Looking back in this class, I have realized just how much my writing has improved since the beginning
of the quarter and that first assignment. I went from being a writer that was not confident in his
work and over-thought everything into someone who found his own writing style, and can quickly and
effectively write an essay (of course revising it as well). So I would like to express my deep thanks to
our best instructor Kim Trinh who helped us a lot.
The three essays that I wrote for this class really challenged me to improve my writing.
Outcome 2 deals with being able to "Analyze, respond to, and document a variety of complex written
and visual texts.". This is an important aspect of writing to understand because being able to
make use of other sources

Through this assignment I
clearly demonstrated the goals ‘’My target is to analyze the two images in detail to better understand
how the Su-Lin, has managed to induce feelings toward the relationship between Su-Lin and Mrs.
Harkness.’’Also I provided information of Outcome 2 by using evidence from the analyzing images
such as in image 1;’’Ruth seems to be wearing a traditional Chinese dress, full of designs, surrounded
by cigarettes, crumple handkerchiefs, a press in her room at the Palace Hotel and a bottle glasses as
she is taking care of Su-Lin.’’in order to help generate, as well as support my writing, making it
more credible as well as showing that I understood and was able to incorporate the source within my
writing . In this assignment I also demonstrated the goals by correctly citing the article both within the
text as well as in my works cited page. Overall, I demonstrated this outcome all throughout my paper.
It is evident wherever I am incorporating ideas from the images , as well
Throughout the course of the quarter I amplified my capacity to not only write but also to to be able to judge and edit my own writing. In all three projects we were given the chance to make
The last writing project I did was an Argumentative. I choose to write and argue about the television and its effects on children. What the consequences are on playing violent/aggressive video games in young ages. Using credible sources and prove by evidence I could convince my reader about my opinion. In this paper I had to be fare and show both sides of the subject to give the reader a reliable opinion. The most important thing I learned was how to use all the sources and present them in the text. Using MLA format was something new and different for me. I realized the importance of presenting the sources in the correct format to keep the high credibility in my paper. I also understood that the MLA-format is very useful for paraphrasing, summarizing and quoting in my text.
2. I wrote informative text in my comparison and contrast and my analytical essay. I was able to take my prior knowledge and information and convey my ideas through these two papers. I was able to do this in an organized matter through the use of my outline.
It wasn’t until this class, where I was told that I was not being asked to explain in great detail what has shaped me into this amazing writer that I am today, but instead to explain what type of writing I feel comfortable with. At that point I realized that this assignment may not be quite as difficult as I thought.
Fortunately, writing is a skill that can be both taught and practiced to a point
Over the course of this semester, my confidence in writing has improved greatly. In high school, I didn’t really know how to write effectively. I wasn’t really sure what was considered to be “good writing” until I took AP* English. However, even while I was taking this “Advanced Placement” class, I was still trying to figure out how to really create “good writing”. I feel as if this had something to do with the fact that I never really had to work with the rules of grammar intensively. After taking this course, however, I now have a much better understanding of how to correctly use proper grammar. I also improved on using transitional phrases in my writing. I have implemented my understanding of proper grammar and transitional phrases in both my writing inside and outside of this class as a result.
This semester of writing has been truly interesting for me. Being able to write within a topic that interests me has made the process more exciting and engaging. I can see this growth in my papers this semester, but I feel that other, perhaps, cannot. It is true that the mechanics of my writing have improved and I am more able to articulate my thoughts and position. However, the real improvement, that other may not see, has been in my self-esteem and confidence in my own writing skills. I chose my sixth writing assignment as my example of progress for a variety of reasons. The two most prominent reasons are that it is one of my later assignments, and, therefore, will represent the most recent evidence of my progress and that it received my highest grade of all of my assignments.
The first skill of note centers around the proofreading of essays, where an essay receives revisions, from the reconstruction of paragraphs to the replacement of disinteresting words with intriguing, more complicated vocabulary. My proof of mastery in this skill is in my essay on Christopher Columbus and Charles Lindbergh, in addition to my reflection on a project that I had worked on in my technology class, where I placed complex vocabulary into the essays with my portfolio draft. My strengths in the skill were that I paid close attention to detail, and added in excessively complex words to entice the reader. My major flaw, however, is that the process of replacing words is time-consuming, which gives me less time to focus on other issues in my essays, which were often longer than they needed to be. Fortunately, the constant expansion of essays doubles as a skill, especially when adding further information to short essays.
The assignments in this class have shown me that I’m a better writer than I initially thought. The assignments have where I have improved, areas where I still need to improve, and how skills developed here can transfer into other courses.
2. Locate the main source referred to by that article, and write down the steps you took.
As a writer, I have improved greatly since the first exploratory narrative essay. There have been many challenges that I have faced in my writing, but I have dealt with them in the best way possible. Over the course of the three papers I have written, I have improved in the flow of the papers, as well as the content of the papers. This semester, I have managed to overcome most of the challenges in my writing and have grown as a writer because of it.
Step 4: Add muscle: This aspect of writing contains the theoretical perspectives and the application of these theories
Wow, I made it through the second hardest class I am taking my sophomore year, this being a close second to College Prep Writing (next semester’s class). This class has truly changed me in the most interesting ways possible. I actually have found some maturity in writing, something that I didn’t even know I needed until I learned it. This essay compared to my intro essay will most likely look like a Harvard paper versus a community college course high school student’s paper. But that is because this essay has changed me in the most positive way possible. Thank you very much for the opportunity to take this course, and I do strongly suggest it to other students.
The writing submitted to professors gives them an impression of the way our practical mind works when confronted with a significant topic in a distinct field of study. Instructors want to see us learn to think like someone trained within this field. Academic writing make extensive use of specialized vocabulary and is often difficult to read if the reader is unfamiliar. The audience for this type of reading is a reader with the same background and equivalent preparation. In
