While the importance of my values and ethical behaviors is not a new facet of my professional life, as I emerge in the field of Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychology the weight of ethical responsibility has heightened. According to Lefkowitz (2005), ethics are moral principles that govern a person 's or group 's behavior. Hence, after reviewing the American Psychological Association (APA) Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct (2010) and the role ethics play in the field of I/O Psychology I this assignment presents a synopsis of the evolution and my influential experiences role of professional values, biases, and ethics. The foundation of my values is my Christian upbringing and my strong family values for the importance of demonstrating love, self-respect, honesty, benevolence, and respect for all people. Thus, as I maturated through my life, professional career and professional studies, these values have been influencing factors for the development of core principles that have influenced my workplace behaviors and decision-making. Thus, among the some of the principle themes that I subscribe to includes knowledge, respect for others, commitment, teamwork, diversity and inclusion, and efficiency.

Lefkowitz (2003) describes a profession as people who “…organized around a systematic theoretical body of knowledge.” Identifying a profession to associate myself with was influenced by my early interest in helping people in a business environment. This
