My Worldview: Growing Up As A Christain

Dr. Glenn Marin’s, Prevailing Worldviews of Western Society since 1500, contains principle views that have existed within the Western world since the sixteenth century and are explored throughout the text. This work was written as a way to perform sufficient research of the various worldviews by taking into account the various individual worldview’s particular answer to some of the most basic philosophical questions. In order to understand the text and the opinions offered, a worldview should be defined. From what I know, Planet Earth consists of seven continents. Collectively, those seven continents are home to approximately seven billion humans. And each human has their own unique worldview. Defined as, the bias or presumption a person holds as a result of the environment, culture, or faith they live in, worldview influences how everyone responds to life’s pertinent questions. (A Christian Worldview?) Throughout this paper, I intend to give a description of my own worldview, answering what I believe about God, creation, humankind, epistemology, and ethics. Whilst comparing my worldview to that of O. Henry's illustrated in the short story "The Ransom of Red Chief".

“Where there is no guidance the people fall, but in abundance of counselors there is victory” Proverbs 11:14 (Dake’s Annontated Reference Bible). God is the greatest leader of all times and through his guidance we have learned and developed our values and beliefs based on his teachings so that we understand right from wrong. These beliefs and values, we have developed is what we base our assumptions and expectations about others and how they should act. We use these VABES in our personal life as well as our professional life every day. This paper will elaborate on what VABES are, how they affect stages of decision-making, and how they relate to the Christian worldview.

Most define worldview as a foundational set of assumptions that will shape the understanding of individuals and how they internalize information and give a natural response. They are absolutely correct. Worldviews have evolved throughout the world. Instead of just one worldview it has taken a new phase of life and migrated in various places. Worldviews are what makes the world spin. According to the book “ introduction to global mission”, every culture or ethnic group holds a unique worldview, which refers to the way they view their reality”. Initially worldview is diverse in content and complex on a functional level.

Our worldviews is how we see the world.”(What Is Worldview?) It is how we view everything around us, our family, culture, religion, morals, friends, others and ourselves. Worldview is how we understand life. Some see life in a positive way, negative way, with God, and without God. The possibilities of worldviews is infinite. No one has the same worldview as any other. We may have similar ideas and lifestyles we follow such as Christianity, Islam, Atheism, Deism, but we all have our own opinions on those subjects to. Is there a right worldview to follow? Well, I would say yes and no. We all should have a worldview of God and Jesus Christ in the picture, but it is okay to think differently and be different as long as our thoughts reflect of

My personal Christian worldview is full of heavy doses of God, and plenty of drizzles of the Bible, and it was born from a combination of how I was raised, my life experiences, and my assumptions. This worldview is heavily involved as I bring up my children to love God, and do my best to be a good wife to my husband. Most of all, this combination has filled my heart and soul with the conclusion that God is my all!

Freshman year I was shy and never really stepped out of my comfort space. I thought I was prepared for high school. I signed up for two honors class thinking that they would be hard but I knew I could figure them out. Reality was quickly thrown into my face.

Having a Christian worldview should not limit me from having a normal conversation or even engage with someone who differs from my beliefs. The very idea irritates me for I have encountered closed-minded people who will only speak and interact with who ever relates to their idealism, perhaps, a close-minded one. Further, when it comes to the future and type of work I would like to do, I would want for God to open doors in places where there is people that do not have a relationship with Him, no matter how bad it is. Perhaps, consequently my relationship and testimony would ignite a desire to have a relationship with God.

What do you see when you visit a city for the first time, or look at a movie or, what do you hear when you listen to the news or read a book? The answers to these questions depend on your worldview. So, what is a worldview? A worldview is described as “the framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world.” David Noebel, author of Understanding the Times said, “A worldview is any ideology, philosophy, theology, movement or religion that provides an overarching approach to understanding God, the world and man 's relations to God and the world," Your worldview is like a set of lenses through which you view the world. Over the years my worldview has evolved from as a by product of cultural influence, to one steeped in my belief of God. However, until I got married 4 years ago, I had never actively worked on developing my Christian theistic worldview. Brown, Phillips and Stonestreet (2008) described a persons’ worldview as the framework that guides our beliefs and viewpoints (p. 21). With this in mind, I have established 3 main tenants of my worldview, God is, the universe was and morality will be. These are the foundations for the way I live, move and express my being in this world.

Individuals in different cultural groups experience the world in different ways based on various perspectives. Basically, they have diverse worldviews. The multiple concepts of worldview are important to understand; however, it is also crucial to that I am able to establish my own worldview through my past childhood experiences. I will able to construct my own unique worldview through the concept of roles, emotional expressions, interdependence/individuation, power, communication, subsystems, family rules, family myths, and family rituals.

My journey on to my Christian faith began when I was born so I basically didn’t feel. I had a choice not to be a Christian but I never asked why am I a Christian because I felt as though being a child of god was the right way to go I felt as though that god would always be here for not just me but with everyone that needed him. My journey to Christ probably would have to be in the miracles that he have brought me through and I have seen. A long time ago my uncle basically overdosed and the doctors said that he was brain dead and that we should just cut the cord. I will never forget the hospital room filled with the people from my church praying out loud. As I was sitting in there I could feel the spiritual energy. It felt like my skin was crawling with adrenaline. The doctors took us back there to see him and when I saw him I was honestly scared I didn’t think he was going make it but he made it my mother told me when she went back there she saw a angel over him and she said that his wings filled the room. After that day my uncle began to get better when he got home he didn’t have any memory of any sort he had to start completely over we had to help him step by step. And now today my
