It was the summer of 2015, and I woke up early for my two-week vacation to Costa Rica. It was weird being up this early on summer break, but it was worth it. I made sure my bag was ready to go and that I packed everything. I brushed my teeth took a shower, and put my sweatshirt and pants on. From experience, I knew that the airport temperature would be cold so I wanted to feel warm. I came downstairs and arrived in front of a plate of pancakes. When I was half way done my sister finally came downstairs. My dad entered the kitchen, and he got a little worried he said, “If we don’t hurry we could miss our plane”! From the 4 years of traveling on a plane, we always were on time and nothing bad ever happened, this might be the time. My family rushed to the car, and we all started freaking out and my whole family was yelling and shouting. Everyone that passed us were looking at us like crazy. We finally reached the airport and lugged our bags through the whole airport trying to make our flight. My aunt called my mom wondering where we were. My mom said, “We aren’t going to make it. Just leave without us”, then, my aunt asked what happened and what we were going to do. My mom didn’t have all the answers, but I knew we were going to figure it out as a family like we always do. The next thing my family did was call the other two families because they were going on later flights. So, my friends dad from the other family gave us the information about their flight and gate number and my dad explained the situation to the airport staff and they sorted out everything and the next thing I knew we got 4 tickets to Costa Rica. I looked at my phone the flight was at 6:45 and it was 3:00, my family obviously didn’t want to go back home so we checked in and did all the other airport procedures. We were all so tired, right when we got situated we fell asleep. Two hours later the family called us and it was them and their cousins, they met us at the gate and we all explained what happened and we just lucky not everyone went to Costa Rica together and we had some company on the way there. Once we were all set we looked around to see where we could eat dinner, everyone was so hungry but, we didn’t want to eat a lot. Whenever I
It was a nice summer morning we I was all of a suden shoke like turbulence on a plane to wake up. It turns out I slept threw my alarm to wake up for the day. It was about 11:00 am and today we were heading to Florida and our flight takes off at 1:00 pm. You may think that we had time to make the airport in Milwaukee but, we had to drive all the way to Chicago, Illinois because there was no flight for Florida in Milwaukee. Luckily I had packed the day before with the rest of my family so all we had to do was wait for our aunt Lisa to take us to the aiport in Chicago. She showed up five minutes later with a mini van and there was about seven of us jammed in there. It was alright for me because in our family if you called “shot-gun” or “I
And the air pilot told us that the airplane will be taking off soon I was a little scared because I never been on an airplane before. Right after she said that the airplane was already starting to move the next thing I knew the airplane was in the air. It wasn’t scary at all it was actually pretty fun. Then the air pilots were walking through every ille with a cart and asking every passenger if the wanted anything to drink or if we wanted cookies or peanuts. I chose the cookies they were really good. A few hours past and we arrived at the airport. Once we got off of the airplane our aunt picked us all up but we got separated because we wouldn’t all fit in one
On November 26,2014 I traveled with my sister and cousin to Columbus,Ohio for Thanksgiving. My day started out when I woke up very early in the morning. I went to the airport with my family to wait for our flight . My dad bought us breakfast to eat while we were waiting for our flight.Surprisingly we didn’t have to wait for a long time.We got right on the plane and the trip on the plane was really fun and fast because I played games on my phone .After one hour some minutes my family and I arrived in Ohio and my uncle and aunt picked us up from the airport and my
Getting on our plane was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to, especially since my dad couldn’t come with us that day. December 8, 2010 was the day my family decided that moving to America would give me and my brother many more opportunities, keep in mind my parents hadn’t told us that we were moving to the US. I remember I had been hugging my dad saying goodbye to him and my mom had to come and grab me away from him. His face was through the window was the last thing I remember seeing before buckling my seat belt and laying down on my mother’s shoulder. Once we had landed my mother woke me up and said to me that I should help out with the luggage and the other belongings we had to take. The night went by probably faster than
