After acquiring information, in reference to my personality type, it is evident that my writing style is reflective of an INTJ. Specifically, I tend to concentrate on a topic for an extended period of time to fully grasp the concept of the subject. Moreover, my formal and direct approach denotes my INTJ tendencies, and my ability to apply a logical perspective to virtually any topic, also showcases the INTJ classification. (Wenger, 2009). In addition to the aforestated writing characteristics, my writing style encompasses the active voice. In compliance with the text, the active voice is comprised of a sentence structure in which the subject carries out the action. (Mclean, 2013)
On the opposite end of the spectrum, there are aspects
"The most difficult and complicated part of the writing process it the beginning." -A B Yehoshua. I have been through a multitude of writing assignments and projects throughout my college career, and I can say that beginning them has always been the hardest thing for me to do. There are many that I don’t remember but, those that I do, are the ones that have influenced my writing technique the most. Some assignments and projects have influenced my writing while working through them, while others I learned from mistakes by eating the dust of a bad grade due to grammatical errors, or poor planning. Both of which, have shaped me to be the writer I am today. There are many weaknesses that I have overcome in the writing process through major assignments,
The writing of my college essay was quite a process. Normally for me writing comes rather easy, I do not struggle putting my ideas on paper. At first I thought that this essay would be simple to do and not be very stressful. It turned out to be quite the opposite in fact, just brainstorming was a struggle for me. It was difficult for me to think about my life and how it is special. To me, the events that have shaped me do not seem that relevant, at 18 I had never really payed much attention to how certain things affected me, I just lived my life. eventually , with the help of Mary, I came to the realization that having my summer taken away from me due to a broken foot had really changed my life philosophy, it truly changed who I was and my outlook on life.
One of the tips that has really helped me the when writing and improving my writing is, write your thoughts before organizing them. My mind flows when I am writing a paper or thinking about the topic and I sometimes forget to write everything down, so before I write a paper I sit down and really think about my topic, then I just write words and phrases that come to mind so that when I start my paper I have a general idea about what I want to write.
Throughout all four years of high school, the “meaning” of a race and all its components were described to me in great detail. My coach found that a three mile cross country race could apply to almost anything. He would analyze races by separating each mile. The first mile is run with one’s legs, the second with their brain, and the third with their heart. I never fully understood how the versatility of the science of a race. Immediately when thinking about how to explain my writing process and how I could reflect on this past semester while also encompassing the theme of love, the three mile cross country race that had been engrained in my brain came to mind.
I learned about the different styles of essays and how I can effectively improve my writing techniques and integrate them into my professional writing experiences. I know what to look for and how to improve my writing text. Knowing how to apply these techniques in my writing will better able me to write informative and persuasive documents and describe the detailed facts into my professional career writings. By knowing what a thesis statement is, it will allow and guide me to keep my argument focused when writing for my work place.
Many creative minds around the world have their own special ways to prepare themselves for writing. Through writing they can create award winning novels, books, and stories. Out of all these creative minds, none of them have any similarities on how they prepare themselves for writing. Most people assume that writers just sit down in a chair and crack their knuckles then start brainstorming for their writing . Everyone has their own different ways they prepare themselves physically and mentally. Personally before I start writing I have to make myself physically comfortable. For this to happen I have to place myself in a cold and quite environment. Then set a comfortable chair, a clean desk, a laptop, and a drink along with some snacks. After being physically comfortable, I have to then make myself mentally prepared to write by putting ideas down
There are many writing styles that many people pick up as they go through there many years of schooling. Each person picks up the same type of writing styles but as years go by people seem to pick up there own little types of writing style that separates them from everyone else. As I have gone through many years of English classes I have acquired more and more skills and many more are sure to come as I continue my education. My writing skills have only gotten better from the time of ninth grade English class until today. Since my days back in junior high school I was only taught the basic skills to write papers and since then they have grown to make me a decent writer. I have many strengths and also
2. Let others revise and read your work, apply what they tell you and review it carefully (King).
When I first came this classroom, my basic writing was a way lower than I thought, because my writing was a kind of messy due to the missing of strong vocabulary words in my sentences, transitional word to tie up my sentences and how to use quotation more efficiently in my writing and to summarize someone else thought. In fact, a major part of those problems was related to my brainstorming because I was always doing a free writing, instead of organizing my thoughts or ideas after the brainstorming. Even though I was a poor, I learn the concept of organization and sentence structure, the way of summarizing and quoting, and to write the comparison and contrast essay.
Thank you for allowing me to read your paper. This is a great start to a well written final product.
Like transforming from a caterpillar to a butterfly, my writing style transformed from something mediocre to something quite exceptional. In high school, even when I took advanced placement English and Literature courses, I was never good at writing. My writing would lack structure, reasoning, syntax, and a well-defined thesis statement. My inadequate grades on writing assignments lowered my self-esteem, so I assumed I would never enjoy writing papers because I believed I could never improve. However, since attending a university my writing style has improved far beyond my expectation. My EN 101 course enhanced my understanding of the different ways I could approach my writing. Also, it enhanced my comprehension of outlines to complete assignments. Investing quality time into my writing made a substantial difference because I became a stronger writer. Through the late nights, constant revisions, and agonizing head traumas, I learned that my writing is truly spectacular whenever I incorporate well-defined thesis statements, provide sufficient supporting evidence, and maintain a clear focus in my assignments.
You have to struggle in order to perform better. In my opinion, i am a little creative and critical in my writing, i guess you could call it creatively critical or critically creative. some writing habits i have are my usage of detail and description. Sometimes i may over describe something, adding too many details, and some of them may become a little redundant. Another habit would be comparing one thing to another thing using similes or metaphors. I think that the comparisons help to paint a picture in the mind of whoever reads my writing so they can better understand it. I have always been a thinker .Writing had always been one of my strengths, but it was still challenging .
In my process of writing, I needed a lot of creativity, energy and time to form a final draft of my essays. That includes drafting, revising, editing all the way to rewriting until I feel confident enough to turn in my final piece. In Merritt Writing PLO, process is described as, "Demonstrate thorough engagement with the iterative processes of reading, writing, and speaking". I have had the opportunity to involving with activities such as reading articles, writing different genre of essays, conference feedback, revision reflection as well as completing multiple journal articles. Before I begin my essay, we always have a brainstorm as a class on possible topics we could write on our essays. The first essay was about narrative, I didn’t have conference with professor but I did get some brainstorming ideas on what I want to write
This semester has been an eye opener to me about how I formulate ideas and outlines to my papers and visual works. My writing style and skills have gone through many changes throughout English 150 but by far there have been three areas where I have seen the most improvement. How I compose and formulate my works, using certain resources and how I integrated them into my paper, how I edit those works, and how well I use the advice and guidance from my peers to help me revise or complete my works.
I felt rather confident with my first draft until I read your comments and reread it myself to see that there were so many things that could be altered. One significant revision was in the intro paragraph where I had to rephrase quite a few sentences as well as making sure that paragraphing was clear. I made sure to make these changes noticeable to the reader by allowing the sentences to offer more substance to the reader. In the body, I mainly added multiple sentences here and there in order to give evidence or to help in clarifying a point that was being addressed. I also added more specifics to the advice aspect that I intended to give the reader, however, I let it remain kind of ambiguous as I want to get the reader to think for themselves a bit, in regards to how they take the information I offered to find a solution in response to the liberal and the conservative opinions. Concluding the letter, I also added more sentences to offer the reader more insight to the importance of the points being expressed. I added in vague solutions, in an attempt to give the reader room to come up with their own final solutions.
