve myself so that I wouldn’t have problems later in my upcoming days. By this time, I knew where my classes were, when I should reach my classes and how to study so that I could achieve the goals that I had set for
When I came to America, the first thing I started was going to the place where I can learn English. It is very important for me to learn this language because I came from a country where people speak Arabic, and this is their official language. In America, people speak English, so I have to learn English. When I go to the market or go to the hospital or anywhere else, I have to talk in English. The first place I went to learn English was Della Lamb. I was worried at first because I could not speak English and because this place is new to me. When I went to Della Lamb, the receptionists were nice and lovely, and I needed a translator. Then a translator came to me and translated everything I needed on this day. I started going to class with the
possession, and limited home-growing installations of marijuana legal for adults of age 21 and older,
Recreational Marijuana is legal in eight states. In Alaska, adults 21 and over can light it up. California, which legalized medical pot in 1996, became even more friendly with the drug in 2016 when it made it legal to use and carry up to an ounce of Marijuana.