It was the 11th, the day that we arrived. My dad and my sister had already made it, and it was really late. My flight landed, and so had 16 others. We off of the flight, and headed straight for immigration. Last time we came, immigration took 5 minutes, but this time, it took 45! After the long immigration process, we went to the baggage belt, where we couldn’t find our bags. While we were walking to go and file a complaint, we found one of our bags off of the baggage belt. Others took our bags off of the belt, so we went around the belt to find the bags. After we found the bags, we headed out of the airport. It was 4 am, and as soon as we got home, we went to sleep. We got up at about nine and got ready to go to my aunt and uncle’s 25th anniversary
My spring brek went wonderfull because I went to visit my cusins and the rest of my family in mexico for the first time in years since wen I was in fift grade. In mexico I played around with my cosins and family and went to the plaza of the town. The plaine ride was a little bumpy at liftoff and my parents had my earphones so I was stuck doing nothing in silence for 5 hours. After landing my legs fell assleep so I was screwed when I was geting off the plane onto the airport. When we made it to the entrance of the airport or exit we were sorounded by basically a lot of other people trying to pick up their family members . When my unckle picked us up and we made it to my granmas house, I started playing almost immediately with my cosins and had
After everyone got ready to go, we got our bags and headed down stairs to check out of our rooms. All of that was finished it was time for us to go to Cancun, we all loaded up into a "shuttle" they called it and drove to the airport. It was about a twenty minute drive. When we got to the airport we unloaded all of our things from the "shuttle," and headed into the airport. When we got inside the airport we went over to baggage check, and they scanned our passports, weighed our bags, and then sent them off to be loaded into the plane. Once we got all done with that we made our way to security, and they checked out carry on's and out electronics. After we finished with security we then walked over to where all the stores and food places were located. Me, my mom, and my brother had an omelet for breakfast it was pretty good for airport food. After everything was finished we then went over to the place where we sit and wait until we board the plane. We waited for about ten minutes, and then Me, My grandma, My cousin Sean, and my grandpa pre boarded so we could save seats for all fourteen of us. Everyone had finally boarded the plane and after about twenty minutes of waiting, the plane then took off and we were on our way to Cancun, Mexico. A three and a half hour flight felt like forever, we went over New Orleans, St.Louis, and for about an hour and thirty
To start off our day we all went to work and said our goodbyes to the people we know, work with, and talk to. After, we needed to go say bye to the people that we know around our home and tell them that we are immigrating to America, then we told them all the good things that America had to offer. By the time that was all over it was almost time to go to bed. Finally the last thing that we did was hope and pray that everything that was going to happen the next day, would work out well and have no problems immigrating to America. My parents and I went to bed a much earlier than normal because we knew that we had a big day ahead or ourselves. In the morning my mother woke me up at around six O’Clock and told me to get ready to leave for a long journey. At around six-thirty we left to head for the boats. When we arrived to the boats we stood there for a few moments just realizing how many people were going to America. Then, they walked up to a boat a got on. On the boat there was an instructor telling us to head to the lower part of the boat, when we got down there, it wasn’t just us riding this boat to America, it was a couple hundred people down there immigrating to America. So we sat down, on the floor like everyone else because there were no seats. During our trip to America, on the boat in the lower deck was so foul-smelling, due to how many
We moved through security briskly. I had never flown before and now I was going to do my first trip solo, across an entire ocean. I clung to the lanyard that had my ticket and passport tucked in safely. My mom bought me a sandwich and bottled water from the Sub Shop. We sat at the gate for hours. It wasn't until the lady came over the speaker, squawking "We're ready to board Continental Flight 5478 non-stop service to Heathrow in London, England". Instinctively my hand reached out to grab for my moms, and she grabbed back. I was the first to board the plane; I guess they didn't want me to change my mind. I hugged my mom for a long time before the flight attendant that was to take me onto the plane coughed a little disrupting our moment. My mom whispered into my hair, "Be safe. I love
Before we left, we said “goodbye” again to our family and left. As my mom drove, I was getting sleepy, but my mom told me that I should stay awake just in case. We later got to the hospital, where we got confused where to go, but eventually found out where the entrance was. We all got out of the car and headed towards the automatic doors, but when I walked in, it was pretty barren and cold. My mom headed to the counter to check us in while my siblings and I sat down. The kind lady working behind the counter gave my mom, sister, and I a yellow wristband, and told us to sit
In one of ours s trips to Colombia, we were going from Louisville to Bogota with scale in Huston, TX. In Huston, We took our next plane, and when we were in the middle of the trip a lady who was drunk tried to open the plane door, it was considered a crime against all the passengers, and our flight had to turn back to Huston. Back in Huston airport the police was waiting, they came into the plane and arrested this lady. We though we were going back to our trip right away, but the plane have had the flight hours it was authorized to do, so we had to stay in Huston until the next day. The airline provided us whit hotel, food and transportation. The next day we were ready to take our plane but for bad weather we had to wait 3 more hours, finally the plane was authorized to left Huston. We were on the air for about 1 hour when the storm got us. The big plane with 300 passengers was like a leaf in the wind, the alarms went off, oxygen mask felt down, the seat belts were not strong enough to keep us in our seats, we were going up and down, shoes, wallets, purses, suit cases, and even a baby were flight everywhere inside of the plane. Everybody was yelling out, crying, and praying. I saw all that happening around us in slow motion, but everything was happening so fast. My kids and me, we yelling for help, and crying, holding each other hands, this was going on, and on for about 15 min, the plain structure was crashing and making all kind of noises, we were so scared. In some point I understood that nobody was going to be able and help us, we were 30,000 feet above the land, in that moment the reality of our situation hit me, I was terrified, and freeze up. For some time while I was freeze up, scenes of my life passed in front of my eyes, my parents, brothers, and family, moments I had live, different situations, memories with my kids, with friends, happy days, all that in a flash of emotions, and images. After that moment I realized we were going to die, it was
Almost four years ago, my church provided me with the amazing chance to fly to Oaxaca City, Mexico to assist a local missionary with taking care of the community. During our trip, we participated in activities with missionaries such as fence building, a Jesus film, spreading out tracks, Vacation Bible School, and visiting the Zapotec Ruins on Monte Albán. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the day arrived for our departure to Mexico. My dad, my sister and myself along with the other members of our team boarded a small little plane bound for Oaxaca City, Mexico. Prior to my first ever takeoff, I sat excited and a nervous wreck by the window of the plane. Once we started taxiing down the runway, I calmed myself down.
I sat in the airport boarding area hyperventilating. My father looked over at me from his seat, more annoyed than concerned. He knew that I didn't want to travel, yet he made it clear that I, being 14 years old, had no choice in the matter. We were going to visit my grandparents in Puerto Rico. They hadn't seen me in years and had been asking for a visit for some time. I was told it would be a time to reconnect with my dad's side of the family, enjoy the country air and the beaches. Oh, and there was this one other thing. I wasn't supposed to let anyone know that my mother had died a year and a half ago. You see, my father hadn't found the right way to tell them that their ex-daughter in law had succumbed to cancer after a two year battle
My grandpa told me to be safe and his mustache tickled as he kissed my cheek. I hugged and kissed my grandma then walked to the line. A sign and security employee directed me to place my backpack on a x-ray conveyor then walk through the gate. On the other side was my escort who would take me to the plane. She brought me to the plane and I boarded before the other passengers. I relaxed until the first passengers arrived. I quietly listened to their conversations and waited for the passengers who would sit next to me in the center isle. The doors were shut and still my row was empty except for me.
Going on vacation is supposed to a relaxing, stress-free experience, especially during a long weekend when a monday away from school can be an indispensable time to relax and enjoy a break from the grind of AP classes and 40-minute prompts. Therefore, my family and I decided it would be great to spend the long Columbus day weekend in New Hampshire with my grandparents and cousins. My family has made this voyage probably over a hundred times in the 17 years I’ve been alive, enjoying weekends and school breaks with the rest of my family.
